  1. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 10:29 AM) O-coordinator Turner likely to be dismissed; Lovie will return While the article is written as speculation, Mulligan said on the Score today that those names didnt come out of the air. he talked to a bunch of people inside the organization. That's probably the right way to do it
  2. USC forfeited a bunch of wins and some tourney money after investigating the OJ Mayo recruiting.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 10:09 AM) It also means that apologizing and leaving won't solve the problems. Actually...it does strongly suggest that leaving does solve the problem.
  4. Civil unrest, riots, protests in Afghanistan.
  5. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 09:52 AM) Having a base in Saudi Arabia and "patrolling the streets" of Saudi Arabia are two different things entirely. The U.S. was doing more than just resting on bases when they had forces there.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 09:53 AM) There are plenty of countries who have no invaded others, who are victims of terrorist attacks. The correlation between incidents of terrorism and military occupations is shockingly strong.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 09:32 AM) I think he was healthy for more games than he's played. The fact that we've heard from several sources now that Cutler has been lobbying for him to play more seems to indicate that he was available, but was not being utilized. There's always one other issue...who is to say that if he'd played earlier, he might not have known the system/routes as well and might have struggled more. We hear a lot about the Bears's staff and their inability to develop young talent at the skill positions, now we see a guy who appears to be developing before our eyes and we're still not satisfied.
  8. Lotta black Monday news, although not a huge number of coaches. Yet. Jim Zorn is gone from D.C. Giants expected to fire their Defensive Coordinator. Torn ACL/MCL Combo for Welker. Wonder if that's the career-threatening type injury for him.

    Remember when...?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 12:50 AM) the Cubs won the World Series So, tell me about that first world war?
  10. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 05:55 PM) I'd guess it was posted here because it was a conservative saying something stupid. On Fox News (the official channel of the Republican Party)
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 08:01 PM) I would be curious where that line for people... How many people would like to have a society like Israel with M16s on most corners, 4 hour waits for plane trips, and searches done all of the time? There's one other issue that you'd likely bring up if it was the other thread; how many jobs would that cost in terms of tourist and business dollars that are suddenly less able to flow. (don't have an answer, but it should be a consideration here; you make travel from overseas more difficult and you cost American jobs)
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 08:21 AM) We're patrolling neighborhoods in Yemen and Saudi Arabia? For a long time in Saudi Arabia, yes we were. That was one of Bin Laden's complaints prior to the 9/11 attacks; the U.S. left a large contingent of troops there after the gulf war. They pulled out at the start of the Iraq war when we found a new base to move them to.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 08:21 AM) We will never be at that level. Israel is surrounded by, and economically intertwined with, multiple states who politically and literally want them dead. Geography and economics will not allow the US to have that level of security threats from Islamic Jihadists and the like. Just won't happen. The problem is, of course, the catch-22...a big part of the reason why those states want Israel dead is how Israel behaves in trying to protect itself.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 07:50 AM) There are 3 players that have stood out to me these last few Bears games that probably should show why management is completely retarded since they werent added until late in the season. Bell, Shaw and Aromashodu. Tim Shaw is everywhere, why hasnt this guy stuck somewhere? Don't know the other 2, but Aromashodu appears to be a classic NFL case; guy with some physical skills and talent who bounces around to a number of teams, getting exposed to playbooks and learning a few teams at each stop, deals with an injury or two, and finally finds a situation where things start to click. He's been hurt for part of the year I'm told, and it's entirely possible that he may just not have been ready until the last few games.
  15. If he responds I'm sure he'll say he was kidding. It sure doesn't seem like he was. Video at link.
  16. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 02:49 PM) have you seen the scan images? there is no way to tell who it is. it's like some weird corpse looking silhouette, can't make out facial features. I've seen some of them, and I think either you're wrong now or you'll probably be wrong at the next software update. I'll bet if you saw yours, you'd recognize your face.
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Should probably tell Jim Caldwell that considering he played Manning today. Although the conditions weren't exactly favorable, given that the Colts have a bye next week, I don't mind giving him a series or two just to keep his timing at "Game-pace".
  18. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) Beneath the hyperbole is a great point. Closing off one avenue for terror simply means the terrorists will move on to another type of target. The response to that is pretty easy. How many situations are there where a small explosive can kill 200-300 people, other than an airplane? You force them onto other targets, you potentially save lives.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 2, 2010 -> 11:02 PM) Its been done before, it will be done again. Coaches with teams that are cruising into the playoffs routinely sit players to make sure nothing happens to them en route to the playoffs. Unfortunately for the Colts, it cost them their undefeated season And Wes Welker gives the argument about why the coaches that do that are right.
  20. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 01:03 PM) Yea, but seriously, you could restrict access to the screening room. You could even have it in a separate part of the airport and when there is a security breach they send an electronic message directly down to security at the screening point. If we can't keep some doofus from running into the screening room then we might as well just give up. On the other hand...there are these cell phones these days that have pretty good cameras.
  21. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 02:19 PM) maybe they are not ready for use yet. maybe they will never be effective. Just based off of what I know about the kind of electromagnetic waves that we have accessible, it sure seems like there ought to be a way to get this to work correctly, if you can make the machines smart enough. Doesn't mean we're there yet, there might not have been a desire for this equipment's development until af ew years ago.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 2, 2010 -> 02:17 PM) What big injuries have happened this year in practices? Brandon Marshall. (Snicker)
  23. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 2, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) That's your posts, not mine. Sequence: Balta tries to raise an issue here, without mentioning Obama, Bush, or any specific agency. Immediate response is to defend Bush/attack Obama. Balta responds: "Um, that's a terribly inapt comparison, for reasons X, Y, Z." Response to balta: "Why do you do nothing but Defend Obama". Sigh.
