  2. Xena would help entertian you also
  3. Ok, that's a stat. Career 300+ yard passing games: Peyton Manning: 60 Brett Favre: 61 Dan Marino: 62.
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 06:45 PM) Of those 4, are PK and Putz the only two we are likely to offer arb to, with AJ being a maybe? Unless someone signs Manroid in the next week or so, correct.
  5. QUOTE (3E8 @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 06:41 PM) Putz is B. AJ/PK/Manny are As. If Putz is a type B FA and someone signed him, the White Sox would receive a sandwich pick.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 06:36 PM) 1.2 walks per 9 innings. 1 extra walk a start. So you are saying if Danks cuts 1 walk a start he can be an ace. That's fine. I personally don't think thats a crazy thing to accomplish. FWIW, 1.2 BB per 9 innings = .133333 walks/IP. Therefore, for Danks, dropping that 1.2 BB/9 IP would last year have brought his WHIP down from 1.22 to 1.08. That's a pretty decent improvement required there.
  7. A 2006 Congressional "Report" on global climate change, requested by Rep. Joe Barton (R-BP), who is likely to re-take the chair of the energy committee in the next House, appears to have been largely plagiarized. Out of the 91 pages in the report, some 35 contained significant amounts of plagiarized material. Also, of the 80 papers listed as citations, some 40 never are actually cited anywhere in the report.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 06:31 PM) Two subjects here. As for armed pilots versus armed masrhalls, the air marshalls go through months training, which follows years of background investigation and vetting. Pilots aren't in the same realm. Furthermore, its not a good use of them anyway. They are pilots, they need to fly the plane. Expecting them to act as marshalls as well is just an unworkable concept. Now about marshalls versus pilots being terrorists, first of all, I wasn't saying they have to be. What happens if someone blackmails a pilot? Its a lot easier to find a pilot and follow them home, than an air marshall. Further, even if you are talking terrorists, as I said, the background work is much deeper for air marshalls and it would be much harder to slip by. I think if we're looking at all the possibilities in the 2nd bit, there seems to be very little solution to those.
  9. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 06:25 PM) Dbacks interested in Putz. Does this mean if they sign him, we get no draft pick since they have a top 15 pick? No. The Sox would get a sandwich pick, and the D-Backs pick in the 2nd round (unless the D-Backs signed other type A Free agents). Assuming Putz is a type A FA (I don't know if that's confirmed yet). If Putz is a type A free agent, the Sox will add 2 draft picks, 1 sandwich pick and a compensation pick from the other team.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 06:18 PM) Like I said with to maggs, what makes you think we'd be able to get anything worth a damn for a mediocre pitcher (I'm hoping he dominates next year) who will be 2-3 months away from FA? I'd guess he at least has a shot at being a type B FA next year just off number of innings. Of course...if the Sox are out of contention, the odds are it's in part because he's struggling too.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 06:03 PM) I wonder if he texts pictures to Ozzie like Cowley does? Wait, did the Brett Favre discussion bleed into this thread?
  12. Just not the year for Manning and co in this game. The Patriots are just deeper.
  13. Very much a matter of semantics.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 06:20 PM) Not at all. Is a pilot an air marshall? If you set the training requirements highly enough then why not? And anyway...the reason I asked...you worried about a pilot being a terrorist...why can't an air marshall be one?
  15. Though, he did sorta listen to the Vikings who begged him to come back.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 05:53 PM) The most important thing is that he has contacts that the rest of us only dream about. Which is of course, the whole point. Doesn't matter how stupid the things he write are, they can't afford to replace him. He scratches people's backs.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 05:33 PM) Because they are convinced they know more than the average fan, the newspaper pays them and we read it. I just chose not to read it and thus do not have to put up with them. We know that the informed baseball fan knows as much if not more than these writers do in most cases It doesn't matter that "They are convinced they knwo more than the average fan", the newspaper is.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) How in the hell can the Vikings justify playing Favre anymore? $20 million.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 05:01 PM) I'm not sure either, but that was a bad idea to begin with anyway. Couldnt' you apply the same logic to the air marshall program?
  20. Really should have told him that a few months ago.
  21. Pass interference on Randy Moss.
  22. Now I think you're on to something.
  23. Let's figure out what makes these things so pointless then.
  24. Just because he would doesn't mean everyone would.
