QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 02:21 PM) They should have just brought up Castro or something No need to burn a minor league option on him. Oh, and I think he's on the DL. -

QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) I don't have a problem skipping Sale in order to save him innings. But this should have been a bullpen day, end of story. Isn't starting Axe on short rest = a bullpen day? Especially when the bullpen already has 6 other rookies? -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) Please let this be it for Axelrod in the rotation this year (but I'm sure they'll blame it on the short rest) Yeah, it would be nice if our 7th starter wasn't needed, so I agree, please let this be it for Axe in the rotation. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 02:11 PM) Rajai Davis, MIA Don't know that I've ever seen that before. -
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) Am I the only one who would prefer to have sale or tank over upton? Sale, perhaps. Viciedo? No. I'd take Upton immediately.
-
QUOTE (MAX @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 12:54 PM) I think Dayan is going to have a huge second half and losing him for a starting pitcher would be a mixed blessing at best this season, and extremely short sighted beyond that. I'd agree with this...but if we're interested in going after a top flight starter, he's the best chip the team has.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) I don't think you'd need to give them either of Reed or Jones. Give them Viciedo and another decent prospect and it would be done. Outside of the guys in the bullpen, I'm not sure the Sox have "another decent prospect".
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 02:25 AM) throwing the idea of trading Sale out there makes me puke. If there's a thread about trading for Justin Upton, he's the only guy on our roster who could bring him back.
-
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 11:27 AM) We don't have enough to land a guy like Roy Halladay or Felix Hernandez but I think the Sox could figure out a way to get guys like Hamels/Greinke. I don't even think the Wsox even need a SP that good, could look at guys who are due off the DL soon in B-Mac/Dempster or someone like Volquez/Wandy Rodriguez Viciedo and one of those bullpen pieces like Reed or Jones might give you a legit chance at Hamels/Greinke.
-
If he could get back the form/health he had 2 years ago then that's a real cheap salary for his performance level.
-
In case anyone didn't see, Giancarlo Stanton will have his knee scoped, will be out 4-6 weeks. That's particularly bad for the Marlins. Stanton is the only guy on that team with an OPS over .800 on the year.
-
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 09:32 PM) but they got bailed out by a spendy owner. And it also helped when they got the #2 pick and Justin Verlander wound up in their hands. Good work San Diego!
-
I don't know what the heck is going on with him this year...but as Viciedo's big defender...LOL, of course I'd give him up for Justin Upton, and the Diamondbacks would of course laugh when offered. Sale + Viciedo + Reed for Upton would probably be their reply.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 09:24 PM) You'd have to think about it...hell, give them Gavin to make it seem better and see if you can squeeze any money out of them EDIT: It still blows my mind that teams do that stupid backloading. Why won't one team just frontload a contract so the player is likely to get paid a fair rate based on his age. The Marlins do that so that they can make a 1-2 year run and then try to trade the player/let him go on waivers. It's exactly what they did with Delgado.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 09:12 PM) You think? 2012: $6 million 2013: $11 million 2014: $18 million 2015: $19 million. Yeah, you don't have to give up a single player if you want him back. The Marlins would happily give him up unless they're in first place.

QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 08:01 PM) Starting last Thursday in NY, despite dropping a couple over last weekend, having a really hard time thinking of a more impressive week of White Sox baseball -- what a great way to head into the break ... ONE MORE TOMORROW BOYS! Youk = the new Crede??? Just sayin............... STOP TRYING TO JINX HIS BACK PEOPLE AUGH! -
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 08:50 PM) Man I wish! The Marlins would probably let you claim him on waivers for nothing.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 07:59 PM) The problem is, as soon as guys get good, they leave. KC is in the same death spiral that Oakland is in. How did the Rays get out of it? Or Pittsburgh?
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 07:45 PM) But if there's a foreign attack on our soil or some evil leader in some other country doing something stupid ... oh we'll have a consensus there. That's one thing that will bring Americans together. Stopping the evil assholes in other countrys. Well ... fine. But we need to fix problems here. Of course...what happened the last time that happened? The end result of this wonderful unity wound up being the U.S. marching into Iraq with only dirty hippies bothering to ask questions or say "hey maybe this isn't the best idea"...and it wound up as one of the dumbest, worst decisions this country ever made.
