  1. Shuck slid around the tag and he wasn't tagged until after he went past the base but I can't tell if his arm stayed on the base the whole time.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2015 -> 12:49 PM) I don't believe that for a second. Please, anyone else? This is beyond me.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 27, 2015 -> 12:52 PM) Well then, let's look at the Sox roster with the consensus Soxtalk opinion of each player: Eaton..shouldn't be leading off. Shouldn't have received an extension. Bad Melky...one of the worst hitters in the league Abreu...a hair above average, the league caught up to him LaRoche...awful. Adam Dunn II Garcia...horrible fielder, should crash and be a negative WAR guy Alexei....old and done. Get rid of Gillaspie...Hahn made a mistake by not getting a 3B this past winter Flowers...needs to be cut immediately Micah/Sanchez.......not ready with the glove for one, not ready with the bat for the other Soto...godawful Beckham.........we know what has been said about him. Unfortunately he made the team Bonifacio.......what's his purpose Shuck........he needs to go. Sale.....what's wrong. If he isn't throwing his slider a lot he isn't an ace Samardiza......horrible. Big mistake trading for him Q...flash in the pan is lacking an out pitch Danks.......nothing needs to be written Noesi.....see above Rodon......can't throw strikes. Won't be any good unless he has a change up. Jennings......bad Putnam....flash in the pan Petricka.......OK but nothing special Carroll......DFA candidate, should be in Charlotte Duke.......should never face LH hitters Robertson.....good, but yet some have concerns So the manager has a roster where, at least if you ever read a gamethread, at least 84% of it, is just plain bad. How can losing be on the manager? I agree with you, you have made an incredibly strong case that Rick Hahn should be fired immediately. He blew $50 million of his bosses' money on this **** show.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2015 -> 12:45 PM) lol. Ridiculous. There is obvious ground between the extremes you are giving. If you don't see it, you don't want to see it. And I didn't get mad, I just said it shocked me to see you advocating (and seemingly others) for the team moving. It still shocks me. It also sort of reinforces the whole "fickle" and "bandwagon" POV. Then please help me, explain it because I can't find it.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 27, 2015 -> 12:35 PM) Why is your solution to failure in a game designed for failure always to fire someone? Can't you come up with something a little more creative? Ok, demote and replace. The guy is being paid probably > a million dollars this year to run a sports team in a way that spends money wisely and wins ballgames - thus producing a financial return on investment. If he cannot handle that job then he does not deserve that position.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2015 -> 09:53 AM) If the idea that the Sox either have to have an ideal fan base, or move isn't hyperbole, I don't know what is. It is taking the debate to a ridiculous extreme that completely ignores reality, but then again, that is what most of this debate has been about. BTW, I don't think I ever saw you actually define what a bandwagon fanbase is. So what is your solution? You've said before that the White Sox can't rebuild because the fanbase won't survive multiple losing seasons. You've spent the entire thread saying that this bandwagon fan base can't be counted upon to support the team unless they're winning world series - even the division isn't enough. You get angry when someone points out that the logic you present leads to "this team therefore cannot survive in this city". What other options are there?
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 26, 2015 -> 09:44 AM) The lack of ability to score runs is what's killing the Sox Having an ERA that is 13/15 teams in the AL isn't helping.
  8. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 27, 2015 -> 11:14 AM) No, that's not true at all. Firstly, we're only dealing with the question of "will firing a manager in season improve the Sox chances to win," and secondly, we're only dealing with a job where the players have others actively trying to impede their success. Sports is an area where you can try and fail at your job. There doesn't exist the same gap between strategy and execution in nearly all office jobs. Sales probably comes closest. The thing that is missing from all the "fire RV" discussion is the complete lack of willingness for anyone to accept the possibility that the players are simply failing because success is hard. Every single at bat in baseball, someone fails and someone succeeds. There isn't always an explanation you can put on a flowchart. It's certainly plausible that something is wrong upstairs that is leading to failure on the field, but none of us have any way of knowing and the play on the field is not remotely close to sufficient evidence. In that case, the team's general manager vastly overestimated the talent available on his team because some of them had made it look too easy last year and invested $50 million this season based on that overestimation. The team's General Manager then has completely failed at his job by any reasonable standard, costing his employer a huge amount of money. He should be replaced.
  9. QUOTE (Mike F. @ May 26, 2015 -> 10:28 PM) This will be a 1-9 trip. I can just see it now. It's 11 games. You're predicting a rainout? With 2 domes?
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 26, 2015 -> 10:26 PM) @paul_casella Donaldson is just the 40th player since 1914 with 4+ hits, 2 HR, 5+ runs and 4+ RBIs in a single game. I still can't believe how little the Blue Jays gave up to get that guy.
  11. @paul_casella Donaldson is just the 40th player since 1914 with 4+ hits, 2 HR, 5+ runs and 4+ RBIs in a single game.
  12. At least that one was an entertaining game.
  13. So, Duke getting in trouble in the 8th against righties, Robertson comes in for the extra long save, it doesn't work. Snowballing.
  14. Not sure I've seen Robertson hang a breaking ball like that all year.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 26, 2015 -> 10:10 PM) I guess sample size doesn't count anymore. But the reason they gave him $15 million was he was able to get guys out from both sides. You're right....about 2014, where both righties and lefties had sub-.600 OPS against him. In 2015 so far, that's not who he is.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 26, 2015 -> 10:06 PM) Duke isn't a LOOGY. .809 OPS against Righties, .510 OPS against lefties coming in. That's some pretty major splits.
  17. back and forth and back and forth and back
  18. How is the back end of the Jays bullpen/closer?
