  1. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 14, 2013 -> 03:18 PM) You tell your kid it's an abberation because that's what it is. It's sad how completely normal random shootings of unarmed, unthreatening people are in this country.
  2. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 14, 2013 -> 03:59 PM) Wow what got into veal? Breading and parmesean cheese?
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 14, 2013 -> 01:58 PM) Was De Aza playing him really shallow? Looked very shallow, which is weird since it's always talked about him playing deep.
  4. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 14, 2013 -> 01:23 PM) I assume you don't have kids based on this, but seriously...were you EVER a kid? Did you ever have any sort of, "what to do in an attempted kidnapping training", or "what to do when a stranger tries to give you candy" lessons? Or even, what to do if you're actively being stalked? Seriously. I figured this was something every parent put their kids through. You can't control being suspicious to someone, but you CAN attract attention if some creep ass is following you. You yell, you scream, you make noise...you attract attention, you bang on a neighbors door, a strangers door, whoever has lights on, or...if you're close enough to home, you go there. If you're caught by a person like this, yes, you defend yourself and yes, that CAN lead to death. In short, you do what you have to do to get away, or find help/attract help, or defend yourself when necessary. Oh, so he's supposed to start running and then head up to a door? Yeah, that's a great way to look suspicious. You've just gone another step and confirmed that he's up to no good, he's not just on a public sidewalk, now the suspicious kid has gone and hid next to the house he's going to break into.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 14, 2013 -> 12:51 PM) I don't like it when people bring up Burress or Vick, they have nothing to do with this. Different states. Different crimes. Different evidence. One of the things someone wrote on your facebook page really hit me. One poster basically said "I'm the mother of a teenage son. What do I tell my son he should do to avoid this?" I keep running through the options. Run? Martin did that, the response was "oh he's running", running or hiding makes him a suspect more. Approach the strange guy in the car who's following you?Crazy. Defend yourself? That just gives the guy a reason to shoot. Wait and let him do whatever he's going to do? Why on Earth do you assume this guy following you is a good guy and not out to kidnap you? The only things I can come up with are don't be "suspicious", which seems kinda difficult...and carry a gun yourself.
  6. One of my friends is complaining about a bunch of people setting off fireworks around (NW Indiana).
  7. 86 pitches through 6 for Santiago. That's really good for him.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 10:13 PM) Can we just give away Florida and Texas to Mexico? Why just those states? This is the American gun culture.
  9. Not surprising at all. This is what the lawmakers of the state of Florida want.
  10. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 08:00 PM) Yeah, De Aza is a guy I would float 4/20-4/24 at and just stick in LF while we rebuild and develop some new outfielders. Maybe he tears it up in the 1st half next year and we can trade him then for better value. His arb status means that his value is probably at its highest now. He starts getting progressively more expensive over the next couple years and might hit the "non-tender candidate" point one of them.
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 07:33 PM) Say what you want about John Danks with the contract and everything, but coming back from shoulder surgery. He has looked like the front end of the rotation John Danks we all thought of these last 5 starts. He has pitched real well this year in my opinion. Contract aside, I'm very happy to go into next year with Sale, RHP, Danks, Quintana, and Santiago. Hopefully we trade Peavy. I really wonder if they're willing to go with a 4 lefty rotation for a full year. I might well do it, but I wonder if they're unconventional enough to throw that out there.
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 07:24 PM) OPS over .750. Get that OBP .15 higher and he's a great hitter. That early-season slump accounts for a chunk of that too.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 07:21 PM) Is it just me or is ADA heating up? He's been tearing it up since late may at least, maybe longer.
  14. So would they still plan to empty the park and then have a 2nd game? Wouldn't the ticketholders for the 2nd game have arrived hours ago?
  15. Nate Robinson drawing interest from the nuggets, return to the Bulls "unlikely to the extreme"
  16. I can't tell from the front camera but Viciedo's balance at the plate looks a little different here?
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 04:46 PM) I read the prosecution team could be facing criminal charges down the road. I would imagine a guilty verdict wouldn't mean much if that is the case. all right, either you need to add a link or details about why the prosecution would be facing charges, because that sounds nuts?
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 04:21 PM) Just based on the history of pitchers fully recovering from shoulder surgery. With that said, his stuff is so much better than we thought it would be heading into the year. His main flaw has always been his lack of command. I think his main flaw has always been that he never had a pure strike out pitch other than the changeup. That's the reason why he never took that last step.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 04:20 PM) How funny is it that Beckham might be our best trade chip right now? You're funny.
