  1. It really wasn't a bad move, other than Rickie batting Reed 4th. I mean, if the Sox really like Yermin and think he could be a cheap DH after Jose there wasn't any reason to start his clock late last summer when Reed was floating around for nothing but a 40 man spot.
  2. Not really. It was never "very bad" here because we almost immediately shut down after the first case and death at the nursing home. Things are "fine" here for the most part. The hospitals are busy but not overwhelmed. People should be looking at Seattle and WA state as an example of how you can come out of this. We have probably 2 weeks left, maybe 3-4.
  3. if you look at the data WA has already turned the curve. New cases are flat here.
  4. Yea better to over-react than under-react but no need to push it out that far right now.
  5. There will be sports. Once the testing is widespread enough they'll start up again. No fans until fall or a vaccine but they will be playing games by middle of June, almost guaranteed. Honestly if I'm Manfred my entire focus would be hiring a crack team of medical pros and logistics folks to get this sport going in 60 days. Restart Spring Training May 1st and season starts with daily player testing in June.
  6. For me personally it's all about getting in the mindset of doing an insane 45-80 minute HIIT workout with supersets, plyos, some steady state cardio mixed in and doing my three day split of back/shoulders chest/arms legs/core. I just can't replicate that instensity at home, I never have been able to I'm just one of those guys that needs to be "at the gym" in order to workout to my potential. I've been jogging, doing some sprint work and body weight stuff outside but it's just not the same. Thanks for the advice though I"m def going to have to get some workout bands to at least maintain my strength.
  7. I'm starting to lose my mind. Physical health is out the window. I've pretty much quit drinking but I've picked up a horrible carb habit I'm eating a lot of pizza and haven't been able to workout like I want in weeks Just can't replicate the gym's equipment. Closed my business last week for the time being. Might have to use the money I had saved to pay taxes to pay rent in June or July if this shit lingers but whatever, worry about that when it and if it comes. Really hoping baseball can start in June. If not, man, it's going to just be a horribly slow and shitty summer. edit: and to add, the weather here has been absolute trash. 40s and rain. Seattle "springs" are usually hit or miss. Looks like this year will be another miss. Haven't really had a nice one since 2018. Last year and this year very poor although this year can still turn around.
  8. IIRC The Hard Ball Times did a thing on MB where they looked at his FIP/ERA difference and explained it as mostly a function of his incredible defense. He picked off so many guys and caught so many more balls up the middle than most pitchers that he was like a one man shift and it saved him about 8-10 runs a year or effectively about 1 WAR. Not quite a HOFer but certainly in the HOVG and his number should be retired on the SS. Remember this opening day?
  9. I can't stand Josh's voice. That is all.
  10. Yup, Illinois and Chicago seem to be doing fairly well as well. I'm worried about the deep south reinfecting half of America in August tho.
  11. Same in Seattle. Strong leadership (warning without scaring) works, go figure.
  12. Crazy how this would be opening weekend and I'd be hyped through the roof and now it's hardly even a thought in the back of my mind. Sports are important, until they're not.
  13. For sure. I don't think the season will be cancelled but everybody that sat on their ass for two months and then has to go into camp again in May isn't going to be in peak readiness by June.
  14. I love it. It's actually MORE in depth than OOTP IMO. I have FM 16 and have waited on buying a newer one because of match engine problems. Those seem to have been completely resolved in FM 20. I will be buying 20 when it goes on Steam sale as it usually does in summer. If you like soccer at all (or you like management sims) you'll easily get hundreds of hours out of it.
  15. I just won the Championship title with Wolves in FM 16. We are going to struggle to stay up but with the right transfers we will.
  16. This virus isn't jack shit for most healthy Americans. My god can you imagine if it wasn't? This is a dry run for a real nightmare. Might be a blessing that way. Still shaking my head that Dr. Birx called on "millenials" to fix this today and asked us to stop going to bars. Hey, Doc, we aren't Gen Z! We are mostly 30 somethings now! We sure as shit ain't on IG licking toilet bowls for the "#coronaviruschallenge" That's on Gen Z. You know all those kids that were partying it up this weekend in Boston, NYC and elsewhere for St Patty's day. You think 30 somethings are out doing that? Well maybe you do since you're 63 yourself.
  17. complete failure of leadership at every level. This is overboard and will do more harm than good. It's one thing to shut down public venues and gathering spaces. It's another to tell someone they can't go get their car fixed or get a cup of coffee to go.
  18. Trump is doing better than Boris. let that fucking sink in.
  19. I have two thoughts, one is a positive one is negative. 1) I think the virus, for most healthy people, is about as impactful as a cold. Maybe less. So let's hope that's the case and that we are much deeper into this spread (by a few weeks) than we think and are already close to the peak of the infection curve. 2) As a SB owner I'm completely in the dark right now. I can't tell folks if I will be open tmr. There is no guidance. Our governor Inslee is MIA this week. Cali is closing all "non essenttial" businesses. So is Washington? If so, when? What can I tell my clients. It's so frustrating to be led by a completely inept federal government. This is what folks in the Soviet Union dealt with for decades and still are. It wears on you.
  20. because there's no fucking testing dude. it's that simple. christ, it's like wondering why you couldn't really measure MLB defense before any sort of objective standard. what I've read is that it's pretty hard to actually spread the disease despite the long period of being contagious. You need aerosol drops in the face. So wash hands, avoid intimate contact in public, and don't fucking touch your face. When possible, avoid crowds. If you can, work from home. Blah blah blah. We'll be good in a few months. Listen to the scientists.
  21. tens of thousands probably have it because the lead time on symptoms is in healthy young people 3-10 days. this virus is roughly 10 times more fatal than the flu overall and kills (best guess) about 10% of people over 70. Healthy young people 4 in 2000 cases will die. That still kinda sucks. so yea we need to make sure this infects 50-70 million and not 150. So far people seem to realize that.
  22. gotta kinda laugh at the irony, at least if you're under 60. you got a bunch of dinos running, not just for prez but also in congress and worldwide, and here comes the virus! every worldwide industry affected. mount everest is officially closed and it's prime climbing season. mother nature is taking some scalps it appears. flatten the curve and hopefully we can come back wiser in 3-4 months in the US. here in seattle stores are still stocked and everything, I mean, it's not that bad and people are taking precautions.
  23. If you start playing games and players infect each other the union is going to shut it down anyways.
  24. Agree but I'm at the epicenter and life is going on. Seattle is getting a handle on it. Rest of country will too, with or without Federal leadership.
