  1. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jan 2, 2015 -> 03:50 PM) whats that picture from in your new avatar? Age of Ultron promo art.
  2. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jan 2, 2015 -> 03:44 PM) some of the revenue raising stuff, like speed cameras that ding you with $100 ticket for going 5 over the limit, are ridiculous. How dare you attempt to justify breaking the law.
  3. Plus...poor people being hassled by the police and used as a revenue source for cities that don't want to raise taxes on the important people is a significant piece of the problem anyway!
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 2, 2015 -> 12:41 PM) Im not a Star Wars fan but how could you be surprised? It's a phenomenon. Wait until fall when the release gets even closer. I lived through the last 3 and watched people get more and more down about them as they were released. Similar recent effect is the Hobbit - first one here was big news, by this one I saw it but knew it was going to be terrible and no one really seemed to care.
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 1, 2015 -> 10:32 PM) Clicked the link expecting Star Wars, closed out of the window very disappointed. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 2, 2015 -> 12:21 PM) This. Agreed. Genuinely surprised that people are looking forward to that movie so much.
  6. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 2, 2015 -> 10:43 AM) has anyone heard of this rumor. i guess in a south thing. there is a mass talked of Jordon coming out to play in a series of games...... at age 58 or something like that. i tried to read all the sport sites and nothing. is it true or crap. Seriosly, you actually have to ask?
  7. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 1, 2015 -> 06:16 PM) Haha man I really wanted to read that article and then noticed it was Insider. Confirmation bias not to get insider We don't mind at all if people send the text of insider articles over PM.
  8. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 1, 2015 -> 10:32 PM) Clicked the link expecting Star Wars, closed out of the window very disappointed. To be fair, my avatar and quote at the left aren't exactly hiding which movie I might have at top of list.
  9. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 1, 2015 -> 10:32 PM) Clicked the link expecting Star Wars, closed out of the window very disappointed. Yeah, barely excited. Liked seeing the Millennium Falcon in the trailer but literally haven't watched a solid, new Star Wars movie since I was
  10. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jan 1, 2015 -> 10:01 PM) Very interesting discussion. So any guesses as to what happens after 2019, after the Cubs terminate their involvement with CSN and move to their own regional sports network? Do the Sox continue on with CSN, and do they benefit by potentially increasing their % ownership due to the Cubs departure? Really tough to predict since still so far out. 2019 to now is like now to pre 2009-season. The media environment has completely changed since then, who knows what these contracts will look like in 5 more seasons. No one in 2009 predicted the kind of TV Money the Dodgers and others would start getting.
  11. So Hinrich is 4/4, 2/2 from 3, 2 ast 2 reb, +16 on the game. Ok, these things happen.
  12. So this is what a Florida State/Winston loss looks like.
  13. I am far, far, far more excited by Marvel's :30 second spot announcing Ultron trailer 2 during the championship game than anything else in this game. Not even close.
  14. I just posted this in the 2014 thread but realized it's a new year. No other movie should lead off this thread. The only movie that matters in 2015 just ran a commercial during the Rose Bowl for their next trailer. A commercial for a trailer just convinced me to watch the NCAA championship game. So, trailer #2, 11 days.
  15. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 1, 2015 -> 06:52 PM) i will reissue this same question with the new year being in. what can we look for from Hahn. what kind of bench type, player do the sox should be looking for? remember the soxfest is around the corner and spring training is after that.... Add me one "Marcus Semien-like" bat for the bench/IF and I think this goes from a weak bench to a strong bench.
  16. Trailer 2 premier for the only 2015 movie that matters announced to appear January 12 during the NCAA Football championship game. Corollary: I will be watching the NCAA Football Championship game this year.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 1, 2015 -> 06:40 PM) Unless maybe the Eagles draft him I will be stunned if the iggles draft a QB.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 1, 2015 -> 05:57 PM) So...Marrone interviewing with Bears Good sign but you pretty much have to. My guess is he will take the Jets if offered.
  19. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 1, 2015 -> 05:40 PM) So when is a bowl game a referendum on a conference and team as opposed to a team not being motivated There've been lots of years where we've indicted the Big 10, probably appropriately, based on generally crappy bowl game performances, so I'm kinda happy with today so far.
  20. Lebron is out for the next 2 weeks with knee and back strains.
  21. So, news organizations generally aren't very happy when websites excerpt entire articles, especially when they do so without adding a link. A good rule of thumb is to excerpt a short block of text that you think makes an important point and then add in the actual hyperlink to the website - otherwise we're technically committing copyright infringement and just hoping that no one will ever complain.
  22. Writer at cleveland.com is floating Lebron's output as a potential path for him to "bolt" from Cleveland again next offseason.
  23. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 01:43 PM) That was precisely what I was hinting at. I agree that he wouldn't fall off the face of the earth by age 37-38. I actually DON'T want to go after him for another reason. It could play out in two scenarios for us. We acquire him and lose him in free agency or we lock him up for a huge deal. I wouldn't want to trade the farm for him for just 1 year, because for what? If we do lock him up, it wouldn't be cheap. With no contracts coming off the book next year, it would also impact our flexibility to resign Shark as well as extending some of the guys like Eaton and Avi, and upgrade in the positions of greater need, 3B and C. We already have 2 prospects who are close to ML ready at 2B. At some point you got to play them. That's why the "trade for Zobrist so prospects could develop" argument doesn't work here. If we are going to trade prospects for a position player, it better be a 3B or C, as we don't have in house replacements, or a 2B with a cost controlled contract. The question to ask in reply is...would you be willing to miss the playoffs this year if Sanchez and Johnson can't provide decent performance out of 2b?
