  1. They're cutting down the hill next season? Thank God. I never liked that thing.
  2. So Roberto Hernandez (Formerly Fausto Carmona) against John Danks. Vintage 2007-2008 matchup.
  3. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 31, 2015 -> 12:48 AM) I'm pretty sure the Sox won't be giving up a 2016 1st rounder to sign a QO Free Agent. Scratch big impact bat with QO attached off of the list. Just to point out - as of right now the White Sox would have the 9th pick in the draft at the current pace and therefore would lose their 2nd round pick if they signed a QO free agent, not their first round pick.
  4. Danks gets his 1000th career strikeout to start the game.
  5. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 31, 2015 -> 02:21 PM) Where is Hawk? He is missing this road trip due to having a "minor operation" that they haven't elaborated on. Barring setbacks or any other news we expect him back when they get back to Chicago at last update. Chuck Swirsky, bulls radio guy, is subbing on this road trip.
  6. Apparently Danks has a career ERA over 9 against the Astros coming into this game
  7. QUOTE (scs787 @ May 31, 2015 -> 01:58 PM) A lot of people want Jo gone, but in your opinion wouldn't he fit the bill as that point forward perfectly? Let's just note this - Noah's skill level only matters as long as he can play and be effective on the court. Maybe that means 20-25 mpg, maybe that means he's coming off the bench, I don't know yet. Hopefully a full offseason without having to rehab the surgery to actually rest those knees will help, even if they'll never be perfect again.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) Keuchel is one of the favorites for the NL Cy Young but he isn't a huge strikeout guy. He gets by more with deception and movement than pure stuff. Pretty sure today was his season or career high in K's. There is a major issue here you have failed to grasp.
  9. QUOTE (LDF @ May 30, 2015 -> 10:36 PM) last week, somewhere in the rumors page was listed as Hou looking at Shark. No, someone suggested that because one of their pitchers is out for the next 6 weeks. It doesn't make sense unless the White Sox lose like their next 10 games and fall back to the worst record in baseball. That pitcher will be back before the trade deadline and the White Sox aren't in a hurry to throw in the towel yet.
  10. Jesus that's a lot of money for a guy who hasn't coached in the league before. Didn't Thibs start with only a 3 year deal?
  11. @CST_soxvan This was 16th time in Jose Quintana's career that White Sox scored no runs for him. Yet to hear him gripe or complain about lack of support.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 30, 2015 -> 08:42 PM) Sounds like a home game when the Hawks score I've got at least 1 buddy there making noise.
  13. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 30, 2015 -> 07:04 PM) Avoid signing career NL players. My defense of LaRoche is he has to adjust to a new league of pitchers. Adam LaRoche is literally doing fine. 5 HR, .800 OPS against righties, and trending up. That's what he's here to do.
  14. QUOTE (harkness @ May 30, 2015 -> 08:23 PM) I have read other threads thinking Sanchez isn't ready because of his hitting... this is far from the first time this has been brought up. If you are really considering the kids future - I'm not sure allowing him to continue to bat .150 for the next few weeks is good for his future. Big difference about Sanchez from Johnson - Carlos has been at Charlotte long enough that I can't make a case that he'll have anything left there to learn. Either he's going to learn how to hit big league pitching or he won't. The only place he's going to do that is against big league pitching. The ideal times for him to do that are with rebuilding teams, or with teams already out of the race, or with teams that are so loaded at every other position they can just cover for that one weakness, because he might well need a few months or longer to struggle before figuring things out. That's the problem with relying on rookies and then having 4 other holes in your lineup, the time it takes the rookie to adjust to the big jump in opposing talent is time you don't have. Either another example of poor roster planning or another example of failing to get a guy ready as fast as the team needed him to. (taht applies to both 2b).
  15. I guess we should be happy that Jennings pulled it together against the middle of their order last night.
  16. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 30, 2015 -> 06:17 PM) I would say being last in spending in the draft from 2007 to 2011 shows Sox passed on a ton of guys. Which is worse? Hands down passing on those 2. The Astros don't even have a first rounder from last year and they could have had Rodon. That's just awful. Yes we passed on Trout, but so did like 25 other teams. Those 2 were right there and known to be that good and they left them sitting there.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 30, 2015 -> 06:10 PM) You would have turned in your Astros fancard a lomg time ago. I will grant you this - we haven't screwed anything up nearly as bad as "passing on Bryant and Rodon" recently.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2015 -> 06:01 PM) 17k in 38 at bats for LaRoche against LHP Bah, this time we actually need to have him in there so I can't complain today.
  19. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 30, 2015 -> 05:32 PM) Not a team people are going to pay to see very much scoring 1 or 2 runs a game. I just paid $103 to do so in 2 weeks Then again, really good seats at this park.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2015 -> 05:21 PM) He should be playing 3 out of 4 games Disagree but not vehemently. He's been worse than flowers he's just gotten slightly more well timed hits.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2015 -> 05:19 PM) Never seen a catching tandem that struggled so much just to catch the ball. Twice this week for Soto in big spots. If he starts all the time he'll figure that out right?
  22. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 30, 2015 -> 01:13 PM) Robin is truly stupid. Emilio is DHing and Avi is in RF. This is the PERFECT time to DH Avi and help his knee out more instead of making him run around in the field. So does that mean no Abreu and LaRoche at 1b? Better than nothing.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 30, 2015 -> 11:39 AM) We should listen to the guy with a 5th grade education. Dr. Ozzie. Sit for omeday, problem solved. Besides, you said Abreu is a tick above average. How would that be a big loss? When you have 2 hitters in your whole lineup who are above average, losing 1 of them is a pretty big loss. And really, you totally cover yourself in dignity with the bolded. You can't make a valid point yourself about why its a good idea to play people until injuries get worse rather than giving them enough time off to manage them...so you devolve to making personal comments.
  24. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 29, 2015 -> 11:58 PM) Black was arguably the best hitter in Sox minor league system. Not the best prospect, but the guy could hit. So, he leaves mid-season and goes to Korea. Korea?? And the Sox (Hahn) said what? Sayonaro? Is there any story here worth reporting? Black was a guy who way particularly old for every level, wasn't likely to contribute anything more than Wilkins did for us last year, probably was told he similarly wouldn't have much of a chance with any of the other big league teams, but could earn a decent wage overseas. This happens with guys who hang around the minors for a while.
