QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 07:48 PM) This is just horrible for Rose. I feel terrible for him. This also means he will not be participating in the London Olympics, FWIW.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 07:50 PM) How many bats have gone down the 3B line this series? Is Shoppach playing again?
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 07:08 PM) How are the Sox going to compete next year, but not in 2012? I don't understand the reasoning. Viciedo's not a rookie, they clear Peavy's contract and AJ's contract, Molina could be ready to contribute, the 4 rookies in the current bullpen are 2nd year players.

QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 06:56 PM) At 2:52 am this morning someone rang my doorbell. I was faced with the choice of turning off my security system and answering it or not. I know I felt better knowing if it was someone wanting to harm my family that help was closer than a phone call to the police. And I assume you were at the time driving around the city hunting down vagrants? Otherwise this statement doesn't apply to anything in this thread.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 07:43 PM) So depressing. This was the team. I wonder if they will ever have this window again? How much of the bench mob do they lose this offseason? Asik and Taj, right?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 07:20 PM) I'm going to bet the s*** out of the Bulls against the Celtics...Its not the colossal loss that most fans think...obviously they're better off with him, I just don't think they're nearly as bad off w/o him as the betting public will think... Be honest though...which team has a better chance against the Heat, the Bulls with CJ at the point or a "healthy" Celtics tema if they get there? I'd rather have the Celtics get the Heat, so that someone has a shot at beating them.
-
QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 06:40 PM) Nah this team has too much heart. Best case scenario they'll make it back to the ECF to get beat by the Heat again. That's not best case scenario. Best case scenario is the Celtics have one more run in them and they can take the Heat out after te Pacers knock Wade out for the year.

Good luck against those refs, Boston.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 06:27 PM) I'm guessing that is a fake account Looks official to me

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) LF'ers are like setup guys you don't develop them as much as you find them. Can the guy hit, yes, put him in LF. Viciedo is not a perennial All-Star in the making in my view so giving him a year or two to develop isn't something a big market team should do. If Kenny Williams didn't have the patience to go with Dan Hudson, no way he should have it with Viciedo. "We made a horrible, indefensible, foolish mistake with Dan Hudson. We should repeat that mistake."

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 01:23 PM) Anytime Noah wants to stay on Brand that would be cool. I think he just wanted to make sure Brand was ready to get out of the way on that thing.

Rose isn't quite there yet, but this is an incredibly crisp early offense in the half court for the Bulls.
-
I'm not used to this good of a start by the Bulls. It's making me nervous.
-
Both Rose and Deng looked like Rose and Deng on the drive.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 12:10 PM) just remember also, jeffery is going to consistently face the oppositions 2nd best CB with Marhsall drawing the top guy. Not sure how many teams are going to be able to stack the box against the run like they used to anymore also And that leaves Bennett, Hester, and maybe Davis/Forte out there as well.

And some more actual numbers. In 2011, the Sox were 15th in MLB in terms of "Total chances for LF to field the ball". In 2010 they were 10th, in 2009 they were 20th. The Cell is almost exactly an average park over the last 3 years in terms of chances for the LF. It's no where near the bottom of the league, like you're insinuating it is. And this number is effective in seeing how a ballpark plays. The Philleis play in a hitters park, and their LF has been at the bottom of the league in chances over the past 3 years quite consistently, for example.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 11:44 AM) B, you think its smart to look at defense in a LF'er when you play 81 games at US Cellular Field? Better yet, what does your WAR say about it. For a reasonable comparison, for about 2 years, Carlos Quentin was terrible in RF, in no small part because of his injuries. Replacing him with a guy who can catch the ball was a substantial upgrade. Everyone who watched more tahn a couple Sox games over those years saw how much of a weakness it was having Quentin fielding in RF. Dunn was that bad 8 years ago.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 11:50 AM) That's not the same computer you got the Vlad Guerrero upside from for Viciedo is it? Yes, and that's still his upside, and I'm really holding back from stooping to your level of pathetic insults in reply here.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 11:44 AM) And what was the end result of that? An 88-74 record?

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 11:44 AM) B, you think its smart to look at defense in a LF'er when you play 81 games at US Cellular Field? Better yet, what does your WAR say about it. That Adam Dunn was one of the worst fielders in the last decade and belongs no where other than DH.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) It's wrong to look for defense in LF at US Cellular. It actually won games for Juan Pierre in 2010.
-
Wait, he's talking about Dunn playing LF? WTF, really?
-
QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 10:09 AM) I doubt that made your local newspapers. Zimmerman, shot and killed an unarmed man and it was national, even international news. Why? The difference between a cop killing a kid and a private citizen. Because in one case, the police did everything possible to let the killer get away.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 08:22 AM) http://www.suntimes.com/sports/12181010-41...els-mining.html Speculation about Cole Hamels signing with the Cubs as a FA... They clear Dempster's contract next year, but not a whole lot else. Lotta arb/option year guys still.

Game Thread 4/27: Sawks @ Sox, 7:10pm, The U

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 10:01 PM) Absolutely, Greg is right. But, this seems to be Danks' routine now. The problem is, this year, Danks has been bad in a lot of innings, not just the 6th (although today will pile on). ERA by inning: 4.5 0 6.75 6.75 4.5 9.82 You can't pull your starter in the 2nd. He's just been bad this year. Not much else to say. He'll snap into one of those multi game grooves at some point.
