  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 14, 2012 -> 12:24 AM) Santorum really needs to deliver a more detailed economic plan that caters more towards the middle class and also fill in the gap on energy policy/gas prices, where Newt has been trying to make headway in the south over the last 7-10 days. Very good Friedman/NY Times article on the future of capitalism in the US and world... http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/14/opinion/...on-2012.html?hp Point 1. No he doesn't. He's gotten this far without one, why put together specifics that people can attack? Mitt Romney's economic plan doesn't have enough specifics that its impact on tax revenues/deficits can be evaluated, why should Santorum do m ore than that? Secondly, it's nice to see Tom Freidman continue to write articles that could come verbatim out of President Obama's state of the Union Addresses while pretending that somehow he's this wise centrist and both parties would oppose him on them. And to write that article without indicating anything about which party thinks that 1 dollar of tax increases for $4 in deficit reduction is socialism, or which party thinks that infrastructure spending is socialism.
  2. Hell, if Rose is out, just rest Deng another day.
  3. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 14, 2012 -> 12:15 AM) Please tell me you're not still clinging to the belief that Anderson would've been something, anything, had the Sox only given him the chance. Rob Mackowiak has suffered enough of your hatred. Thankfully we've never had anyone else looking over their shoulder at the 45 year old behind him who keeps getting playing time every time the kid does something good to help win a game.
  4. Oh, and after Puerto Rico...Illinois got next.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) This may be way out there, but Im wondering if Gingrich made a deal with Romney to stay in and Romney will make him VP. Otherwise this strategy is just nuts, because Santorum and Gingrich are killing each other. As for the money, the rich give to both Republican and Democrats. If you support both sides, you cant lose, that really is where the smart money is. Actually, both staying in might be the best path here...if the other gets out, that could make things easier for Mitt. Right now a floor fight is an entirely plausible outcome if all 3 stay in, and no one knows what that would do. Santorum and Gingrich don't have a good chance at catching Mitt even if the other gets out.
  6. little Ricky has won Alabama solidly and has a solid lead in MS, with rMoney in third there. This is a bad night for Mitt. He needs 47% if the remainig delegates to clinch and is under 30% in both states.
  7. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 08:15 PM) I hope not . The Sox really need him to be good. He'll start off slow in April and then the Sox will start regularly benching him/platooning him, and then it won't take long before his preparedness suffers and his struggles get extended. It's the White Sox way.
  8. If the Bears hadn't gotten a better WR I wouldn't have been mad about that contract at all.
  9. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 05:36 PM) the only one I'm concerned about is Tank. Even if Rivers is s*** (again) we know that Fuk is an option in RF. But Tank needs to show some bat. I believe Danks will come around, as will Peavy. One thing about JFP is that he's still a crafty guy on the mound and he can figure a way to get guys out, even if he's not a cy young pitcher anymore. The real problem of course is that if Tank doesn't come out fast, they are going to be tempted to bench him...and that's of course, the successful way we developed such bats as Brian Anderson.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 04:33 PM) I really love the duo of Marshall/Bennett in theory. I'd still use a 1st or 2nd to take a WR. Clearly they still need another body at that spot, but now they can hesitate to see where other pieces fall. If they happen to miss out on Williams, then they can use some of their remaining cap to go after someone like Meachem or Manningham.
  11. QUOTE (zenryan @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 04:22 PM) Good trade for both the Bears and Phins. Bears finally get a WR threat for Cutler. Dolphins clear space for Manning and Wayne. And if Miami doesnt get Manning/Wayne then there is no reason to have Marshall around. Kinda like a last place team with a stud closer. Just get rid of him and get something in return because you arent going to be competing for a playoff spot. really hard to believe that Marshall's trade value was 2 third round picks if it weren't for the teams trying to clear Manningcap.
  12. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 04:18 PM) Buffalo?! They have a ton of cap room and they're legitimately desperate for a pass rush.
  13. QUOTE (G&T @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 03:59 PM) So I guess Peyton told them "No." QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) Yeah right. I doubt they even think about trading him before the Manning thing plays out. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) I just was saying that to one of my co-workers. Supposedly Marshall's cap hit is somewhere in the neighborhood of $11 million, and that could have been a serious issue while trying to sign Manning and any of his previous WR's.
  14. One of the thirds is apparently a 2013 3rd rounder, so the Bears still have 1 of their 2 third rounders this year as well.
  15. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 03:39 PM) Bears should be looking at Winston who was cut from Texans... on a side note.. anyone have any idea on why I can't stay logged in?? It drives me crazy trying to respond and I keep having to log in over and over b4 it finally lets me post.... Are you changing IP's somehow? Say by moving between different wireless networks/points? The response on Winston so far seems to have been that the Bears think Carimi is best fit at RT and want to keep him there. Could be a smokescreen obviously, but that's their current line.
  16. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) The issue isn't if the O-Line is good or not, it's the fact that the coaching staff is satisfied with Chris Williams-Garza-Louis-Carimi and Spencer/Edwin as backups. Like been said repeatedly the only questionable spot is Webb and Tice seems high on him. They still clearly need a backup tackle.
  17. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 03:24 PM) Did I just read a few pages of people defending the Bears' offensive line? I'm going to clean my eyes out and try to re-read the last few pages. The Bears had one of the bottom two offensive lines last year with Philly being the only team in their stratosphere of bad. Carimi looked good when healthy. Garza to me looks like a good backup C and a good RG, but he's nothing special. Williams looked good for a few games at G. I would not pencil him as a starter though. Simply put, the Bears need all the help they can get. Chris Williams looked solid to near pro-bowl as a starter then went down with a freak injury. Carimi never was healthy and barely played. Garza was solid at Center. Louis looked solid at RG, but then had to move to RT where he was terrible because the bears had no backup tackle other than the open door. On top of that, you've got a backup QB for the part of the year where the line looked really bad, and Martz's system which refused to provide help. This line already gets 2 first round picks added in to start next year. Louis and Garza don't deserve to be benched. THe only question is Webb. And he was on an island for 1/2 the season and never got help...and he only really looked bad when he had to block for Hanie and McCown.
  18. Have you guys actually watched the ads associated with the slogans? They work pretty well.
  19. The sad thing is, for most people, it's not the high-quality, big steaks that get them in trouble, it's the fast food.
  20. QUOTE (SmashROT @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 02:32 PM) It's terrible. Cowley has capitalized jumping all over it on Twitter. I hate to say it, but I'm prone to agree with him on this one. It says to me, "come out to the park and enjoy the game regardless of the product on the field." Not a winning attitude. Cowley is only jumping on it because of the implicit idea that the leader of last year's squad had given up appreciating the game and his position and was on to appreciating money and celebrity.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 01:52 PM) Apparently in that situation they would amnesty Bosh. Even if they were to amnesty Bosh, they cannot get far enough under the cap to even offer a respectable deal to Howard. If they drop Bosh completely, let eveyrone go, and fail to offer team options to people like Chalmers, they still have about $55 million in commitments for next year. They'd need the Magic to be willing to help them out.
