  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 20, 2017 -> 01:13 PM) That's interesting I guess I didn't think about what level winter league competition was at. He's currently the most searched minor league player on Fangraphs FWIW.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 02:09 PM) I enjoy hashing over Tatis as much as the next guy but I like to keep my Eloy threads on Eloy, the most exciting sox prospect I can remember. Something is seriously wrong in your head if you see that blurb and stopped reading after Tatis. FFS Eloy Jimenez is maybe the most exciting hitting prospect (no, he is, without a doubt) the Sox have had since Big Frank. GET EXCITED. He's crushing AAAA level pitching in the DWL when he could just be sitting at home resting on his incredible MiLB season.
  3. Cubs Twitter is pretty pissed. What a grade trade by Hahn. Wish Q the best but man he has not had the impact they hoped.
  4. Eloy is cooling off, he's down to .529 average. http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/base...0ILO1fKOhmuG.97
  5. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 01:26 AM) Good grief! Has that ball landed yet? He might have taken out a satellite with that shot. on pure results + physical talent this kid is the most exciting prospect I've followed. He's electric and the results match the hype. I sorta remember Frank and Robin and Fernandez, but not really.
  6. It's time for some Eloy Jimenez porn: https://twitter.com/SoxOn35th/status/919593705056718850 He's like 6-12 in his first 3 games with a HR and 3 walks. The league is usually considered AAAA quality.
  7. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Oct 18, 2017 -> 02:20 PM) This is a fun argument, which one of the our pitchers should be crowned the minor league pitcher of the year, in all of baseball.. winner.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 15, 2017 -> 07:49 PM) ATVs and snowmobiles can be such bad news. Best wishes to his family. Especially with young men. Kid I knew growing up left himself paralyzed going too fast on a ATV and flipping with it landing on him. RIP Daniel, just awful to die so young and leaving a family behind.
  9. QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 03:41 PM) Was thinking about next years lineup and looking at some defensive numbers for Sox players. Carlos Sanchez is an elite defensive 3B. Of 3B with 350 innings played (Carlos only played 393 innings there this year), Carlos ranks as follows: UZR - 13th UZR/150 - 1st RZR - 1st DRS - 6th He still needs to increase improve his offensive profile to jump up into the next tier, but if he can play that type of defensive at 3B over the course of a 162 game season and stay around 95 wRC+, that should equate to a 3-4 win player. It should definitely be his job to lose next season and probably until Burger is ready or a FA stud is signed. Really good development for the rebuild though. The IF looks good next year. Around the horn you have Sanchez, Anderson, Moncada, Abreu. That's a pretty solid IF. I think TA will play a run neutral SS next year, which is basically what he did the last 50 odd games this year once he started to pick up the pieces from his friend's death.
  10. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 12:01 PM) Agree about Albuquerque gone and Putnam re-signed to a minor league deal. The numbers look pretty close although I think Avi's projection is a tad lite. I think Avi gets 8M and deserves it. Yea I know the arb process is moving away from traditional stats (where avi stands out) but there is no way the Sox low ball him like and go to arb. I'd bet they offer him 7.5 million, he counters 9 million, and they agree around 8 and avoid arb. The sox rarely if ever go to arb, right?
  11. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 01:50 PM) Berman sounded disappointed when Damon struck out. It's disgusting how hard Berman is rooting for the Sawx.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 11:04 AM) I don't think it really matters if a teammate had a problem with him, he was annoying to fans for good reason. Like him breaking his foot "jumping off a truck". When Kopech actually is, you know, at the show and he misses games for doing that, I'm sure people will be annoyed then too. I think this thread is dumb, but so is the "you can't hate sale unless you also hated everyone ever that also did things!" Yea with Sale it was a cumulative thing. Breaking his foot in spring training stupidly horsing around. Helping to escalate the La Roche situation by taking the side of La Roche and publicly spatting with the GM. Cutting up the jerseys. And all that is separate from the very real phenomenon, which we all saw, of him getting too amped up on the mound when he doesn't have his best stuff, over throwing, and making his stuff even worse because he's missing his spots by a good foot or more. He's a red ass. I played the same way and although Sale has more talent in his left toe than I do in my whole body I can tell you I rarely played well angry.
  13. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 10:10 PM) He's a spaz that over-throws when the adrenaline flows, he misses his spots and gets hit hard, with experience and late season throttling, this may be avoidable. It's hard to tell how much is mental or physical, the total package just comes with this kind of pitcher. yea you nailed it. said it perfectly really. if he has a flaw, it's that mentally, in tough spots, he over throws. It's obvious to long time observers. We saw it when he was here.
  14. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 01:03 PM) Yeah, I forgot about that. Or, I did a good job of erasing the image from my mind. Might be a good off season topic, most reviled former Sox. I'd have to put La Roche up there near the top.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 01:54 PM) If the White Sox didn't see Tyler Saladino as a part of the team this year (as in 18), he would already have been gone. They didn't hesitate to dump other guys in September and in October, why would Saladino be different? I'm not sure why he hasn't already been cut loose. They aren't doing Tyler any favors keeping him around when he's buried behind 2-3 guys for playing time. Maybe they think he has a modicum of trade value if he can prove his back issues are behind him and they can flip him as part of a package next July.
  16. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 08:10 PM) Catcher is such a critical position without offense even considered. Dude can take all the time he needs IMO. Glad it seems he works his ass off like Flo yea no rush. this year he needs to show something with the bat, but defensively he's making good progress. And yea, better to be a mediocre hitting catcher than corner player, big time.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 09:57 PM) Read that people think even with Park adjustments left fielders get screwed at Fenway with d metrics. well regress him +3 runs defensively and he's at 2.5 fwar over a full season. I'm not s***ting on the guy, he's a fine young player if he was on the Sox I'd be thrilled to have him. That said, he's not a power hitting 2B prospect with elite speed and raw power like Moncada. There is a reason Moncada was #1 and then came up and put up .9 fWAR in 50 odd games at 22. Moncada is just as good now (positional adjustment matters) and has an upside much higher.
  18. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 07:07 PM) Seeing a lot of Benintendi in New England, I would not trade him straight up for Moncada. I still think Moncada has the higher ceiling with power but Benintendi can do it all right now. He can hit, can play LF or CF, he can run( still erratic) and has a solid arm. He carried Boston until Devers and Nunez arrived in August. I love Moncada's potential, but Benintendi already shows production. Kid has a sweet swing. Lolwut? You realize Benitendi finished with a lower wrc+ than Moncada right? And that he is a year older and is a mediocre corner OF? There is no GM in baseball that even considers that trade.
  19. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 07:29 PM) Think they'll keep that rule when Kopech comes up? Kopech cut his locks back in spring to comply with the Sox' grooming standards.
  20. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 04:35 PM) The Twins have now been to the playoffs five times since 2004. They've lost all but one of the 14 games they've played in that time, including the last 13. If they don't win the first game of their next appearance, they will have the all time longest playoff skid. lol. Get Rekt.
  21. Occasionally when you trade 18 year old toolsy guys it comes back to bite you in the ass. Nobody could have predicted Tatis would turn into a top 30 guy. Point is to not be in desperation mode where you have to trade A ball kids to bring on a 4th starter so you can try and win 87 games. That's the whole point!
  22. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 11:49 AM) Sale and Q will be under the spotlight this week. Both had an impact on their teams winning their division. But now they have to produce in October when the pressure intensifies. We will see how they hold up. It will be really interesting if they meet a few weeks down the road. Not sure how many people watched last night but Kahnle and Robertson combined for 5/2/3 scoreless innings. I'm happy those guys are having success. Kahnle is just another feather in the Sox' organizational cap developing raw throwers. It will be harder for me to see Q pitch than Sale for some reason. I always wanted Q to pitch a Sox playoff game. Sale, while I respect his skill (stand in awe at times really) never really endeared himself to me the way Q did. The jersey thing last year took away a pretty big piece of my fandom for Sale. Dude is a little nutty and not always a great team mate. Q on the other hand is the ideal professional, clubhouse wise.
  23. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 12:08 AM) Fun game to watch. Yanks heading to Cleveland. Gary Sanchez better get those nuts on ice after taking a direct hit off a foul tip. that was nasty. reminded me of adrian beltre against the sox. Robertson pitched 3 and a 1/3 scoreless. Kahnle added 2 and a 1/3 more. Good trade by the yankees.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 11:54 PM) At least I have the guts to admit to my rating of 4. I'm not hiding behind my rating. It's gone up from the 2 last time. It can keep going up. The rebuild is off to a good start. It has a long way to go. I'd have given it a 5 (at this early early stage) but a.) did you see our record this year? b.) have you read the posts here? Some well respected posters in the last couple days have expressed some doubt regarding Burger, Rutherford, Rodon, Fulmer and during the season expressed concern about Lopez and TA. Also to have a great rebuild we're gonna need a bullpen someday; we're gonna need a DH, etc. Hence, 4 (AT THIS TIME). Why is my position so offensive? Cause I haven't drank the koolaid yet?? Be patient. My grade can go up. We're rating the rebuild right now. I know Eloy is doing great and know about Collins, etc. I follow it enough to know who is looking good. I'm pretty satisfied with the performance of our key players. Don't know why my position is so annoying. I want the rebuild to succeed; I acknowledge the rebuild could succeed. But I really don't think it deserves an 8 or 9 right yet. hey at least you reasoned it out in this one.
