QUOTE (mr_genius @ Mar 25, 2012 -> 02:52 PM) Impossible to tell. But you know darn well you have the same gut reaction the rest of us do.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 25, 2012 -> 10:34 AM) For political reasons, not reality reasons. Obamacare, in it's original intent, looked nothing like what was eventually passed. So sure, they can own the name, which is just more political games for the cameras, but it means nothing. Calling it the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" didn't show up until right around the time the final bill was passed either.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Mar 25, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) Race has been brought up in every story I've seen so far. Would this kid have been dead if he was a white kid walking through a gated community at night with a pack of skittles?
-
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Mar 25, 2012 -> 12:32 PM) Would the president have commented if this was a white kid with a hoodie that got shot and killed? I think we all know the answer to that one. Would he have been asked? No.

26 year old, plays all 3 OF spots. Maybe a sign that the Sox are goign to carry an extra backup OF? D2?

QUOTE (joeynach @ Mar 25, 2012 -> 02:00 PM) With all the things manager is responsible for and isn't responsible for when it comes the outcome of games I only care about one thing. Team Record vs Pythagorean win-loss totals. Thats the only way IMO to actually say (or not say) hes is a good manager or a bad manager. Can he outperform his projected win total (based on RS and RA) with managerial tactics. Thats it. I dont care what he or media says, and I really dont care what he does game in and game out. I care about can he as the manager lead to more wins than statistically projected based on runs scored and runs allowed by his team. Did we underperform or overperform in 2011? That was some of the worst managing I've ever seen, and generally Ozzie's teams overperform.

With so much drama in the LBc it's kinda hard bein stealth L-i-double-L... (Pauses....thinks....yes, this is in fact so awful I have no choice but to post it).
-
Well, that was moderately entertaining.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 07:55 PM) Um, like, um...what does this mean? I'm guessing it's a Moises Alou thing.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 06:40 PM) 2 hits for Saladino. Birmingham may have some things to look forward to...Mitchell, Wilkins, Saladino...who else? Molina.

Does the Hunger Games play to the 99% or Tea Party?

Is it wrong that I have no idea what any of this is about? Is this a movie? -
Penn State Police informed that Sandusky was a "Likely pedophile" by the therapist of one of his victims in 1998.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 16, 2012 -> 09:43 AM) Yes. The "Obamacare" thing just a pet peeve of mine, feel free ignore me like you usually do. I just hate when people call it that...I know it makes no sense that it should annoy me as much as it does, but it does. I try to be fair, whether talking about GW, Obama, or whomever...and I think blaming or crediting Obama for anything in the ACA is ridiculous. The bill he asked for is nothing remotely close to what he got. It wasn't written by him, or for him. What he saw in it were some really good points that could fix some GLARING holes in the system, so he signed it. The rest of the crap that's still to come...who knows what it means, or even says...I tried reading it...it's all typical lawyer double talk. I'm sure we will start seeing an onslaught of crazy provider/patient/hospital lawsuits in the future, considering it's near impossible to write a bill/law that's 2000+ pages that isn't full of contradictions...and I'm sure some slimy lawyers will try to profit off of it. Obama campaign officially embraces "Obamacare" moniker for the law.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 01:36 PM) Maybe in Florida, not in the real world. If you follow someone with a gun and instigate a confrontation, generally you dont get to claim self defense. You cant create the fearful situation to take advantage of it. (at least in my opinion). The simple question is, if you had a reasonable fear of your life being ended, would you be following that person? The answer (imo) is no, you would not follow them. The general "self-defense" fact pattern usually involves the person who is being followed, trying to get away, being cornered etc, and then having no choice but to use deadly force. I have yet to see any fact to suggest that after Zimmerman called the police, that he couldnt have chosen to remain safely in his car and not escalate the situation. The guy was: 1. a neighborhood watch captain, and thus had every legal right to follow around and approach people who were deemed "Suspicious" by him in any way. 2. Licensed to carry a weapon 3. Legally allowed to use that weapon in any case where "Self-defense" could have become a reasonable response. 4. Was actually injured in the confrontation, thus making it quite clear he could take the shot in "Self defense" Everything he did is going to wind up being legal unless there's some way to prove it was a hate crime. This is what the state of Florida, and at least a dozen other states, want to be legal.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 04:23 PM) Obviously I highlighted too far and I really doubt you didn't get that from my response. Which is clearly why I was confused.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 04:17 PM) I said exactly that from day one. When I saw Corzine's testimony that all he said was "fix it", no one in the industry in their right mind would take that as "take customer segregated funds to cover the position". Fix it means divest the position. You said Corzine would skate around this pretty easily?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 03:46 PM) Irrelevant. If it is true that the CRO of JPM called them and point blank asked the CEO if the funds were from customer segregated funds, and even took the extra step of attempting to have him sign an attestation to that, they are easily in the clear. They did their due diligence and then some. Taking down Corzine for misrepresenting that fact will only help that out. Unless they wind up having to give back some fraction of the stolen funds by cooperating.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 03:37 PM) A very strong argument could be made for Bobby being Kenny's finest moment both in his beginning and his end. The Sox either needed to be much more emphatic on dealing with his personal issues or needed to cut ties with him sooner. He was a key part of the 2010 meltdown. Maybe the key part of it.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 03:41 PM) If they have a very high up at JPM testify that Corzine lied to them about the funds, he is done for. It is an easy slam dunk. It is the lying about insider trading type of stuff that people get convicted for. Unless JPM happens to have gotten a chunk of the $1.2 billion that was stolen from MF's customers.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 03:16 PM) You'd think someone would have picked him up as a back up. He could have made a few more millions I would think. Take way the boneheaded plays last year in the Broncos game and he wasn't all that bad. I'm sure if he wanted to keep playing he could have found a job, but honestly, he's spent a whole lot of time in rehab the last couple years. That can't be pleasant.
-
I really hope it wasn't Ozzie's family that knocked him off the wagon.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) Ryan Madson out for the season, needs the Tommy John. Sucks for him as he thought he had a 4-year deal, now he will be FA coming off surgery. Sean Marshall to close, Aroldis Chapman back to set-up role. Chapman is not in their rotation? So they spent $30 million on a guy who has been a reliever for 3 years?
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 01:19 PM) Didn't even realize Ryan Sweeney was now trying to make the Red Sox until I tuned into the game radio broadcast today. He was in that trade for Bailey earlier this year. Is he actually struggling to make the team? The BoSox seemed like they definitely could use him at least as a backup OF unless they signed someone else.

He'll still avoid charges.
