QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 05:26 PM) What a f***ing lame ass penalty. Peppers is a speeding bullet and lowered his shoulder to avoid hitting with his helmet. What else can he do? I'm fully supportive of the NFL suspending people for using their helmet as a weapon on tackles, but there really does need to be a payback. Some of these penalties need to be reviewable. The Pass Interference calls first, and some of these roughing penalties second.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 05:26 PM) The Giants have Smith and Manningham out for the season, don't they? Yea, just like the Packers have lost their running game and their TE. It sorta winds up being which player do you trust more with backups all over the place.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 05:25 PM) To me the teams are quite similar, so it comes down to Eli v. Rodgers. And there is no doubt about that. I'd say it comes down to Eli + the Giants running game vs. Rogers and the Packers passing game, and that one, I dunno.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 05:22 PM) I agree. You have an opportunity to take out a good team before the playoffs start, you do that. I would rather have the Giants in, versus the Packers. The packers have a better D and more offensive weapons. I dunno, I think the Giants have just about as many weapons (much much stronger running game) and a defense that certainly can hang with the packers, if that line plays together.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 05:19 PM) I think you really have to try and keep them from making the playoffs. As long as the game is close or we are winning, keep them in. Fine if you want to stay conservative, but keep trying to win. Anything that happens to GB here is a side-effect. As LF said, the Bears need the reps, and that ought to be priority #1.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) What does Lovie do for the second half? Bears clearly playing well enough to beat Packers. So does he let the starters leave with confidence or does he risk that let them try to win the game? Very interesting. Keep your foot on the gas.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 05:06 PM) Good lord, I don't know that I have ever read such a steaming pile of crap in this forum, and that is saying something. Good old mind tricks... Have you never sat in on a marketing meeting? I actually found it funny, as I was writing that post, there was a Ford commercial on, showing trucks going over rocks, all sorts of manly things...and their slogan "Built Tough". The double-sharp-T in the slogan to catch your ear. Exactly the same usage. Hollywood does this all the time too. People get the T sound or the end-K sound inserted in their name to add some edge to how it's pronounced.

I'm not sure how interested the Bears' offense is yet, but the Bears D opened this game playing like a unit that wanted to prove something.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) Meanwhile, any time that happens in this game we are gambling quite a bit ourselves. At least the Bears have 2 weeks. I still say they're better off getting the practice, even if they fail at stuff.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 04:42 PM) Well, he saw the writing on the wall pretty quickly there and went down. Wait a half second longer and GB has to go with Flynn even if they make the playoffs.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) I like this newly mobile Peyton. After GB failed to convert on 3rd, I changed the channel to the Colts game after reading this post. I then immediately thought "WTF am I doing, GB is punting!" and changed back.
