  1. Cease is worth at least a top 50 guy, plus another top 100 guy, and then another couple a ball lottos. You sure as s%*# hold out for at least that return. If you have to wait until next summer, you wait. His value isn't going to decrease in that time, and at worst it will stay the same, with a good chance of increasing. If you can restock with 4-5 top 100 guys (including Montgomery) maybe you can squint and see a decent team in 2025 with the right FA signings.
  2. lol, what a fucking dumpster dive. Why wouldn't have you just give literally any internal option 600 PA and see what happens?
  3. This guy can't hit. He will fit in perfectly.
  4. I doubt he's much more than a middle reliever the rest of his career but just being on a MLB team long enough to get a few contracts will give him generational wealth if he spends it smartly. He was always a good soldier here and I'm sure he's happy to go to a club that has a shot of winning something.
  5. I assume one year before he retires he will hit 280\340\560 and play 140 games. So there is 4 or so. The other 7 years or so I'm thinking 4 or so total. He's not a good player and he doesn't have many paths to value as a full time DH other than a 130 or so wRC+, and he doesn't seem capable of that with any consistency. Trade him while some better franchise still trusts their staff to get the most out of him. It probably won't work for them or Eloy but someone is gonna believe.
  6. Put me on record as predicting Eloy has 8 WAR rest of his career. At best. Trade him for some A ball lotto tickets.
  7. I've been to spring twice since 2016 and spent hundreds on tickets and merch and concessions at camel back. Prior to Covid I would get tix behind Sox dugout at Seattle every year. Last two years? No mas. Zero. Not even MLB.tv. Forget it.
  8. Stacey King remains an employee of JR. Oof.
  9. I'm still not sure he knows what Luol Deng looks like.
  10. I grew up listening to Funk on AM1000 and only when late in his career and he switched to TV did I realize how awful Funk was at actually describing what he was seeing. One of my favorites of his was "And Scottie pokes in a three pointer". How the hell does one "poke" in a shot from 22 feet away?
  11. Occam's razor to me at least suggests the Sox were unhappy with jason's nationa obligations and used that as a pretext to underpay him relative to what the Tigers will. Just seems like example one billion and two of the Sox being cheap on stuff they shouldn't be cheap on as it is important to the fan experience and really compared to other expenses is a drop in the bucket. I don't like Jason, but I'm in a minority on that and this move will no doubt lower the fan experience for many.
  12. Or that after 4 years he still couldn't tell a no doubt HR off the bat.
  13. Is Lee Elia still alive? Let's get him in the booth. Should be entertaining.
  14. I just can't imagine a world where even if you liked Jason this is the thing that pushes you over the edge on your fandom. It's like your basement is flooded, there's a fire in the kitchen, and you're worried about the squeaky front door.
  15. Sure, but listen to them over 140 games, with 80 of those games being losses. We'll see. Familiarity breeds contempt.
  16. That's a coach that coaches the Major Leagues.
  17. Wow they finally s%*# canned Boston. We mean business!
  18. This is a good hire, objectively. He's worked with clubs much more successful at hitting than Chicago and doesn't bring baggage with him off field or anything.
  19. That's about where I'm at. There's nothing we do well, and we do a bunch of stuff at a bottom 1/3 level in the league. There's really nothing other than Colson that I'm excited about around the Sox.
  20. I agree he's gonna cut payroll back to bottom 1\2 while the lackeys in the front office sell the fans on a retool and hypothetical future spending when the team is "ready".
  21. The devil you know is often better than the one you don't. Those guys will be replaced with AAAA filler for the most part and or they do something utterly ridiculous like bring up Colson in May.
  22. I feel they are cutting payroll for the most part. The chances they replace TAs projected 1.5 WAR with someone better is slim. That said we are far from winning anything other than last place with or without TA.
  23. I really don't GAF. I'm glad he's gone. He had some awesome moments he also contributed to one of the most embarrassing and horrific seasons we've seen on the South Side. He'll probably have one more good year sandwiched in between a lot of 1 WAR years and injuries.
