  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:51 PM) WTF Quintana. Where was this the first inning? Q ERA by inning: 1. 5.40 2. 6.05 3 4.58 4 3.72 5 1.06 7 0.00 8 0.00 He gets past that first inning or two and that's the last the offense does.
  2. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:47 PM) I didn't get where the "trade bait", "another year in the minors" bulls*** is coming from. Fans have probably more faith in Sale and Q for wins than the veterans. Both have not pitched a full season in their career. Peavy-fail Danks-injured-epic fail Floyd? I woudlnt' say another year in the minors, but I could see Quintana getting sent down at some point next year. He's had so many more innings this year, his arm just may never be fresh next year at all if he doesn't get hurt. That's basically the Verducci effect summed up...so many more innings on his arm, struggles or injury. If he stays healthy but puts up an ERA >5, then people might give him some minor league time to try to get a groove.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:50 PM) Time for a patented Q recovery? I'll put money on Quintana leaving this game after 5-6 with exactly 4 runs given up if anyone wants to take that bet.
  4. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:40 PM) we don't care about his tax returns. we wish to see his academic transcripts. no Obama transcripts, no more Romney tax returns. I see, so where are Mitt Romney's college transcripts? Or do only the blacks need to provide that? After all, Mitt Romney didn't benefit from any affirmative action, he's white and rich. That's the right way to get into Harvard and totally undeserving of similar random, unsupported suspicions.
  5. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:18 PM) OH, but we'll never know, because while every f***ing ® has to release everything, the (D) has a very personal life to protect. This makes the media hypocritical douchebags. Here are 11 years of the President and Vice President's tax returns. Hypocritical douchebag indeed. That's totally what you asked for, right, because otherwise that rant would be incredibly racist, so I assume your next post will be stating how outraged you are at Mitt Romney for the various tax tricks he's used.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:27 PM) I'm not ready to close the book on Q, but he won't get a real long leash next year. We won't know until then if this is fatigue related or not. The dude is 23. He might get "Sent down" next year, but he gets a long leash in terms of development given what he's done this year.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:26 PM) Steve Stone all but begging for the Sox to shut down Quintana. It really wouldn't shock me if they use him as a trade chip this offseason. If he can get through 2 innings...
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:14 PM) Yeah, I'm in a s***ty mood to start with. Have a feeling this one is going to be over early.
  9. QUOTE (SI1020 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 06:25 PM) I think I agree with you. The K/9 ratios are insane when compared to previous eras. When I was a kid there were MLB pitchers that threw as hard as anyone today, but overall there is just a higher percentage of power pitchers today. It may not just be that. It may be that guys who used to throw 94 push to 96 more. Guys who used to throw pitch 130 at 88 are throwing pitch 105 at 92 now. And then they throw that hard slider/cutter on top of it.
  10. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 06:42 PM) I dont condone it nor do I care that it happens, but it happens and thats that. Prison is a whole new world for the sick and twisted, not a world I want to be involved with in anyway (unless of course my buddy gets me in as a prison guard like he's been trying to do.) That is condoning it. And that sick and twisted world makes everyone into sick and twisted people who go in, even for the majority of people who go in for things like drugs.
  11. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) it's likely that the video is merely being used as an excuse to riot and kill people. i doubt the video is the real cause of any of this. unfortunately, this is something Obama doesn't seem to be capable of comprehending. the good thing is that all these riots may finally end the billions of dollars we send overseas to these loons. 1. The President understands this fine. That's why he hasn't said anything of substance to promote the film. 2. Nothing will end the billions that goes to Pakistan.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 08:18 PM) Ozzie said he isn't worried about his job. Never did,not with a 3 year contract, not with a 1 year contract. Apparently he has totally erased last year from his small mind. Ozzie got a $10 million bonus after last year. If he can get fired, then he can draw an extra 6-figures doing broadcasting for the next year or two.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 04:57 PM) Ugh. And I do agree with greg. There is momentum in baseball. They have it and we don't. The old saying in baseball is that your momentum is the next day's starting pitcher.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 03:24 AM) If this is true, it makes me sick. Holmes is being treated well in prison http://kdvr.com/2012/09/20/exclusive-forme...h-james-holmes/ Of course he's getting excellent treatment. If anything happens to him for the next 10 years, it could cost the prosecution their chance at the death penalty. One guard lays a finger on him inappropriately, and that's it, the prosecution has their chance at a death penalty case made 20x harder. One thing you should be happy about...if he's coherent in prison...that's admissible as evidence of sanity.
  15. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 12:20 PM) Here we go with the conspiracy theories. Wait...did he get you for once? Or...wait?
  16. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) Oh, and how many President's or candidates have released more than a year or two of tax records, including Obama? Bet you can count those one one hand. You already know he is rich, what are you looking for? He also released his taxes for the last 10 years or something like that. Why is that not good enough for you. Anything to keep the focus away from jobs and economy. Here's the real problem. Tell me how this is inaccurate: The guy who set the multiple year standard...back in 1968...George Romney. ANd he's right. I mean, Mitt could easily have paid 9-11% last year if he hadn't been running for President for Pete's sake. Its hard enough to rewrite a standard of disclosure. Rewriting a standard written by your father?
  17. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 04:19 PM) College grades are considered highly private, it would be disconcerting if those could just "appear" without being given out. My main question is what is the precedent for this? Do presidents/candidates normally release their college transcripts? We know he graduated from undergrad and got a JD. You can't get into law school without pretty damn good undergrad grades, and then in professional school grades change entirely (well, in graduate school they do...I confess I don't know as much about law school). At least in recent times the Ivy League schools don't give merit scholarships to undergraduates but it is possible that the President received a great deal of need based aid. There are currently a lot of sources of funding for a minority student as well, I suppose they may have been available at that time as well. Of course, you'd have to take his word about these things since those things are kept very private and I'd imagine the records of his finances wouldn't stick around for long. You can certainly get a feel about much of his education just based on his graduation and admission from the respective schools. He doesn't appear to have been a drop-out biology major. One of George W.'s Yale transcripts was published by who knows who and how they got it sometime around 2004. I believe he got a B- in Geology, IIRC.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 03:10 AM) He definitely seems to be getting worse with every start. Overused arm? U think there's any way the Cubs sign him? Doesn't Theo need a complete overhaul and Cubs have money? Yes, there is a decent chance the Cubs sign him.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 04:47 PM) This. I'm getting tired of going to bed with a knot in my stomach. Tum tu tum tum tums...
  20. QUOTE (SI1020 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 12:11 PM) Why are today's MLB pitchers so fragile? Nobody has even come close to giving me a satisfying answer. Everybody in the sporting world everywhere seems bigger, stronger, and faster than those in the past. Advances in training and nutrition are stunning compared to what we thought we knew when I as a kid. So why is 200 IP such a staggering load? How did pitchers in the past string together consecutive years of 300+ IP and come back for more? Inquiring minds want to know. All that being said SS2K5 does have a point about Jake. He may be hitting the wall. In addition to of course not in any way being a big game kind of guy. Another big thing going on these days is that the pitchers are simply pushing harder. More velocity, sharper break on their sliders, more strikeouts, more movement on their cutters, and on and on.
  21. Or the apocalypse could start and all of MLB could be drafted into the antichrist's army.
  22. Cannot believe they'd eat $9 million on a manager.
  23. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 05:37 PM) maybe i went to a snobby school or something, but PB&J was like a scrub lunch. everyone got the school hot lunch. there was like tacos and stuff. Can you imagine how pissed the kids would be if they had to eat celery without peanut butter? They might murder the kid responsible. Using peanut butter.
  24. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 05:07 PM) I would actually. Because i'm going to teach my son that he's not the center of the world and just because he wants something doesn't mean he (1) is owed anything and (2) can just complain and get what he wants. As long as no one tries to take his peanut butter snacks away from him. Then he clearly can complain and get what he wants. Because he's entitled to be able to eat those in school by god-given rights!
  25. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 04:57 PM) nobody gives a s***. Seriously, some of us actually do, now stop.
