QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 10:48 AM) Watched Red tails last night, and it was awful. Every character and plot line was a horrible shallow cliche. Just terrible. 2k5 and I agree on something. Caught that like a week and a half ago, was totally unimpressed. The Fishburn/Gooding Jr. version of that story which appears occasionally on TV was 10x better.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 08:57 AM) Watched most of Lincoln last night (finishing it up tonight). Interesting movie. not sur eon my thoughts about it. I find it interesting that they decided to give Lincoln a softer/comedic side that you almost never see elsewhere. I thought his performance was great, I thought the movie was ok, I thought that some of the elements weren't dealt with in quite enough detail and it was a bit scatterbrained overall, in no small part because they were dealing with just a small part of his career. The best part was seeing how the man was portrayed, but the surrounding plot line didn't stand up to his performance.

Bring documents for everything you have. Make sure you know what your employer's rules are for Jury duty; most employers have certain amounts of time that they will let people off for this purpose. Find out what those rules are, get a document that shows it, bring that document with. Bring documents showing your work schedule and any commitments you have such as travel plans. If your employer does not specifically give certain amounts of time off, bring some information about your actual work duties. For example, I had jury duty while a college student. The college didn't specifically limit the amount of time I could take off, but the judge wasn't going to pull people out of school for a multi-week trial as long as I had my course and travel schedule with me. Do not give a smart aleck response to anything. Be honest and professional. Carry yourself like an adult, don't give them reason to dislike you. If you have to be there, deal with it. A tie is not necessary, but don't look like a bum. If you are picked, the odds are it would be on a short trial. If a long duration trial is necessary, they'll be bringing in hundreds of people because most people won't be able to make the commitment. A careful judge will make sure people document their reasons why they can't serve on that multi-month trial, which is why you should bring work and travel and schedule related documents with you and know how long your employer will give you off of work without penaltyl.

QUOTE (JoshPR @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 10:08 PM) What In God's earth could that tool possibly be defending? Who is he blaming now? The OF did give up a free run also.

The FBI raided the headquarters of Pilot gas stations today. Their CEO, Jimmy Haslam, bought the Cleveland Browns last year.

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 09:39 PM) We helped our ole pal Buehrle reduce his ERA by almost 3 runs, always such a giving organization. Eh, not as good as what we did to brett Myers, his dropped by over 4.

QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 09:25 PM) It's inconceivable that that could even happen. It's a completely different context, situation, and in a few cases, players. That shouldn't happen and if it continues would be a fireable offense (if this was ANY OTHER organization besides the Chicago White Sox) Happened to the Braves and Red Sox last year.

A third victim has died.

QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 09:12 PM) Sit Flowers and Dunn For Giminez and what, the pitcher?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 08:23 PM) Pretty soon...it will be, Beckham would have had that ball, Beckham could have thrown him out from there...Beckham would have turned that double play, lol. Although if Gillaspie continues to hit 300+, nobody will complain about him. That won't stop people from comparing him to Keppinger, though. Beckham went through spring training with the Sox, he'd be making plenty of bonehead mistakes too.

Yeah, totally on the defense.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 08:16 PM) Why can't we hit the f***ing cutoff man? I think the entire team slept through ST. These fundamentals are a joke. That run is on the OF throw, was it De Aza or Viciedo?
-
Cutoff man missed. Sigh.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 05:08 PM) Apparently they did indeed cut cell service to prevent more detonations QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 05:23 PM) I don't know if they could randomly trigger a bomb, but a cell phone can be used to intentionally trigger a bomb. It's a common technique for IED's. Verizon and Sprint issued statements saying they did not deactivate their networks and were not asked to do so by any agency. Calls simply overehelmed capacity.

QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 06:35 PM) Some representative from Mass. said on CNN that they found 2 undetonated (sp?) bombs. At this point, I think the morning newspapers are likely to be the first place that really has everything cleared up in terms of number of devices, number of injuries, extent of injuries, etc.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 06:32 PM) That's kinda sad I'm familiar with this "Patriot day".

QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 06:26 PM) It is Patriot Day in Massachusetts. The first time I ever heard of this holiday was today.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 06:18 PM) It being on tax day I feel like it has to be domestic. Eh, the Boston Marathon would strike me as a major international target as well, regardless of the date.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 06:17 PM) if it were foreign someone would have taken credit by now... I'd bet multiple websites have done so. Why any of them should be believed would be a reasonable question.

QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 06:13 PM) The usual, we will find who did this and hold them responsible, thanked the responders, pointed out today is Patriot Day. We'll pull together, etc. We'll keep you informed. Yeah, nothing earth-shattering, no hints at all about who did this.

President expected to issue a statement momentarily. No idea on content.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 06:01 PM) I doubt NY wants to face the Bulls, with or without Rose. Right now? I'd want the Bulls as a 2nd round matchup, they're less deep than some college teams. With Noah and Gibson and Hamilton and Hinrich all playing, that's a different story, but what are the odds of that?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 06:01 PM) The JFK library incident wasn't what I was referring to. http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/15/us/boston-ma...ions/index.html Authorities in Boston found at least one other explosive device that they were dismantling, Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis said. There were definite reports of the police detonating something an hour or so after the initial blasts.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 04:54 PM) Boston Police Confirm Explosion At JKF Presidential Library, No Injuries [update, 5:31 p.m. ET] Boston police now appear to be backing away from their commissioner's earlier statement that a third incident – at the JFK Library 5 miles from the finish line - might have been related to the Boston Marathon blasts. On Twitter, Boston police say: "Update JFK incident appears to be fire related."

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 05:53 PM) also, 22 people are injured (maybe more), that's not nothing. Last report from CNN said 100+.
