  1. Joe Rogan knows how to make conversation and engender strong opinions from his guests.. As a quality in a podcaster, that's a good thing. As a message board poster it gets tiresome when you feel a particular poster is just baiting over and over again. I'm not on a podcast, I don't have to talk to fill time, hence the ignore button.
  2. People that frequently do personal attacks and do "gotcha" replies only serve red meat. Red meat is fine but eating it every day isn't recommended for health. I have three posters on ignore and I am much happier and calmer.
  3. I don't think you should put everyone you disagree with on ignore -- but personally once I put a few posters on ignore my soxtalk experience and my own posting got better.
  4. I'm looking forward to the inevitable Eloy TLR conflict after Eloy does some yakkety sax shit in LF. Or, if TLR is really on point Eloy will not have those moments, or fewer.
  5. We literally saw a counter example to your post with our own eyes when Adam "he's going to leadoff and play CF everyday" Eaton rubbed the vets in the room the wrong way. Frazier still can't stand him. And I DGAF about "piling on" I post here from my experiences in life and baseball. Don't worry about hurting my feelings. I will always post what I feel is true and other are free to disagree and argue, that's the beauty of the forum. I haven't really been posting much, there's just not a lot to say until the season starts so when I do post it's going to be stuff like this. Spring training stats are completely meaningless and so are "position battles". We'll know more two games into the regular season about this Sox roster and club then 20 something exhibition games told us.
  6. This is really good news. 20% seems rather arbitrary however. I wonder how they will adjust things when the virus is basically dead at the end of May when 200 million people have gotten the vaccine?
  7. Is jimmy Rollins winning the battle at SS so far this spring?
  8. He is invaluable on a contender. He's the only reason they can carry other guys on the roster that aren't as flexible. He can play 7 positions in theory, passably, and is I'd assume the primary backup at 3B, SS, 2B and CF depending on how the roster shakes out. @Chicago White Sox that would be a fair critique if he was a regular, but as a backup I can't b**** about his bat at all. Most teams would kill to have a guy that can carry a 90 OPS+ overall and play 7 positions as a backup passably.
  9. That's on you. He sucks, spring training is meaningless.
  10. Self censored and probably for good reason could be gruesome with Reylo on the hill.
  11. I'll stop posting because honestly I just don't think enough people here played team sports enough or at a high enough level to get it. There is totally an element of "STFU and be humble" for young cocky players at any level above high school. Including my summer league travel teams and even my shitty DIII squads.
  12. I guarantee they wouldn't have made the shirts if it didn't bother them. I guarantee it. When I was playing DIII my first year in Florida I thought I was hot shit as I had some Juco offers but ended up going to my academic school. I was a frosh starter on a really bad team but thought I was hot shit so the guys pranked me with a "pro scout" that called the hotel line at 7AM and "wanted to meet me in the lobby to arrange a workout". I went down to the lobby and it was all the seniors with shit eating grins on their faces. These things bring teams together when handled correctly. Like my razzing, Nick will learn to let his play speak and the team will be closer. It's a credit to Jose and the other leaders like TA that they handled it this way with light teasing and made it a bonding moment instead of a dividing one.
  13. Totally. I was going to post the same thing. Nick is Eaton 2.0. Young talented player, small stature, chip on shoulder and tends to rub vets the wrong way. That said, Eaton has matured, won a championship, seen his career flash before his eyes with bad injuries requiring a lot of rehab and mental toughness. I hope Eaton takes Nick under his wing.
  14. Glad Nick is rolling with it. Nick isn't a wilting flower, you don't become a top prospect at his size without grinta. And yea, Fegan is amazing. He's the beat reporter we deserve after years of mediocre shit.
  15. Right, which is why they made the shirt. Having been in a similar position on low level college teams I can tell you 100% it rubbed the older guys the wrong way, which is why they are giving him gruff. Better to pass the shirt around and try and make light of the situation with some humor than isolate him in the clubhouse.
  16. Nick 100% rubs vets the wrong way. Let's hope he takes this well.
  17. Why do you think he was so interested in coming out of retirement...
  18. I think he will put up a 300 iso season the question is can he do a .380 OBP in his prime to go with it. Defense? Who would even care at that point.
  19. this was a HR, his hands are to the ball. t
  20. Hits too many worm burners.
  21. Collins appears to have shortened his swing. What a great stroke. He let that fastball get deep on him and just flipped his wrists and sent it over the power alley fence oppo. He is going to do some damage against RHP, I just hope it's with the Sox and they don't trade him low. edit: watching it a few more times, maybe it's just be but I think there is some TA hand action influence there.
  22. The best shirts I saw after they won it all were from Cardinals fans, it read something like "Enjoy that one, because it will be another 106 years for another".
  23. ha, it's a good thought but literally the only games I ever saw sold out down there were Cubs at Mesa after they won it all. And even then it was "do I really want to pay 30 bucks to go see a spring training game" because plenty were available on secondary market for that price. Face value was like 12-15. Protip: always just buy lawn seats or cheapest possible. Ushers at Camelback, especially early in camp, do not GAF. You can go sit 4th row behind the plate and most times nobody will say anything. Camelback is also kinda in the middle of nowhere, even for Arizona. It's fairly far away from most of the real population centers so tends to only get hardcore Dodger and Sox fans in attendance. Whereas some of the other parks like Mesa attract casuals. Dodger fans are a hoot. Fun people.
