He is. I'm listening now, he's asking good questions but letting the Doc guide the conversation.- MLB considering no crowds allowed on Opening Day?
Not a huge Joe Rogan fan (he's all over the place) but I'm very glad he did that because there are people that otherwise won't listen that will listen to him.- MLB considering no crowds allowed on Opening Day?
That's true but transmission isn't that likely as long as Cooper washes his hands frequently and avoids intimate contact with his players. Might have to avoid some spittle laced conversations.- MLB considering no crowds allowed on Opening Day?
There are common sense things people can do to stop touching each other and last night I got frustrated because at the store the clerk INSISTED on physically touching my ID rather than just looking at it. She was not a day older than 25, had purple hair and was insistent that "state law" required her to scan it. Yea that's bullshit you can walk into any venue in Seattle and the bouncer simply looks at your ID. There is no scan requirement. Management has to get on top of this for grocery stores. Clerks like this on little power trips will infect and kill people.- MLB considering no crowds allowed on Opening Day?
If they can get the cotton swab test rolled out quickly enough I'd imagine you'd be testing players bi-weekly. Most players are obviously healthy strong individuals and will be "self containing" on private flights and in their hotels and team buffets.- MLB considering no crowds allowed on Opening Day?
I'm not sure you're understanding that the death rate for those over 60 and/or with underlying ailments (especially respiratory like asthma) is roughly 15-20%, with over 2/3 of those requiring hospitalization. I can guarantee you that thousands in your city now have it. Not 7. There's no testing. We don't even have testing in Seattle yet readily available.- MLB considering no crowds allowed on Opening Day?
This is the obvious solution. For all events. Just play to empty stadiums. I run a very small business. At any given time I have at most 2 people working with me. Things have been so bad at my biz this last week that I'm considering moving most of my business online and cutting hours to zero for everybody but myself. I have about a two month buffer. If things are still really bad in 2 months I'm really not sure if I can hang on. And I've been running this thing fairly successfully for about 8 years now.- MLB considering no crowds allowed on Opening Day?
What an absolutely bizarre response. 1/5 is the estimated fatality rate for those with underlying respiratory illnesses. You seemingly BRAGGED that your wife was inviting in the grim reaper. But please I entreat you to take this seriously, for your sake, for my sake, and for everybody's sake.- MLB considering no crowds allowed on Opening Day?
People haven't realized that what is happening in Seattle is coming to their community. Let me tell you. Businesses are suffering here. People are still going out and about sure but even a 20-30% reduction (which is what service industry is seeing) is horrible. And there is no end in sight people are just hoping we lower the infection curve and it burns through in a couple months here.- MLB considering no crowds allowed on Opening Day?
You're calm about your wife having a 1/5 chance of dying this year? Ok then.- MLB considering no crowds allowed on Opening Day?
This is going to kill a lot of people's grandparents and hospitalize a lot of otherwise healthy young and middle aged folks. The lead Doc at the CDC directly told Americans "this is not the flu, it's much worse" this morning. But hey, stick your head in the sand if you want. What do we have to lose other than our health and parents?- Cuts
Ah right on, just mostly a housekeeping distinction then. I guess what I'm trying to say is I really hope they can squeeze something out of Medieros.- Cuts
Any thoughts on if that means anything? Trying to get a longer look in person with the MLB level personnel around the backfields?- MLB considering no crowds allowed on Opening Day?
thanks for your perspective but a lot of people live paycheck to paycheck. anyways, I'd imagine MLB will mandate no crowds league wide for a time Caulfield.- Opening Day 26 Man Roster Discussion
National prospect and fantasy guys going wild over Kopech today. Hype here seems a bit muted in comp. Prospect fatique I guess. Anyways, if MK can come out and command that fastball for 5 innings every 5th game he's a star. Now. I just wanna say Grandal's frame of that pitch is a thing of beauty after Narvaez and James.- MLB considering no crowds allowed on Opening Day?
Washington state is banning gatherings over 250 tmr. Mariners will play in front of nobody opening day. So will all teams most likely. Let's hope prudence has this thing blown over by May.- McCann Trade Speculation
totally. which is why spring training trades are very rare. you don't want to blow your wad this early. as I've said a million times for all we fucking know the Sox pen is lights out this year and Don Cooper lays his moneymaker down again. Let it play out before using assets. It's not like McCann is going to depreciate in value between now and mid-summer.- McCann Trade Speculation
No player is happy being a backup but frankly I don't see a lot of teams contending that would want McCann as their primary catcher. When I looked the other day there were only maybe 2-3 clubs at most that were a) contending and b) needed a 1.5-2.5 WAR catcher. And that's optimistically.- ZIPS Projection Over Unders: Opening Day Countdown
16 days now. Today's player O/U is Eloy Jimenez. While the hype train has moved to the Luis Robert station Eloy remains perhaps the most intriguing young Sox position player. Is there 50 HR power in that bat? How about playing passable defense in LF? Can he put it together enough to be a 5-6 WAR player in his prime or will he be more like an "El Caballo" type and never quite unlock that superstar potential? We'll see. 2019: 818, 31, 1.9 ZIPS: 861, 33, 2.2 ZIPS likes Eloy and so do I but not enough to go over on the OPS. I'm going to go UNDER on OPS, OVER on HR and OVER on fWAR. He's going to improve his defense, be a sneaky good baserunner and struggle with whiffs. My prediction is 270/330/530 but he stays healthy, plays 150 games, and improves to simply "bad" in left instead of "brutal" and finishes with around 2.7 fWAR.- The Ringer loves the White Sox: Two Articles
Usually agre e with your posts but not this one. The expected career war of the 4th pick is like 8. People vastly over-rate the value of any pick other than the 1st really.- The Ringer loves the White Sox: Two Articles
Yup. A large component of the Sox' failure from 2007-2017 was simply an inability to find the "average regulars". If Madrigal is "only" an average regular he's still going to contribute on what should be 90 win type teams and he'll be doing so on a relative pittance, freeing up money for a hole elsewhere on the roster. If he craters completely the Sox will have to bring in a 2B in FA or trade next year. Hopefully that doesn't happen.- White Sox Spring Training Thread
I agree with most of that but I'm not a huge fan timing of mechanisms pre-pitch that are lower body mechanisms. Moncada's toe tap for instance is similar, and he makes it work, but it can lead to too much movement if not carefully practiced and is consistent day to day. Agree tho that such fluidity from a huge big teen is promising. From his writeup on Future Sox last year he absolutely mashed the DSL at 17 so that's promising. Where is he going to start this year? AZL than maybe a taste of Great Falls?- Rangers @ Sox | 3:05PM CT | Whitesox.com
This would be one of those 60 you flush in the regular season. But it's spring so who cares. No injuries and Kopech was fire. That's all that matters today.- Rangers @ Sox | 3:05PM CT | Whitesox.com
