QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Apr 14, 2013 -> 12:27 PM) If Olacio keeps on screwing up this year, will he still be considered a prospect? I think the hope for him is based in large part on having a good arm and developing the rest, IIRC.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 14, 2013 -> 01:04 PM) Mets-Twins PPD til 8/19. Year-long interleague play!! Less travel!!! No!!! Interleague Tally through 4/14: AL- 3 NL- 8 You mean a team had a rainout in april and moved the game to august? They moved a game from a time when people are still in school to the middle of the summer when it's actually a great time to go to a game? Never!

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 14, 2013 -> 12:05 AM) I used to defend Ozzie for bunting in obvious bunt situations as well. Even when our guys feebly failed the bunt try. I'd say, 'Is it his fault a big leaguer can't bunt a guy over??' I'd say every manager in the world would bunt in obvious bunt situations. But even I am getting tired of seeing guys like Alexei and Beckham (before he got hurt) look like fools trying to bunt. I'm amazed that guys like Ramirez haven't learned how to bunt. I mean there are a lot of situations during a season in which they are called upon to bunt. You'd think during the winter or sometime they'd go to a warm weather climate and work on their weaknesses. I'm sure Alexei doesn't want to look like a fool and fail miserably when asked to bunt. So why doesn't he do something about it?? Alexei actually does a decent job of bunting...when he's trying to bunt for a base hit. When he's trying to bunt for a base hit, he's not stabbing at the ball, he just puts the bat out. When he tries to sacrifice, he has the bat out there earlier so his brain reacts to the ball and tries to move the bat into it; exactly the opposite of what you need to do. Doing a sacrifice correctly isn't an easy thing to do. You have to break yourself of the urge to stab at the ball.

Seriously? Man, not a good start for the middle IF's.

How about we try a bit more today? Jake?

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) Robin not doing his job is alot of the reason this thread exists. They were 20x better prepared coming out of training camp last year.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 05:41 PM) Odds a sox batter gets hit? Did they issue warnings?
-
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 05:35 PM) How good did Sale hit Swisher? I missed it. Hopefully it looked intentional. Curveball, hit him on the back foot, definitely not intentional.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 05:32 PM) Any reason to leave Sale out there ? He's got nothing. Something has got to get this pitching staff stretched out past 75 pitches.
-
Well then, I see Care Bears: To the Rescue is on.
-
That ball went a long way.
-
Aw nuts, I just realized Sale was at the 75 pitch mark.
-
Sadly shell shocked sale.

How many pitches can I throw right down the middle of the plate at the Cuban Batter before he swings and misses?

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 05:03 PM) Viciedo and the inexperience excuse is getting tiresome. He played a full season in LF last year. Considering he probably saved at least a run last night with a catch or two...you can't give up a run by being careless.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 05:02 PM) It actually hit the wall first, then bounced down off his glove. A play that probably should have been made though, but it happens on the road when you're inexperienced and everything's going wrong that can go wrong, seemingly. I just did the replay DVR thing, it bounced above his glove because he didn't have his arm fully extended up. He had his arm too low, he was extending it when it hit the wall. It was an easy catch, his arm was in the wrong spot.
-
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 05:00 PM) No. The ball hit the wall a good foot and a half above Vicideo's glove. An athletic fielder like Wise may have been able to jump up and catch it on the wall, but most OFers would have just played it off the wall anyway. It looks dumb, but it was not even close to being an error. That ball hit his glove
-
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 04:59 PM) Viciedo wouldn't have had it anyway, but it sure did look ugly. And then what do you know, he comes around to score........ How would he not have had that? It literally bounced off of his glove.
-
Yet another run entirely on the defense, even if it's not counted as an error somehow.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 04:57 PM) ? Fly ball to the wall, bounced off of Viciedo's glove after he stood waiting for it for like 5 seconds.
-
OH COME ON.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 04:54 PM) Like that scary Rangers' game last year when the velocity drop was so noticeable. DJ and Farmer not saying anything at all about it. His top FB's been 92 today? Is that right? 77 on the curveball. He just threw 91 there.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 04:54 PM) And to those people, I say that's a bad idea. The scary thing with Dunn's struggles is that he's hitting around .150 and it's been almost entirely against RHP. Considering how many players in our core lineup really struggle vs RHP, he needs to be a much bigger force. Maybe he should bunt more?
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 04:51 PM) 1 for his last 18, and of those 17 outs, only 3 Ks So, basically exactly what people wanted him to do? Swing earlier, put the ball in play, stop swinging for the fences every time?

nice pitch
