  1. Stiff athlete, better suited to 3B — Keith Law
  2. These aren't even deck chairs, these are like cocktail napkins we're rearranging. Maybe just doing the cubs a tiny favor in hopes of some reciprocity down the line.
  3. This guy is gonna blow so much smoke up our asses this season it will turn our bowel movements mesquite flavored.
  4. Man I have no idea who half these guys are. Why would I...
  5. There's been a lot of great discussion on this trade and I can't add much more but this seems like a trade where the Sox "win" only if Fletcher produces like 3-4 solid seasons. Otherwise you just gave up a prospect for another fringe roster guy and why do we need a fringe roster guy in a rebuild? I dunno, maybe there's like a 1/5 chance chance this backfires horribly but that's still a 1/5 chance you should not take.
  6. Yea just the guy he hired to run his minor leagues!
  7. I feel bad I forgot about it! I'll blame the excitement around the Michigan natty that is still ongoing. I agree with your assessment. It was a trade that you sell to the fanbase as "adding an All-Star" when in reality you probably just traded for a guy on the downside of his career at the near peak of his value. The Mariners do some things well the Sox don't (their 40 man is usually pretty deep with guys that can step in and produce 1 WAR in a pinch for example) but they also do a lot of the same dumb s%*# like bringing in "stars" that they get at "50 cents on the dollar" or even pay full freight. You could write 5k words just on the Cano signing and subsequent salary dump for Kelenic, which led to both (probably) too much faith in Kelenic and then too little.
  8. I touched on this on a rather comprehensive review of the Mariners' offseason and the parallels to the White Sox.
  9. Yea it's so silly. That said, it's a fine line in baseball between "this feels fucking heavy as s%*#" and "this s%*# is gonna rip a hole in my ass when I slide". Maybe they should have just kept the jerseys everybody already didn't have a problem with.
  10. Thank god we only play the Cubs a handful of times. They are a team on the rise it appears. I feel for you guys that live in Chicago and Chicagoland.
  11. Colas' main problem is that horrific 44% chase rate. If you can fix that with a Grifol pep talk, LFG!
  12. Look at the box score bro. We have ZERO errors. The Cubs have infinitely more than us. Now, who's really winning? The score says 8-1, but only one team is playing a good clean game.
  13. I felt like at the end they were sitting about 30 feet from each other in the booth.
  14. It would be nice if he panned out into a useful regular. Still pretty young and seems to have a good eye.
  15. These are all established vets, you can expect them to turn it on once the games start to count. --GRIFOL
  16. The more southern teams bitched and moaned about too many early season home games iirc. So now the Sox are as likely to be outside in the midwest as anywhere else.
  17. Stone leaned into all of the corn ball stuff, or 90% of it. He probably just enjoys being the star of the show again.
  18. Our top four will be lucky to put up 8 WAR. I mean I get your point, but I get mine too.
  19. Imagine seeing that lineup, spring training opener or not, as a flash forward in 2019. You'd think it was a split squad game, you'd PRAY it was a split squad game.
