  1. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 09:58 PM) Melky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's still a debacle.
  2. My god, Chris will actually have a shot at a win.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 09:29 PM) This team just can't hit
  4. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 09:28 PM) I still don't like Abreu batting second. He's our best source of power and has to bat 3rd, 4th, or 5th in the order. As soon as we have more than 1 player who deserves to be in a big league lineup I'll care more.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 08:55 PM) Mark Reynolds is the kind of profile to look for at this point. Can he develop that level of power in his mid-20s, though? when Reynolds was 24 he hit 28 homers in the big leagues.
  6. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 09:24 PM) I hate flowers so much. Anyone can see they are waiting for the high fastball yet he keeps calling it. With 2 strikes just stop and call for a change or slider Donaldson laid off a slider/change the pitch before the HR.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) Some very bad pitch calls, DJ has been saying Disagree. High fastball made him look foolish earlier this at bat, went down to change eye level before coming back up, pitch looked out of the zone, Donaldson was just flat out better.
  8. I still cannot believe Oakland gave him up in that package.
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 09:17 PM) MB is so lucky some times. "What a play by Wise"
  10. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 07:45 PM) AL Final Vote: Xander Bogaerts Yoenis Cespedes Brian Dozier Brett Gardner Mike Moustakas Ok KC...go nuts.
  11. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 07:36 PM) He was a part of the conversation though. If he strikes out another 10 tonight and his buzz continues, I think Yost goes with the hot hand. If he pitches next Saturday that'll make it tough to use him for 2 innings.
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) It is the Sox you know the outcome. Which is why the wait is getting annoying.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 04:52 PM) Given some of the scandals though, from Whitewater to foundation donations, to the email scandal, isn't some of that explanation self explanatory? She's got some dirt on her and everyone knows it. Of course reporters want to be the one that finds it. And of course Republicans are chomping at the bit because the country has been told for nearly two decades that she'll be the first female president. See the problem is...everything you mentioned was pretty much BS as a "Scandal". Some of them are "poor optics", but they're labeled as "scandals" even when they're not.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 04:00 PM) I hope he doesn't pitch at all I love watching Sale in the AS game and will turn on just for that. He's facing all stars and the all stars are legitimately outgunned. They have to just try to make contact.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 04:13 PM) No, but if it is, so be it. I think the more interesting question is if Sale was at 125 pitches with 9 strikeouts, would you be mad if he were lifted, or would it be worth the possible damage in order to get this "record" most likely no one but Red Sox fans even knew Pedro owned up until now? I'd say depends on the situation. 1 out and 2 runners on in close game, get him out of there. 2 outs, top 8th inning, no one on, still looks good? Fine, let him have one more hitter. But have the **** bullpen ready to go.
  16. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 03:51 PM) If this is what it looks like, move everyone else in the rotation up a day so Sale can pitch a full game. The version I see suggests it'll be clear around 7 for an hour then possibly a short burst of rain about 8. Unfortunately you don't do things like that, "make the person scheduled to go tomorrow go today" without any warning.
  17. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) I think trading Quintana for a gaggle of players is the best way to replenish our weakness. Then replace Quintana's spot in the rotation with one of the options at SP. IMO - this can work (if you get the right deal for Quintana) but I don't think it makes any sense to spend FA money on a starting pitcher...or really anyone this offseason if you do that. You're not likely to get guys who will step in and contribute on opening day next year as all stars for Quintana and we certainly don't have enough pieces to fill in any other holes from our org otherwise next year...so just play the guys we have. Fulmer and Johnson and Beck can cover 2 rotation slots, maybe even with a Montas sighting, for a team that traded away a high value starting pitcher.
  18. Confessions of a Clinton reporter, the Media's unspoken rules for covering Hillary:
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) Sale has to be the starter He'd be scheduled to pitch again on Saturday right? That could make starting the game tough/impossible for him.
  20. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 03:30 PM) Ok I can do better. Best return I can imagine for Quintana is Mookie Betts, Mookie Wilson, Kate Upton, 1996 Brady Anderson, and the Thunder God, Thor. I imagine we can send back John Danks' contract but also keep John Danks for depth. We'll also receive cash considerations and a bunch of IHOP gift cards to be distributed to Soxtalk posters in accordance to who has posted the fewest times complaining about Robin Ventura. You get Thor but no Mjolnir? I'm not doing the deal without that.
