  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 11:10 AM) You mean because the Senate will reject such budgets? Because even the House would reject a Paul Ryan budget, but the House won't have the choice.
  2. This is going to be one of the mechanisms that drives the full shutdown of the government in Feb. The incoming House has adopted their budgetary-rules. Not only have they replaced "Paygo" with a much weaker "Cutgo"...they've given Rep. Ryan almost unilateral power to demand cuts in the total federal budget, and proposals by anyone that disagree with Rep. Ryan's decisions are declared out of order. Check the link for the full postmortem on the rules changes. Really, these rules make a shutdown inevitable unless the Obama administration caves on everything.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 09:24 AM) Balta, do you really think that the very ordinary and commonplace criticisms Bobby made really upset the White Sox organization enough that they would secretly be applauding this attack on Bobby's personal life? I know Kenny has gone after players publicly in the past before, but I sincerely hope that the Organization has more class than to be pleased with this outcome. I really do see your guys side on Oney. You're right, he's out of line for the public face of any organization. But I will still say that if I were in that locker room, or in that front office, I would be somewhere between less than really outraged and quietly content about this turn of events, based in no small part on the fact that Bobby's off the field issues affected his performance last year. Call it the "Scooter Libby" premise. Yeah, the guy may have broken the law, but he did so while smearing a guy going after his bosses.
  4. QUOTE (retro1983hat @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 08:38 AM) If your dad worked for let's say Motorola and was one of the high ranking, high profile officers. And you decided to do nothing but publicly criticize Motorola. Including telling secrets that were only known to those in the board room. Don't you think at some point, the CEO or someone would tell you to tell your kid to lay off. You've got to add some extra details there though. Let's say the secrets you leaked were to smear an ex-employee. And that Ex-employee had been going around bashing your company. In that case, the CEO might well be telling the guy to keep it up, as long as there's enough distance between him and the leak that he has plausible deniability.
  5. Let's all try some Roo. It's CH4 emissions are much lower than beef.
  6. How did Frank become a god?
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) If the Sox really cared that much about the off of the field stuff, Ozzie would have been fired along time ago. This isn't the first time, nor the biggest time. They also would have fired Kenny Williams a long time ago, if the off of the field drama bothered them that much.. The Sox will wash their hands of Guillen (and Williams for that matter) when he doesn't win games, unless some really crazy happens. No italics needed. The other side of it though...even the teams who bring in safe, normal, boring managers don't exactly have calm, cool, and collected seasons. I'll give you an example. Jerry Manuel. He's about as boring of a manger as you can find. His closer beat up his father in law or something like that, the whole team dismantled itself, etc.
  8. Frank has your car.
  9. Balta might change it back. He's hungry.
  10. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 05:24 PM) An honest assessment is that the Bulls have no chance against Miami or Boston (unless injuries deplete the Celtics). The Bulls aren't even as good as the Knicks right now, so it would a be a delusion of grandeur to think they could take a series from one of the top 3 teams in the East (one of which being possibly the most talented team to play in the NBA ever). Unless Bulls ownership is wiling to go into the tax and acquire an all-star level shooting guard, the Bulls look like they will be mired in the good but not elite category for the foreseeable future.... I think that by the end of the season...the Bulls might well be able to compete with all of them. The Bulls started off with the roughest opening month and a half schedule in the NBA and fought through it hard. They're getting better, and they haven't been 100% healthy on their 5 starters except for 1-2 games.
  11. Zero chance you've tried enough to comment.
  12. xanthochroic people are probably the tastiest.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 05:10 PM) This is a non-issue. There are no legal ramifications. They can fire Ozzie for whatever the hell they want. All they have to do is pay out the term of his contract. His contract goes thorugh 2012 right? Next offseason this might start weighing on people. They're nto paying 2 coaches for 2 years
  14. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) Uh, no. Very little reason for you to come to this thread if you don't like the taste of human.
  15. The Miami Heat are the first team in NBA history to go undefeated on the road in an entire month where they played at least 10 games on the road.
  16. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) It's a little easier when your recent schedule has been filled with a lot of non-playoff teams. 10 of their 15 December games came against teams that really shouldn't give them any trouble. Orlando, Boston and New York all shot comfortably over 50% in victories against them in December matchups. The Bulls did beat OKC and LA, but the Thunder have no big men and shot 35% in that game and LA really only has one good perimeter player. BUT...despite Rose regularly getting burned on the outside...and despite the Bulls playing without Carlos Boozer...the Bulls were still winning those tough games, on the road. They're getting better and better. They're not going to win a championship right now...but at the end of the season...I don't know where this team will be.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) Yeah, but he's been here his entire career, basically. That's a little different than someone who has no ties here and didn't win a championship here, with this manager. Like Adam Dunn and Jessie Crain.
  18. Should try eating an arm with a tattoo. All the ink makes it extra tender.
  19. Tyrus had one or two good games against Lebron as well. Tyrus Trading off with Deng was actually a fairly reasonable way to do it; you're throwing 2 different types of long, athletic guys against him. The Bulls are getting better and better at clamping down on the perimeter, and at least for the last month, we haven't had Rose being regularly exploited like he was in November.
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) Oney is gay. Calling someone that and thinking its an insult says more about you than about the person you're trying to insult.
  21. Quit trying that 12th herb and spice on them. 11 is fine.
  22. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 02:07 PM) I'm pretty sure that was Hinrich? Hinrich on James? That's as much of a mismatch as possible.
  23. Now you admit you're a carnivore...
