  1. Ah yes, the guy who bunted into the triple play.
  2. I love it when Alexei singles on that grounder up the middle. That's when he's keeping everything on line.
  3. I really like what Q has been doing to the righties, every one of his pitches bites in on them late.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 05:30 PM) One thing I can promise we aren't trading for is starting pitching. Closest thing we have to a "Hard throwing righty" in the system is Castro...be nice if he could pull everything together this year.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 05:13 PM) Quintana for Verlander You want to take on that contract? I'm not sure I do.
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 04:02 PM) The White Sox were 17-21 on May 18th last year. They looked like a mediocre, terrible, .500 team. In fact, it was actually a pretty damn good team that had a pretty terrible collapse over the last 2 weeks of the season that brought them to only 8 games over .500 (Pyth W-L was 88-74). They don't look good right now, but in 2 weeks time, they could look great. It's a long season, and anyone making judgment calls right now is doing the same thing as predicting the entire Bears' season based off of 1 game. To be fair, around May 18th, the Sox also had gotten what, a .400 OPS out of 3rd base?
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 03:21 PM) And Quentin could have avoided a suspension and breaking Greinke's collarbone if he's the bigger man. He needs to just walk away in that situation and get him later in the game. You don't get paid to fight and you don't put runs on the scoreboard for throwing punches. Quit excusing your actions because someone else opened their mouth. And that's the same Carlos Quentin who lost his temper and maybe cost us a shot at a playoff series win in 2008.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 02:02 PM) I dont care about it, if a pitcher throws at someone he should understand that they may get hit back. Also if a 240 lb power hitter runs at you, you dont lower your shoulder like an idiot when you are a skinny waif. What exactly should he have done? Run? Duck and get slammed into the ground?
  9. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 12:37 PM) That is a respectable ERA. The starting pitching is what sucked. Peavy and Floyd serving up longballs like it's going out of style. They both collapsed right around 75 pitches.
  10. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 10:32 AM) I agree with Don Mattingly, Quentin deserves to be suspended for as long as Greinke is out. That was a stupid f***ing charge of the mound. A 3-2 pitch in a 2-2 game. And Greinke didn't say s*** until Q stood in front of the plate glaring at him. He's smarter than that and a better guy than that. The same temper that cost him the MVP just made him look like a total d-bag. What's the longest anyone's ever been suspended for a brawl before in MLB? Milton Bradley perhaps?
  11. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 08:54 AM) Yes please can we rush right out and sign Sizemore. That .659 OPS he's put up since 2010 will look really intimidating as our cleanup hitter. I agree with Lillian. The .184 batting average Dunn has put up since 2011 is totally unacceptable. The .220 batting average Sizemore has put up since 2010 is exactly the solution. JUST THINK OF THE UPGRADE!
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 03:00 AM) At no point did I feel like we were gonna beat the Nats the last three nights. Our starting pitching needs to pick it up big time. Yup. If the starting pitchers can't give 80+ pitches, we have bigger problems.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 05:52 PM) Never. Even bad news isn't stopping the market these days. Oh god, someone said that the market will never drop! Good god Sell now!
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:06 PM) Russillo had Schilling on yesterday (because Van Pelt was doing the Masters) and they pointed out how little most coaches make, which is ridiculous, considering that even a fringe MLB veteran costs $2-3 million annually. Many good field coaches or minor league coaches are making less than a few hundred thousand a year, sometimes even $50k or so... What a HUGE market inefficiency! These guys are critical in developing your young players...they may be some of the most important employees in your entire organization, and many are making the same as you and I...or less... Seems like a wise thing to do would be to stack your minor league teams with some of the best developmental coaches in baseball by paying them above market rate...and this can go all the way up to the big league club's field coaches...Hell, even guys like your GM and your assistant GM's are having incredibly disproportionate affects on your organization in relation to their paycheck... The other problem there is numbers. If you had coaches of singular ability that could not be replicated, that's worth a high salary, but if a guy can be replaced readily with many people with similar levels of experience (for example, if many of those spots were filled by ex-players who wish to continue involvement with the game), that will drive wages down.
  15. From the category of "How could a human seriously do this"...man arrested in Missouri for refusing to leave his husband's bedside in the hospital, barred from visitation.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 02:48 PM) So when does the bottom drop? I'll say several years. No sign yet that we're moving past the current stasis, nothing nearly so obvious as the last couple bubbles. The caveat to that could be a gigantic fraud in the banking system, which is not out of the realm of possibilities.
  17. 50/50 chance this effectively ends his career with the Sox. He'd have to come back raking now, no time at all to struggle.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 02:06 PM) Yeah, I know they aren't gonna lead the world in OBP. But they aren't gonna finish last in the league under .300, that's for sure. Last year the Sox got a cumulative .286 OBP out of 3b and .324 out of catcher, and those 2 positions are the ones that turned over in the offseason. I still will find it difficult to believe we haven't upgraded OBP at those 2 positions. We were 7th in the AL in OBP last year overall at .318.
  19. If Beckham has to Dl, call up Omogrosso and flip to a 6 man rotation for 2 turns.
  20. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 08:57 PM) i think its Flowers They showed Parent sending calls in to Flowers last inning
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 05:13 PM) Well, It isnt like it is a huge drop from Viciedo. Defensively it probably is.
  22. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 04:28 PM) No love for LSU? Yeah, throw them in too.
