    Alright begin

Can someone else write the joke about Kyle having no knowledge of the V?
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 12:35 PM) He started in that position, he ran up to Cobb and then let him run past. Honestly, it isnt reasonable to ask Wright to cover both sides of the field in that call. You cant flush Rodgers like that and have only one guy playing center field Why? We saw why Presumably in the call someone else was supposed to release over the top, perhaps the CB playing to the outside of Conte. Instead if that CB got the blitz call and went into man coverage, staying with the receiver on the sideline, it removed the help that Conte would have had in the original playcall.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 12:31 PM) I think we can assume the play called asked something different of Conte than normal Cover 2 deep coverage. He thought he had the flat, which means he probably thought they were in Cover 3 with corners and Major Wright in deep coverage That does seem like a fairly reasonable call for a 4th and long, to note.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 12:29 PM) I'm thinking they would like this, at this point: Konerko [backup catcher TBD] 4th OF that isn't ADA or Viciedo 3B/2B/1B/emergency LF Gillaspie Jake Elmore or similar player (RH bat, all IF positions and in his case OF as well, eliminating need for Gillaspie to be emergency player ther) That leaves them only a 6 man bullpen. Especially with the veterans they signed, difficult to see that happening. The bench typically gets 4 slots. Konerko, Catcher, OF, IF.

Sold. Here's the ball. Wait, I mean here's my signature.
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 12:28 PM) The safety is usually the "help over the top" though, unless Wright was supposed to cover either side of the field But from where he was playing he wasn't set in an "over the top" position, he was up close to the line. That would seem to me to suggest the over the top help would have come from somewhere else - perhaps a LB dropping back or one of the CB's? His position at the time of the snap suggests that if he was supposed to drop into a zone, he wasn't covering the deep zone.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 12:25 PM) Sooooo, even if he didnt get the check to a blitz, didnt he still f*** up? He is the safety, if he was in a zone shouldnt he have followed Cobb instead of sitting down up front and releasing Cobb behind him? If he thought they were in a zone then wouldn't he have expected he had help over the top if Cobb kept going?

    Alright begin

"Quit getting hurt" was hopefully his reply.
  9. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 11:59 AM) In fairness to Jay, the Bears beat the Packers on Sunday... well, the offense did. The defense.. not so much. Well, in fairness to the defense, the Packers averaged over 26 ppg this season and over 30 in games Rodgers played...so 33 wasn't a terrifically bad showing.
  10. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 11:54 AM) But that's the problem -- we need a guy that can play SS. If Davidson makes the team out of ST, right now the bench looks like: 1B/DH Konerko C Flowers/Nieto OF De Aza/Viciedo IF Keppinger ?? That fifth slot, which they probably would rather not even carry in lieu of another reliever anyway, absolutely must be someone that can play SS, as that's the only position not covered. Battling for that final slot will be Garcia, Danks, Gillaspie, and Semien at a minimum. Semien can start in AAA, and Garcia is the only other one that can handle SS. That leaves both Gillaspie and Danks without a job, and I'd be surprised if we didn't lose one or both to waivers because neither has anything to prove in AAA. The sad thing is, I made a big deal about the obvious lack of backups when Konerko was signed, and that's no longer the worst problem on the roster. The problems on the roster now are: 1. No room for Davidson without releasing Gillaspie/Keppinger 2. De Aza is a terrible option as a backup OF for this team 3. There's no one to back up shortstop other than Leury and there's no roster spot for Leury without releasing both Gillaspie and Keppinger I'll be impressed if they can just solve the first 2.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 11:33 AM) Jesus Christ is that a s***-ton of money. How much did they think he'd get in FA? The franchise tag for a QB is waht, close to $18 million right?

    Alright begin

Obviously the sound of Bears fans ever time Rodgers gets the ball with a chance to win.

    Alright begin

Many Packers defensive backs think the same thing when Cutler drops back.
  14. Anyone know how much is guaranteed? A limited guarantee could be a really good reason for front-loading it.
  15. Well, I guess they had to get it done, and the Packers can be thrilled.

  21. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 09:12 AM) If they did it anonymously, then they shouldn't have done it. Like the anonymous hints we constantly kept getting about him using drugs during the season? Or the leak about the whole "offering up their bats to a blow-up doll" scene?
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 09:01 AM) Big difference between sending a message to a guy still on your team and trashing a guy after he's gone. I think Swisher counts as a guy the White Sox trashed a whole lot after he was gone.
  23. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 08:44 AM) The point still remains. I don't think anyone is questioning what was said, rather that this faceless guy just hurt Eaton's reputation out of cowardice. OTOH, all the time we see veterans getting praise for trying to teach cocky youngsters how to stay under control. That's enforcing clubhouse discipline or something like that. I'm pretty sure we are spending a couple million on a guy just for that purpose. Remember when Lastings Milledge hit his first big league HR and started high-fiving the crowd? Who got the positive feedback...the arrogant youngster or the rest of the clubhouse for reacting negatively to it anonymously?
  24. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 12:18 AM) Watched Blackfish for a second time tonight. Really great and eye opening documentary. Plus the fact that I know the niece of the woman who was recently killed at Seaworld. I noticed there was a f***ton of extra security next to the Sea World Rose Parade float yesterday.
