  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 04:33 PM) I have no problem with them skipping Sale today, as long as he also skips the exhibition game on Tuesday. I understand he's going to be throwing anyway, but not at that level. If you're going to rest him, rest him. I guess all the talk that the name of the front of the jersey is more important than the name on the back doesn't apply in this case. I'm just wondering why. Because it's throwing 1 inning or so?
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 04:26 PM) You could have had him pitch today and then go Sunday in KC And then lost the game the next week when you gave him that start off.
  3. QUOTE (Knoxville Sox @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 04:25 PM) Wow...I thought I was the only one around town here that pulled for our beloved Sox. Everyone seems to ride the Braves bandwagon. Nope.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 04:24 PM) But allowing him to pitch in the ASG makes sense? 1-2 innings over 8-10 days? Yes.
  5. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 04:07 PM) Potential for another Jackson/Hudson redux. ? Who would the Sox be giving up anywhere as good as Hudson?
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 04:19 PM) 10 run in the 6th...good idea not to start the 2nd best pitcher in all of baseball this year Yes...because this game is absolutely vital, there's no benefit to extra rest, and Tommy John surgery isn't a big deal.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 04:04 PM) But he's only had 198 MLB at bats! I'd still expect him to perform better if given a full time shot...but there's no way that would happen on this team.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 03:57 PM) I can't see them giving up though, regardless of whether they should or not. Mark Buehrle's contract was written so that they could give up if they had to.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 03:22 PM) Anibal Sanchez, it would seem? I can't see Marlins trading away anyone yet. But with Stanton out...they're very likely to be trading people by the end of July unless someone makes up for his bat. They're already the 3rd worst offense in the NL, and now they've lost their only hitter with an OPS over .800 for the next 5-6 weeks.
  10. Rios had to swing at that third pitch after the first two.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 03:14 PM) Yeah, he's definitely not a likely option at this time. I'd be absolutely stunned if they don't give Humber another try, and I also think we'll see Axelrod get a start after the ASB as well. If Axelrod can keep an ERA around 5 that still puts him as a reasonable 5th starter. Considering he's the 7th starter, that's noteworthy.
  12. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) Call up Simon Castro after the all star break, should be off the DL and at least his time in majors could be useful down the road or make a trade. A team looking to make the playoffs can't have the crap that those 2 are going to give us... We still have no idea why Castro is on the DL in the first place....and he could really benefit from some time to get comfortable in AAA, considering he got there last year and got beaten up.
  13. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 02:02 PM) It's hot? Airplane gets stuck in melting runway at Reagan National airport.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 02:52 PM) Nice start, swing the bat FlowersI blame you.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 02:36 PM) Balta, what do you think about putting Rios into the 3rd spot? It'd be nice if the 3 hitter had more than 14 walks in the first half, but heck, right now getting him more at bats seems like a positive. Can he keep this up though?
  16. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) He's probably got three more innings, if that. He'd probably h ave that if he was throwing a shutout.
  17. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 02:21 PM) Yup I agree he has no business being on this team, but I'm really not a fan of giving up games like this one and the Stewart Cubs one... If we're going to be competitive with Chris Sale as a key starting pitcher, giving up a game is going to be unavoidable. It's just another hangover from being "all in" and putting him in the bullpen last year.
