Gallup poll suggests that if Gingrich were to drop out of the race, it'd probably actually help Romney...Romney and Santorum effectively split his votes, and that pushes Mitt to a solid plurality.

Sun-Times: Trades Will Happen Soon if Sox Fail

QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Mar 16, 2012 -> 04:25 PM) Um, so what that they hired Epstein? And who said anything about "worshiping" them? Easy on the hyperbole there bro! It's the Cubs we're talking about after all... Yes, exactly. So what that they hired Theo Epstein? -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2012 -> 02:29 PM) Wow, a Presidential primary commercial in Indiana. You don't see that, like ever. I'd assume that's running on Chicago TV though?

QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Mar 16, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) Um, hiring Epstein & Co.? If you want to ding the Cubs for bad trades/acquisitions, that's rich territory although I think in that scenario we define living in a glass house. So what if they hired Epstein? Theo Epstein isn't going to play 1b for them. He made a small set of moves this offseason, spent an enormous amount of money on a pair of Cubans, and we're just supposed to pretend everything's groovy and worship. Bull. Prove it. This article...completely fails to do so. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 16, 2012 -> 01:11 PM) Id be fine with Abraham for a cheap 1-2 year deal, Wimbley is probably going to cost more. I think it'd be worth paying more for Wimbley.

Crasnick has a piece up on the Sox/Ventura spring training.

QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Mar 16, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) Why not praise the Cubs? That was a huge move. Just the kind of move we need IMO. Which one, the trading for prospects down on their luck a little from San Diego (check) or the paying the entire bill for a starting pitcher to go away? -
I agree, it is absolutely outrageous that an Afghan prison would order body cavity searches of females without cause other than entering the facilities. No civilized country would ever inflict that kind of treatment on its people. Wait...

Not a new figure but I haven't seen it before, and I liked it.

QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Mar 16, 2012 -> 10:48 AM) check out today's column. Really don't want to. Don't want to check out the last one either. -
Senator Lugar (R-IN) who is facing a tough primary challenge has been ruled ineligible to vote for his own re-election.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 16, 2012 -> 09:08 AM) It's not f***ing Obamacare. People that call it that, regardless of which of the two "team fails" they play for, are simply idiots. Oh, and by team fails, I mean Republicans or Democrats. Wait, you're the one complaining about us adopting the derisive shorthand?

Lotta random details in this one. Humber pitching with a bleeding thumb, Crain held out yesterday with a mild oblique strain but should pitch over the weekend, comments on the open bullpen spots.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) Dunn scratched again? Is he okay? QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 03:36 PM) I saw that he hit a homer yesterday. Hopefully he is. He was a late scratch with a sore neck.

QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 16, 2012 -> 01:38 AM) Damn near every move we make works well, I couldn't help but think that way this morning. Boozer is the main disappointment so far, but everyone had concerns about how he would fit in a Thibodeau defense. Those concerns continue -- occasionally he seems to be turning things around, other times he falls into old habits of passive defense. Rip hasn't been healthy in a shortened season and I won't blame the GM for that just yet, especially given the fact that Brewer has been phenomenal and Korver has far exceeded expectations this year as well. The biggest problem with Boozer is not that he's bad, it's that he's paid $15 million. If he were an $8 million player, no one would really mind the Bulls having him.

QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Mar 16, 2012 -> 12:04 AM) Spring training means nothing. I remember one season the Raiders (my favorite football team) went 4-0 in the preseason, Art Shell's first season back as head coach. It got everyone excited, we were going to be the raiders of old, kicking ass and taking names, they went on to go 2-14 that year and played like a high school team. Since then I just can't give a damn about anything that happens before the season starts in any sport. The couple HR for Adam Dunn hopefully are giving him a confidence boost.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 09:50 PM) Marquette is not a great job, Buzz was rumored to be a target for Oklahoma last year (I believe Weber was rumored about that). Id bet that Buzz would leave Marquette to be at Illinois, hed be a fool not to. I can think of worse things than hiring Marquettes coach.

The other thing that happened there is that the expansion with growing government spending was much stronger than the expansion without growing government spending. And this is not a coincidence.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 04:55 PM) There's no way I'd toss Noah for Gasol straight up, let alone toss in a player and two 1st round picks. The Lakers suck. However, we can be confident that people in Chicago will continue to blame the Bulls' GM for not getting a deal done for Gasol to help out the team this year.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 03:22 PM) They can afford him with those 3 big contracts? Yeah, I dunno, they spent most of their MLE last year already and they're in tax territory as well. Veterans minimum somehow perhaps?

QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 11:37 AM) 1) Why wasn't this the case last year? It was obvious early on that we had MAJOR problems so why did that whole season continue on? Oh, wait: probably because KW was engaged in a pin-the-loser-on-the-other guy pissing contest which Ozzie ultimately lost. But not after the season was long gone. Honestly, the reason why that might have been tolerable last year could be that they got a check back covering a portion of Peavy's contract, so that they didn't lose as much money (then saved more money by trading Jackson midyear). -
David Wright tore abdominal muscle, still hopes to be ready for opening day somehow.
