  1. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 08:44 AM) Viciedo doesn't have as many cheap years as Lee did. Why?
  2. Well, I'm not at all surprised by the reactions, but I will say again that Lovie Smith's job is literally now on the back of a kid from Boise State (and another from West Texas A&M also). So if those 2 can't cut it immediately, then Emery gets to pick his coach and system.
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 01:14 AM) Big break for the Bulls. Not that they couldn't beat the Knicks. But they (Knicks) are 17-6 since Mike Woodson took over. Carmelo Anthony is playing some of the best basketball of his career (29.8 PPG in April), Tyson Chandler is a leading DPOY candidate, and they have the perimeter shooting that if they get hot, Smith and Novak in particular, that can give you a ton of problems. Getting the Sixers (their leading scorer is their 6th man) is the equivalent of a first round bye in the NFL. I'll be shocked if the Bulls don't sweep. The Sixers gave the Bulls at least one pounding earlier this year that I recall, although I don't remember if Rose played or not. But yes, the Bulls need to pound this team and put them away at the very worst in 5 so that they can get a couple extra days off before the Boston rematch.
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 01:02 AM) But neither one of them were bust in the traditional sense. They both had injuries/diseases that hindered their progress. It was more unlucky than bad picks. People were still happy to label them bad picks and be furious that we missed out on Trout and took Mitchell.
  5. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 11:36 PM) The good news, he'll only miss around 10 or 11 starts and he'll be eligible for reinstatement just after the beginning of the second half. There's no good news when a guy gets caught juicing, because now who knows how much of his performance was from the juice. He might come back and you don't want him back.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 03:05 AM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/attendance Can baseball survive in Cleveland? A baseball team right now can sustain probably >$50 million in payroll based solely on revenue sharing dollars. So the answer is yes, and stop asking. Also, please make more of an effort to include a hyperlink if you're going to excerpt an entire article like you just did, and preferably stop excerpting entire articles and just take readable selections, as technically it is a violation of copyright law, you're just counting on the copyright owner to not enforce those standards.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 07:15 AM) I have to wonder if it is difficult for Hector to get all of his pitches together in the span of a short bullpen warmup/one inning on the mound. Think kind of like some sinkerballers, whose toughest inning is the first because it takes a while to get the feel of the sinker and what not. I swear his screwball looks like s*** and it used to look better -- I just wonder if he hasn't/can't make the adjustment to the realities of being a bullpen pitcher. He obviously only has a handful of appearances left to figure it out, but I have to wonder. I guess the other possibility is that the reason no one throws a screwball is that it winds up being too hittable of a pitch, maybe outside of Arizona or something like that.
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 07:11 AM) I like Manto and most of Viciedo's problems involve approach so I'm not too worried. He may have this or that hole in his swing, but everyone has the "can't hit pitches above your shoulders hole" so I'd like to see him quit swinging at high fastballs, for instance, and we'll see how bad those holes look as his pitch selection improves. If you watched his minor league numbers, he also clearly became a more patient hitter with time, which is exactly what I'd expect to see from this kid in the majors as well. He's again gearing up to face a new level of pitching, so learning how to take a pitcher's pitch or foul it off is going to take him some time.
  9. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) Bears way overestimated their offensive upgrades this offseason. Horrible pick, its not like we ever draft s*** in the 1st round anyways but I thought it'd be different with Emery. Pretty let down, f***ing Bears. Is this a guy they could have moved down 5 slots and still gotten?
  10. Listed as a 3-4 OLB, DE transition I guess?
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 09:57 PM) Shea McClellin - DE - Boise S is the pick. Heard nothing about him going in.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) Keep it up Glad you liked
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) It's so painful watching our young guys hit. Ventura has got to find a way to get Lilly in the lineup and not let Morel and Beckham bat consecutively. No.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) Hawk really overdoes it with his emphasis on thought process holding hitters back. Some people are talented, some aren't. There have been some Grade A empty-headed individuals with .380 OBP. The "mental midget" complaint is at best overused, at worst a fabrication. Talk to Gordon Beckham about that.
  15. Really, bills went for te secondary. That's a pretty deep defense now, but passing on Floyd surprises me.
  16. Ump is really giving Doubront the outside corner.
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 08:35 PM) Dallas taking Claiborne then? They definitely needed secondary help, badly.
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 08:33 PM) Cowboys get pick 6... what?? Rams couldn't get Blackmon so they dropped back.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 08:30 PM) How many years do you want to him to repeat AAA? And what the f*** does April have to do with his ability to have good at bats? If you're expecting him to come up and contribute immediately in put up or shut up mode, then AAA until he was actually ready would be the rule. And you're just pretending if you didn't expect him to get off to a bad start. I did.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 08:29 PM) I'm not seeing any evidence of that this year. Because its April and es not in Charlotte because the team is in rebuilding mode.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 08:26 PM) But he's 23 now and hasn't made significant progress since then. Except for getting better with the bats every year. That all important walk rate was improving every year too. And then one injury setback to boot.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 08:20 PM) Well those are your expectations. I have mine. If you can find the list of guys that have bounced back and forth between AAA and the MLB for 3-5 years, regardless of age, and went on to be all-star caliber players, I doubt it's very long... The list of 19-20 year olds in AA isn't that long either. Hell, the list of guys who got to the bigs at 21 is even shorter, and I'd bet a lot of te bounced back and forth.
