Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Hold that water! Josh Nelson @soxmachine_josh · 1h Jerry Reinsdorf is 86 years old, lives in Arizona, and has allowed the White Sox CBT payroll to reach a new high of $200 million. For the first time in my life, I find myself defending Reinsdorf more than ever and it's weird.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
This offseason is like a late era Hawk HR call. That ball hit deep, back, back, back, way back...stretch, stretch, and it's caught at the wall. Dadgumit.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Yea I don't know how anybody that watched him on the Sox last year thought he had surplus value. But it's one thing for fans to think that, it's another to think that when you're talking to your peers every single day as a GM.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
It's worse.

Arb cases happening today
Yikes. Even for this franchise, this is a new low.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
We have a GM that knows nothing about the game of baseball! Your bullpen is only as good as your offense!
-
Kyle Crick stuff
this guy is exhibit A through Z as to why spending money on the pen is stupid. ironically if it's one area that nobody really complains about with the Sox it's finding cheap bullpen arms within the system or cast off from other systems. And yet here we are spending apparently about 30% of the payroll on it.

What top team will fall flat on their face (2022)
Forgot about that. @Harold's Leg Lift any thoughts here? Forget the futility with the bat, how about a -9 RAA according to Fangraphs in his half season of time in the OF? This is historical level of suck as a rookie.

From your lips to god's ears. Throw the mets into that pile for good measure. Some epic NYPost headlines come August.

3/22 Spring training game vs MIL
amazing over reactions to spring (first week at that) from people that have been here a decade. mercy. Should repost my guide. Here's the cliff's notes: Vets: does he look healthy? Literally nothing else matters. Jose could go 0-50 but if he's running well who cares. Youngsters: are they holding their own? If so, good, put that down for the minimum and maximum level of competence that you can show in spring. 400/500/700 lines don't matter. Just don't get hitless in 20 PA before going back to minor league camp. that's it, that's all you can take away. youngsters don't look overmatched and vets look healthy.

What top team will fall flat on their face (2022)
Easy: Mariners. Team had the most absurd sequencing luck late in games last year and they will struggle find 600 innings out of the 5 guys they currently have in their rotation.

2022 Bold Predictions Thread
I mean they could all have bad years, it happens. That said, I'm more worried about the pitching. The offense has several breakout candidates as well as regression candidates. The pitching has a lot of guy that need to play to the back of their baseball card and stay healthy.

2022 Bold Predictions Thread
He def was off balance at times. He really has the ability to have both a short swing and a long barrel in the zone. It's probably why he was #3 overall as projected 1B. Hopefully he can let his natural talent emerge this year and adjust inside when necessary while still looking out over the plate.

So one of the best offensive players in the game. I'll take that. Not sure he can hit more than 275 personally.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Harold is busy getting new talking points regarding Kimbrel's value at the deadline.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Yea it guarantees Matt 24 million or so in case his hip flares up again and the blue jays take on some downside risk in order to you know, as you said, keep the relationship solid and bet on individual and team success.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Just buys out his arb years and nothing more. Sorta an odd deal for both sides. Has to mean Matt isn't very confident in his body imo.

Early days but....
I believe he then hit about a buck eighty in the high minors that year and basically ceased to be a prospect.

Steele Walker back on the South Side when!?

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
lol, rehabbing I'd guess with Boston. Mariners also were unusually healthy last year pitching wise. Paxton surgery sure, but he's broken goods. If Ray goes down they are in huge trouble. We think the Sox are on thin ice with one horse going down, well at least in theory we have a couple others to pick it up. Mariners have nobody.
