  1. Steve Stone needs to smoke a joint and relax. He's an OFFICIAL mouthpiece of the White Sox. Being a jerkface isn't a good luck.
  2. Some dude tweeted the deal was done pending Arenado waiving his NTC. This was about an hour ago. Crickets since.
  3. I'd make that deal so fast time would dilate. Madrigal is a nice player, he's hardly untouchable.
  4. I have a hard time saying any player will "regularly put up 8 war seasons" but Moncada is probably about one of 10 in baseball that could potentially do that.
  5. Man remember when they were putting out stuff like this? I ain't even mexican and I'd rep that.
  6. Pretty much. This has the potential to damage the Twins quite a bit. No 3 WAR Maeda and oh yea the guy they tried to trade has a bum arm and now everybody knows it. Of course it could be they just want some more imaging/testing done and it goes through anyways. We'll see.
  7. Just make sure there's no electrical boxes in play.
  8. Honestly I liked that article a lot more than the sorta rote minor prospect analysis posted previously. More of this stuff would be cool. I always thought Sandy was a very good influence on those teams and glad to have it confirmed. He was a true pro.
  9. I'd like to see him sit a bit more personally. 140 games should be the target and being as close to 100% for those 140 as possible.
  10. Yes during my rehab from the torn patellas I did a lot of eccentric training and still do. The training guides I watched (and that I followed) did one leg stuff on a wedge. I believe the theory is that the wedges help shorten the chain between the achilles and hip so you can more safely target those areas when rehabbing and training. As my surgeon noted and you noted upthread it's usually only explosive strong athletes than can rip tendons. It's just so unusual to see it in someone so young like Jake. I was 31 when I blew mine out.
  11. Cool but I"ll eat my hat if Moncada doesn't have an OBP over 350 one way or another. He'll regress with the BABIP 20 or so points but I'd imagine this is the year he really refines his strike zone to the best of both world's between swinging away early and going deep into the count and he hits something like 275/360/500
  12. lol, some people think you can turn chicken shit into chicken salad. they can safely be ignored.
  13. Everybody would prefer a better player in RF. That's...not even an argument. But Steele Walker is not a lamentable loss.
  14. what good is "control" of a C+, likely AAAA OF? Not much. And you're acting like Mazara is only a 2020 player. He could be a short or medium or even long term RF option.
  15. No because Steele Walker absolute best case is a 2 WAR OF from 2021-26 or so. That's a useful depth piece nothing more. Most of the time he pans out into a AAAA player. Sox don't need to be needlessly trading C+ level prospects but they don't need to be hoarding them needlessly either.
  16. I thought it was a bad pick just because there was no way imo he was going to stay at 3B, and at 1B his bat was likely nothing special and he's the wrong side of any platoon. So where's the upside? Whatever the thought process was on the pick it was flawed. It seems like the reached for what they thought was a "safe" pick that would fit with the rebuild timeline but really any high upside HS player would have been better.
  17. That article certainly painted the picture of a guy that for whatever reason is over it. Whatever the reason, it doesn't seem like Jake Burger is "all in" on baseball. He's probably living off the rest of his signing bonus and figuring out what car dealership he wants to go work at for the next 30 years.
  18. Spoiled ass Red Sox fans reacting to this move on their corners of the 'Net is giving me much needed life on this soggy ass morning. You'd think they contracted the team the way they are acting. OH BOO FUCKING HOO you only have what, three rings in the last 12 years and 2 in the last 7? Fuck off. Enjoy your success but every owner has a price.
  19. You guys realize that if the Sox had waited this long to fill RF the Dodgers would have thus had multiple suitors and held out for more, right?
  20. Yea it was a trade of opportunity whatever. HOWEVAH I did say at the time that the sox were in danger of the opportunity cost of you know actually getting a RF proven good instead of this hopeful mazara biz.
  21. or...he is controlled at a very reasonable cost through 2024? Twitter has made us all dumb. It's a move for the next 3 years traded for the next 6 really. Good move by the Twins. Weakens them tho big time if his 31 year old arm gets hurt. Then the control means nothing. It's a gamble, calculated one tho.
  22. well sure but if you replaced Moncada with Holt over Leury does it really matter? Season would probably be fubar anyways. I'd like to see them keep their powder dry and if anything look to bring in more pitching.
  23. Eh. The pitching is the problem. Engel and Leury are actually pretty ideal as backups.
  24. Twins aren't fooling around. It's good for MLB to have interest outside the traditional large markets and it creates excitement of which the Sox have a legit shot to participate in down the stretch. Good.
