  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 08:23 PM) I've always been a fan, but I think that's cause he's killed the Sox in his career. I am a pretty big advocate of not trusting pitchers from San Fran and San Diego Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain is my response to that?
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 07:58 PM) I called that from day one. If you can't control your stuff, it doesn't matter how good it is. Did you call Melky Cabrera turning into an MVP candidate?
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 08:18 PM) AJ is a man. I believe AJ's daughter is also named...AJ.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 08:16 PM) Beautiful play by AJ! So much love for Youkilis that it steals posts from the Game Thread!
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 07:00 PM) Remember when some people were like "Yo, we should trade for Josh Fields. Tearing it up with the Isotopes, totes" that was funny Go Springfield!
  6. That's one of those De Aza would have if he played a bit shallower.
  7. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 05:15 PM) Yeah I don't see a reason to make anymore trades involving this team unless the injuries to Danks/Crain are more serious than once thought. Right now the kids are getting it done in the bullpen and besides the top tier guys who aren't for trade I don't think anyone we could acquire would be surefire upgrade. A better hitting backup catcher would at least be useful if one were available.
  8. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 04:27 PM) He has too much interest from other teams. He'll get more than the MLE. Unless he wants to take a Chicago discount, but i'm not sure why he would. I can't believe Kirk Hinrich is getting $5 mil a year from some team
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 04:32 PM) It was a stupid comment with the expected reaction. Someone clicked on an article about "offensive chris rock July 4 tweet" and was surprised by a controversial comment?
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 04:14 PM) You guys don't work at companies where there is some clueless f*** who DOES NOTHING? The highest of the higher ups on site at our company (not the owner, the highest of the everyday work people) does nothing but send out emails all day and sit there like some king honcho. It seems to me all companies in America have such an "organizer." Ozzie lets his assistant coaches coach apparently. He runs the show. Wait, so Ozzie Guillen is a clueless f*** who does nothing and is the "organizer"?
  11. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 04:04 PM) That's not remotely correct. If they got rid of those guys, the Bulls might be able to get under the luxury tax line, which would save them quite a bit of money now and in the future. For them to have any more than the MLE (about $5 mil, probably not going to get far enough under to use it) or mini-MLE (about $3 mil), they'd have to get rid of basically every player not named Rose, Noah or possibly Deng depending on how much money you want. The one thing the Bulls can do is use Hamilton, Brewer, Korver, and CJ as "expiring contracts" to take on an expensive or bad or long term deal in a trade...but I'm not sure that's even enough to match Joe Johnson. Which means the Bulls would also have to give up something useful if they want to trade for someone.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 03:37 PM) I agree. Ozzie pushes the correct buttons just about every time.He handled it like no one else could, and Bell just took off from there. He's a genius. If Loria, his son in law and the GM can keep their own egos in check and just let Ozzie be Ozzie, there is no reason to believe the Marlins won't have the biggest collection of Championship trophies in baseball except for the Yankees in the next 10 years. Sox fans really don't know what they are missing right now, what with the winning and the lack of off field controversey. Marlins fans are in for a treat. Ozzie will be a HOFer one day. It's not fair to evaluate Ozzie based on whether or not the players respond well and perform after dealing with him.
  13. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) I'm afraid he's going to be very expensive after this year, but not likely at all to repeat these numbers. At 35, this smells of the kind of situation where it's really hard to let the guy walk, but might be easily the right decision. I like him, would love to keep him, but not for 3/36 or anything. AJ got 2/$8 million as a 34 year old free agent catcher. He's having a great year this year, but a 36 year old free agent catcher isn't likely to outearn a 34 year old free agent catcher.
  14. That's why Congress stepped up and passed the President's Jobs bill last year.
  15. QUOTE (Carter224 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 10:36 AM) What? And is anyone else disappointed that there is no mention of the Joker or what happened previously? Such a great movie to just wipe clean for the finale. At least I have heard there wont be any mention. Clearly they have to play off of it if Batman has retired and disappeared for a decade.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 10:33 AM) Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan Alex Rios has more hits, runs, RBI, 2Bs, 3Bs, SBs and 3 fewer HRs than Paul Konerko and no one has squawked 'All-Star snub.' Rios included. Paul Konerko has the highest OPS of any 1b in the American league and a higher OPS than Rios by nearly 100 points. Rios has the 9th highest OPS in the AL among qualified outfielders.
  17. Marlins behind the scenes on Grantland.
  18. Pittsburgh Pirates are 10 games over .500. Best mark since '92.
  19. The US Olympic Swimming team is training in Knoxville the next couple weeks.
  20. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 12:31 AM) Is it me or has Rios changed his batting stance. He looks so much better at the plate. From last year, yes. His hands have moved around again...but I always think the real power for him comes from the legs. Can't tell that well from where most of the center field cameras, but I think last year he was very balanced at the plate and barely was shifting his weight at all, while this year you can see that his left foot is very light before he strides, there's almost no weight on it, so he's shifting weight from back to front when he swings and that's generating a much more powerful swing.
  21. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 06:36 PM) I do as well, but young guys tend to tire out sooner than vets because of the long schedule. Especially if the Sox make the playoffs. Regardless of who's coaching them or their makeup...I'd worry just as much about them cracking under playoff strain. Leyson Septimo had some great looking stuff, but I'm not sure I want him coming in to face Josh Hamilton in the 6th inning of a 1-1 game with the bases loaded in mid-October just yet.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 08:00 PM) Rockets could conceivable be paying Lin and Asik 25 million dollars in three years. Good luck with that. Conceivable?
