sure, but that's not measuring his talent. "runs saved" is basically just some translation of outs to runs. Tango has the math done and so do many others. But you don't need a degree in stats to see that Madrigal is a mediocre 2B at best. Maybe he can get better, but it's going to take a lot of work. To be fair, he's really still a rookie and many rookies to improve defensively, even mediocre tools ones.

too many guys with a lot of mass and not quite enough athletic awareness. it's an under-rated skill. Jose has it, somehow. Vaughn seems to have it as well. Moncada although his seems to come from always giving 92% or so percent. Kopech and Eloy are pretty much injury prone until proven otherwise.

I really DGAF about most the bullpen moves. Other than trying to steal outs with a shitty reliever I'm not going to critique most of them. Even not using the closer in a tie game is something I'm fairly ambivalent about. But giving away this many outs is awful. I get trying to manufacture a run down a one late in the 9th and MAYBE the 8th, but this was the early and middle innings.

This was about as bad of a loss as 1/162 can be imo. You're seeing major cracks in the lineup and there's no easy answers. Short of a trade for a legit starting OF with a history of production -- so literally no chance of happening -- what can you even do? This felt like the 2nd game the Sox have lost in the past week because a big bopper like Eloy was out. Needed a big blast today at some point and it just wasn't coming. TLR was horse shit today. The bunting is ridiculous. How about a fucking hit and run if you want to try and stay out of a double play? We're just giving outs away over and over and for what, to get a runner on 2nd for Leury? Thank fucking god it's not Michael's achilles.
