  1. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 08:24 PM) Would you rather have Oz making better choices or Dunn and Rios playing at 80% of their career averages? If oz had been making better choices then those 2 would have been platoon players by June and it wouldn't have mattered.
  2. The whole series of successive PIGS bailouts really has just been an effort to protect those big German and French banks anyway. At least someone is saying so. Interesting to see himsuggest that HFT is deserving of an investigation.
  3. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 07:33 PM) Weird hot north wind the past couple days. Usually, like 360 days a year it is hot from the southeast. When it flips north it is cold and rainy. Supposedly Lee whipped up those winds
  4. Decent start Zach. Want to see the ball on the ground more.
  5. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 08:18 PM) So fire Oz and this is a playoff team? I could absolutely see that having been the case.
  6. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 08:17 PM) You don't think players will start blaming the distractions of Oz as soon as he's gone? You don't think there will be comments about the clubhouse being in turmoil, etc? Or the fighting between Oz and KW and Walker? They will blame Oz for their terrible season. Of course, but no one is likely to be dumb enough to say it in the way you attempted to satirize. Of course everyone is going to rip Ozzie, and Ozzie is going to go off on the team for months too.
  7. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 08:14 PM) Well I have consistently stated that Ozzie is not why this team did not make the playoffs and you keep arguing with me. But he has certainly been "a" reason why. Just like you can say this team would be in the race if Dunn had 30 HR, I can say this team would be in the race if their manager hadn't gotten in the way.
  8. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 07:13 PM) I am, and agree he should be gone, but unlike a large number of people here, I don't believe that magically makes this a playoff team. Now you're just being insulting to the rest of us.
  9. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 07:31 PM) I'm sure the Red Sox would be happy to send Jenks back. That was a brilliant investment by Theo Epstein. I'd take him for rios.
  10. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 07:50 PM) I was thinking more along the lines of "I can't hit because of Oz" . . . Now that one is too over the top to even be laugh worthy tex.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 06:04 PM) Can play multiple positions, above average power, and a team-friendly contract through 2013. I could see a team like the Rangers being interested. The possibilities are endless when you have so many team-friendly contracts, strong system, and a s***load of money to spend. Even with arb raises due to Escobar and Morrow, their payroll still won't sniff $50 million. And any team interested can check his WAR and find him to be pretty ineffective.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 05:53 PM) You're talkin' 90-100 HRs from Bautista/Fielder. Spin Lind and a couple prospects from their loaded system for a SP/RP upgrade. Yes, they would be the favorite, IMO. Why exactly would anyone want Adam Lind?
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 05:30 PM) Offense would be devastating. And clearly they'd come out and destroy the Yankees, Red Sox, and Rangers? And with the extra pitching the Rays have coming up? If everyone developed they could be competitive. Handing the AL to them because of talent?
  14. Welcome Back Alexis Rios!
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 05:42 PM) Well Santos is the closer then, and hopefully he can handle it. You do need a closer even if your team is mediocre to s***ty. It's nice to have a closer with a heater like Sale. Seriously, WTF? Santos's fastball averaged 95.1 this year, Sale has averaged 94.8.
  16. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 05:26 PM) Any extreme is bad. And how nice you loaded you post with a heavily editorialized opinion. What you really are doing is setting up something everyone will agree with and adding the opinion you are trying to argue in the second part. This way it looks like someone is agreeing with your opinion regarding subservience with no good reason when in truth they are agreeing that extremes are bad. And comparing people who are tired of Ozzie's act and years of failure to Al Davis firing a couple coaches every year isn't a loaded, heavily editorialized opinion?
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 05:23 PM) You know it! But real talk. Brett Lawrie (and I see he just hit a walkoff HR) is worth the price of admission. Score one for the man in my avatar. Ricky Romero is just a notch below godlike lefties Kershaw/Price. Score another one for the man in my avatar for locking him up at a bargain rate through 2015. I expect Bautista to make another run at 50 HRs. And there's rumblings going around of the Blue Jays preparing to make a serious run at either Pujols or Fielder. I still don't think Pujols is going anywhere. But if they net Fielder? Sheeeetttt. It's game over for the AL. Nationals? Strasburg, Stephen. Enough said there. And Harper won't be in the minors long. And, of course, I love me some Ryan Zimmerman.
  18. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 05:13 PM) We would have had seven managers between 2000 and 2010. Three or four GMs, a complete change over in scouting. So, would you say that any extreme is bad? Such as, extreme loyalty and subservience to a manager with no good reason?
  19. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 05:12 PM) We have no way of knowing. For all I know JR demanded certain line ups (although I really doubt it). My point is the only accountability we can see is usually someone being fired. For all we know KW has been removed from player evaluations, Oz has been removed from decisions regarding minor league call ups. Who knows? Then it's absolutely ridiculous that either of them are still employed. Example; If Ozzie has no say over minor league callups, then the fact that it took this long to call up help is on KW, and clearly that was an awful set of mistakes. And if the manager can't be trusted dealing with minor league callups, then that manager doesn't belong anywhere near employment.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 04:56 PM) Tex, what accountability within the org do you think is happening They have to go out on the field and get booed.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 04:39 PM) If Sale has heat like that, he may need to be closer next year. God no.
  22. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 04:42 PM) There are two kinds of accountability, within the organization which we cannot see, and accountability we can see (firing people). What most people seem to mean when they hear accountability is fire everyone after a losing season. The Al Davis revolving door of people doesn't seem to work, but either does riding a dead horse. How many coaches would Al Davis fire if he had 1 playoff appearance in 6 years?
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 04:33 PM) Ozzie going with the matchups today. Serg didn't have s***. Will Sale have anything? Or walkoff coming? Beware first pitch walkoff bomb. Ha.
  24. Give him something fast and inside Chris.
