  1. I have zero complaints about adding this player as a depth player. I would note that he has a long injury history, so knowing what you'll do if he hits the IL is important.
  2. Yes he is, but it’s hard to say he’s a 5 win pitcher next year, would you agree?
  3. So far they’ve lost 5 wins from their rotation, so there’s also still an opening for the division if someone moves aggressively. Unlikely for them to miss all 4 wild cards though.
  4. Soler would be a bad option for a team that has lots of DHs and righties and needs a guy to play OF defense and hit left handed.
  5. If he swings and misses at precisely the right frequency for the waves to move around the ballpark, they will interfere constructively and turn into a version of Nikola Tesla’s earthquake machine.
  6. Isn’t there a full day still? Dec. 1 for the lockout right?
  7. I will lay a large bet that Seager never becomes a major creditor in a Rangers bankruptcy.
  8. Did they try to sign Harper to a comparable deal at the same time?
  9. This is also a franchise that thus far has not been able to get a boost in attendance from opening a new ballpark due to factors beyond their control. They also consistently had a top 10 payroll from 2011-2018 and are in the ~5th biggest media market in the country, so there's lots of opportunity for revenue growth for them just getting into the race.
  10. No, he would say that even if it was false, because you can't have other teams starting to wonder if the White Sox aren't in a great situation in some negotiation. This is the guy who in 2019 said "We're looking to add middle of the order bats, not just a bat" or some version of that at Soxfest, he will play the game of passing along false statements if it serves some purpose.
  11. Rick Hahn would not come out and publicly say "We do not have the financial flexibility for a signing of greater cost than the Gravemann deal without moving Kimbrel" even if it were totally true. I don't believe it should be, but you can't take that statement as meaning anything.
  12. What significant starters? Stroman and Rodon appear to be the next 2 unsigned ones on the MLBTR list.
  13. He scrubbed all of the Phillies stuff from his instagram feed right after Kimbrel's option was picked up. Then of course...nothing happened.
  14. Heck, the White Sox got an enormous return from a signing at that level. Almost so much that it offsets a lot of those signings. My problem continues to be that they did so many of them in 2019 and 2020, and gave up players in the process. This is where the $50 million+ they added in 2019 while also giving up Narvaez or going for Mazara is coming back to sting.
  15. Different topic - props to you from weeks ago where you said that the Dec. 1 deadline would produce a ton of movement right beforehand. I thought everyone would wait until after the dust settled and there was a firm agreement.
  16. That's what the White Sox offered Wheeler...when they had a team payroll of $80 million the previous season and a starting rotation where Arbitration for Rodon was at the time their highest salaried starter.
  17. (Unless there was a previous handshake agreement) - we already knew that $18 million was too rich for a front line starter.
  18. Wait, why doesn't JR want to shed salary?
  19. Then at least take advantage of one of those strong offers and get Kimbrel moved.
  20. Runs the Mets equivalent of Futuresox. Has connections to the Mariners?
