  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 1, 2010 -> 01:10 PM) All 15 ABs were most likely 8 to 10 years ago. That ball hung up forever.
  2. Vizquel is 8/15 career against Vazquez.
  3. We pulled the guy hitting .193 out of the leadoff spot to replace him with the guy hitting .093.
  4. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 1, 2010 -> 12:43 PM) Give them Jell Havy. If he manages to listen today...
  5. QUOTE (G&T @ May 1, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) The organization's problem today is the unbelievably bad drafting for most of the decade. Not a single player from the 2006 draft made it to the majors. That's inexcusable. At least some other drafts had some role players like BA, Sweeney, and Fields. It's tough to fill a rosters when you have to always look outside the organization. It will be a waiting game for now to see how the recent drafts help the cause. Of course...the 2006 draft was right after we won the world series...so we were picking at the bottom of every round.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 1, 2010 -> 01:00 PM) Yeah, I'd like to see the person who picked Taj to be a 9 pt 7.5 rb guy as a rook. I got pissed at him after the draft for being cocky and saying he'd make the teams that passed on him pay. I'm happy to be wrong.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) Honestly I think the things today are worse when it comes to political influence being sold off and hidden away in things like riders in bills. Keeping the federal politics out of the capital would seem more important now than ever. Unless they try to allow gays to get married. Or try to touch your guys.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) Helps when you're a 55 year old rookie. You can't even find satisfaction in a guy out-performing expectations, can you?
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 04:57 PM) It would be hard to find a LF who's playing much worse and adding less to the team than Pierre. Carlos Lee and Chris Coughlan.
  10. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 04:15 PM) Agreed. Fits the OBP norm and adds a left-handed stick for us. Hell, he would be terrific at leadoff IMO. Trade them a couple of Linebrink contracts (or have the Cubs kick in $$ till his contract is up) and I'd be on board. Don't know Fukodome's contract when it ends though. Counting this year, he has 2 years and ~$28 million on his contract. He's a FA after 2011.
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 04:11 PM) I think Fukudome gets a bad rap simply because he was a huge free agent coming over from Japan and he hasn't put up Ichiro or Hideki like numbers. Had he replicated his numbers of the previous two seasons in a White Sox uniform, I wouldn't have been opposed to having him in the lineup at all...the dude gets on base. As a #2 hitter, he'd be just fine by me. For $14 million this year?
  12. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) For once we can stand on the same side of the line. There is no way things like this happen unless corners are cut somewhere in the process of building/maintaining such a rig. This was out of carelessness and cost cutting. Honestly...we'll probably in the end find out that you're right, just because cost-cutting and carelessness is so pervasive...but even if BP had done everything right..what they're doing now is not easy. Because most of the cheap, easily accessible oil is long gone. To find new oil, you have to drill farther and farther from shore, lay longer and longer pipes, drill deeper and deeper, access deeper oil that is at higher pressure, control that pressure all the way to the surface, access oil that is at greater temperature, control the temperature on its way to the surface, do so in environments that are heavily corrosive and subject to huge weather issues, and then have absolutely nothing go mechanically wrong. This is an enormous technical challenge. Edit: There were somewhere in the neighborhood of 39 well blowouts in the Gulf of Mexico between 1991-2005.
  13. From the last fossil fuel related disaster before this one. Or hell, there was another collapse in KY a few days ago, maybe this is now 3 disasters ago. Hard to keep track.
  14. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 03:38 PM) I thought it was already a law to carry your legal alien card or whatever at all times. I know my father in law had to carry his at all times before he bcame a citizen. I'm going to post an article commenting on this from a guy named Guillen...and it's NOT OZZIE!!!!
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 03:26 PM) Maybe the oil rig is a lefty conspiracy to get the climate bill to pass. *adjusts tin foil hat* Dude, you're a full day late.
  16. Wondering what the "Worst case scenario for this spill" is? Nightmarish. If the full thing were to blow, you'd have an Exxon-Valdez pouring into the gulf every 2 days. For 3 months.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) Won't need it. It will pass. The only vote I consider even possibly available is Lindsay Graham, and he's been playing "Lucy with the football" all week. Wouldn't surprise me if it died one bit. And then they had to come back with another dirty energy only subsidy bill in response just to pass something.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 03:11 PM) Climate bill will pass, in some form, in the next couple months. Reconciliation isn't an option with this one, they didn't include it in the Budget resolution last year like they did with Health Care.
  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 01:50 PM) Is this another example of nature out to spite GOP rhetoric? Yes. Problem is, GOP here is meaning Ghastly Obama Plan.
  20. Get used to images like this, you'll be seeing them all summer.
  21. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 01:43 PM) Couldn't there be a way to use state IDs/drivers licenses into this instead of a federal level id program? Frankly, no, because of the hodgepodge of laws between different states regarding ID requirements and the Social Security/ID system that the banks have rigged in their favor.
