  1. Seems like a 3rd team would have to get involved. I think Sox fans are going to be pretty disapointed at the deadline. I'm guessing they move Colome for a B- type and that's it. Something slightly better than the Medeiros guy they got last year.
  2. @Flash Well that would get it done but yea not happening. @BackDoorBreach does boston have anybody we can absorb NBA style?
  3. I was thinking of making a thread on it but what is our "best offer" to any contender? If it's Abrue+Colome+Bummer what does that return?
  4. I just can't see a scenario where anybody gives what Boston would want and that's likely a MLB ready prospect, (an org's top 1-2 guy most likely), then another back end top 10 guy (likely 2). He's a young OF controlled for three more years and is hovering around a 3 WAR true talent before 25. For Chicago what would even get it done? You aren't trading Madrigal. Robert, come on. Vaughn can't be moved. Nobody else in our top 10 probably moves the needle for them. Jose Abreu, Colome and Bummer isn't getting it done and that's probably our best realistic offer.
  5. jose looks like he tweaked his hammy.
  6. for the most part he's had great command and that continued in that inning. But yea it's a little harder sitting at 92-93 than 96-97.
  7. he almost fucked up that high throw from short right there. he knows he can come off the bag on play he has the runner by 20 feet right? wasn't there any article that came out his 1st year here that basically said the Sox were shocked he had never even been taught any of the basic 1st base footwork?
  8. I can't wait until we have a real 1B that can go to his right.
  9. get in the fucking box bro.
  10. yoan completely baffled. jesus.
  11. Adam Engel our lord and savior.
  12. fuck yea james. even if he only hits for a 730 OPS next year his catching is worth a starting gig.
  13. lol how the fuck does a mlb hitter get jammed on a 83 mph changeup middle in?
  14. season and summer really.
  15. clean.that.shit.up. our guys are...not savages in the box tho.
  16. hey caulfield I'll continue the discussion here what's yak taste like? Is it like goat? Not a big fan of goat. Everytime I got curried coat in Crown Heights I regretted it. Just too gamey for me.
  17. @Heads22 I'd hope they evaluate him with clear eyes and encourage Jose and his agent to seek an opinion of his value throughout the league. @Balta1701 for a guy that is as negative as anybody (including myself) you really don't mind just wasting 5-12 million above his market value on him? Sox need all the pennies they can scrounge up imo. I'd rather put that money into scouting, astros style player development, an additional DSL team and on and on and on. Not to mention he's wasting a roster spot in 2021 if Vaughn "just" meets his 50th percentile outcome and is a 3 WAR 1B then Jose is functionally a backup that plays a shitty 1B. Not ideal.
  18. After having my fill of fish tacos and carne asada tacos in SD this spring I can see why Manny went with SD. Mercy.
  19. Moose Tacos, a much better player all around at this point in their careers and coming off a 2.4 fWAR (while two years younger as well) season, got 1 year 10 million. Jose isn't going to sniff 2 years 28 in his age 33,34 seasons. He'll be lucky to get offered 2/14 by Chicago or anybody else. I'd low ball the shit out of him with something like 2/12 and see how much he really wants to be a Sox. Jose abreu has been below replacement for about a month now. His ROS ZIPS projection should give everybody a wake up call: 273.323.474 for 107 wRC+ and .6 fWAR. ZIPS thinks he's toast. Chances are, so do most GMs.
  20. absolutely zero updates from anybody on Eloy. That's just bad PR by the Sox. They should have released an update on him this morning.
  21. The hitting coach at the MLB level is basically a positive affirmation coach, nothing more, nothing less. Todd is there to help guys with their approach not their swing, he doesn't have time for that and neither do the players in season. The real improvement comes in the offseason. I'm continuing to read "The MVP Machine" and the work it takes to change your swing at the pinnacle of your profession requires a lot more than a hitting coach. It requires countless hours in the cage and video room with an instructor or coach dedicated only to yourself and a couple other guys.
  22. you can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit.
