  1. the box score is disgusting. Making this bum with an ERA over 9 look like prime Pedro. WTF is wrong with Eloy.
  2. The Tigers are so fucked. People think we are fucked. At least we won in 2005 they are going on almost 40 years and they are going to be really bad for at least the next 4 years. Probably closer to 5-6. They have absolutely nothing more to trade for an almost all their good prospects are pitchers. Position player wise they are one of the worst in MLB.
  3. Too bad the same growing pains Cease is having this year will be repeated with Kopech and Dunning next year. I just hope the Sox realize that with the right breaks 2020 can work out for them if they make additions in the offseason to fill the hole in RF and rotation. Need at least 2 SP and 2 good bats.
  4. I swear to god if the pitcher "win" was called anything but "win" people would let the fuck go much easier. The pitcher doesn't win the game he literally cannot by himself in the AL. So how about we give a win to whoever has the game winning RBI? That would at least make some sort of sense. It's a garbage stat and does not in any way describe a pitcher's contribution to a team.
  5. Except he's made it known he doesn't want to DH. I just hope that if he does fucking get resigned out of some stupid ass loyalty or "player coach" reasons he's a full time DH I cannot possibly sit through another year of every single ball 5 feet to his right going into the corner in RF.
  6. Jose and Yolmer were both favorites of mine when they were actually contributing. Now both are overpaid and barely above replacement level. Sox can do better next year.
  7. A "strong finish" would cement his status as a 1.5 WAR 1B. A mediocre one cements his status as washed up replacement level 1B. There's no there there. He's done. The Sox have Collins if they want to try a 1 WAR 1B next year that won't cost more than the league min.
  8. bringing up a "Steve Stone uses traditional stats suck it haters" aside in a post gamer is the def of trolling.
  9. jesus. It's one thing when you're holding a guy on...I've said it a thousand times the team is going to be a lot more watchable without a guy that is negative 10 runs a year at 1B. @greg775 I call it like I see it as well: you're the biggest troll on this board.
  10. I stopped watching the games in order to preserve some sanity so appreciate the recap. Box makes Lopez look like he battled but was wild as usual, how'd he look for anybody watching?
  11. What's one more black hole in this lineup tho?
  12. It's been a helluva "slump". Over his last 994 PA he has produced 1.5 fWAR mostly based off a very mediocre slash line around a 105 wRC+. That's Yolmer territory for value. In fact, because he can actually man an important defensive position over the same time frame Yolmer has been worth 2.1 fWAR. Hopefully that helps put it into perspective that Jose Abreu's value is almost 100% in his bat. And his bat no longer is any good.
  13. he's enconced himself into the part of my brain that pours one out for all the aging sluggers I've seen the Sox run out like a tired prizefighter -- tarnishing my memory of them as a Sox for no fault of their own thanks to shitty management.
  14. the "I'm not gonna but I'm gonna" is that a boomer thing cause I swore it was all millenials from what I read.
  15. congrats your watch is right twice a day. and we have an active abreu thread where you could have swung your flaccid dick around.
  16. Yea, it still rubs me the wrong way that they once again over played their hand with an aging veteran slugger. Nobody wanted his bum ass this deadline. They should have moved him anytime in the last three years and gotten an asset. Now they are in the horrible position of having to resign him to save face instead of just letting him walk like any GM and FO with pride and confidence would.
  17. If you really want to get down in the dumps just 3 years ago there were fairly serious rumors that the Red Sox wanted him and the return was Jackie Bradley Jr.
  18. He's done. He'll be down to .2 fWAR after today and ZIPS ROS has absolutely bailed on him, they think his true talent is now a 105 wRC+ ROS. That's a replacement level 1B/DH. They might actually be too optimistic. I posted it in the game thread the other night but look at this data: He went from rocking fastballs to getting blown the fuck away by them. In case anybody wondered Fangraphs has his average fastball velocity faced every year since his rookie year within .5 mph. It's not like the league has gotten way better Jose has just gotten old, fast.
  19. I don't think they have any moles here. I don't think they know how to relate to fans in 2019. They are just a really old fashioned, stuck in their ways org.
  20. I mean, it appears that way. Including some of the stupid twitter "leaks" about "competitive offer". Who the fuck loses a bid in FA and then comes up with the "competitive offer" shit? That's some spin.
  21. Read has apparently been optioned to Charlotte. Good riddance.
  22. The Sox must have a bottom 5 MLB scouting staff. The cannot access either their own guys or guys like Reed with any degree of accuracy. In theory Reed was a smart pickup in a tank year. In reality the Astros scouted him properly and the Sox are sleeping on guys already in the org that are better than Reed.
  23. Lopez has the same problem at times. If a MLB hitter knows a fastball is coming he can foul it off, even at the velocities Lopez and Cease reach. They both need to continue to refine their command on off speed pitches. Chris Sale's wipeout slider is probably the best example recently of how a pitcher can finish off a hitter. It has to be in the zone and out of the zone. Cease and Lopez too often are never in the zone with their offspeed stuff and it's just a show me pitch. Maybe in AA Cease was getting more chases but he's not in AAA and MLB so far.
  24. Things would look a helluva lot better with a 4-6 WAR cornerstone at 3B or RF already in the mix. But no, that was too much to ask. Their short sighted stupidity just leverages this offseason even greater and most likely it's a make or break year for the rebuild. There's not much coming up in the way of production after 2020. Holes will need to be filled via FA smartly this coming winter. Good luck.
  25. it's not PC but he's a fat slug and he is an OLD 63. I honestly have a hard time believing has has the day to day energy levels needed to perform at a high level in his duties.
