  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 13, 2009 -> 08:49 AM) Absolutely. You wouldn't find many GM's out there that would trade Sweeney for Anderson. I'm not saying Sweeney has ridiculous value, but Sweeney is a much better player than Brian Anderson. Anderson is better defensively and I know you'll throw out Andersons stats but there is more to the eye than stats but I hope BA proves me wrong cause I love the guy. Right now, Sweeney is really giving me the impression he's going to be an average defensive .260-.275 hitter with no power and not great speed. He's been like that for years. If the Sox had a guy like that, we'd be angry that KW kept throwing this 5th OF out there.
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 12, 2009 -> 08:02 PM) Can you make one for Lillibridge too? Once he's sent down.
  3. QUOTE (Cali @ May 12, 2009 -> 07:54 PM) The Tank 4-4 with 2 doubles I made his AAP page today and noted he was struggling. He must have noticed.
  4. Friggin Celtics. Does this mean the Bulls could have beaten Orlando too?
  5. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 12, 2009 -> 06:12 PM) Hmm. Ozzie committing to a bullpen draining game tonight. Hope we can ease up on the pen for tomorrow mornings game Dude, you know as well as I do who's on the mound tomorrow.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 12, 2009 -> 05:46 PM) Thome has to go. He's done. Nice guy but can't hit. Clucking un-Futch.
  7. 2 for Thome today. Bring on Mike Schmidt. 5-4 Sox.
  8. QUOTE (sircaffey @ May 12, 2009 -> 05:31 PM) Yes, vs LHP. A Sweeney/Anderson platoon would easily have been the most productive situation in CF. Anderson is hitting .231 against lefties and .308 versus righties.
  9. QUOTE (sircaffey @ May 12, 2009 -> 05:19 PM) Sweeney, talented...Wise, talentless. You may not like Sweeney, whatever, but he's a hell of a better option that the trash the Sox have trotted out in CF this year. That's not debatable. Anderson?
  10. DJ says Anderson is off to Charlotte tomorrow for a rehab stint.
  11. That is an excellent bat flip. Do not get in the way of his bat. Seriously.
  12. An intro from DayanViciedo.com Cuban defector Dayan Viciedo impressed with his power in his first outing in the 2009 spring training with the Sox in Glendale, hitting 2 home runs in his 26 A-game at-bats. Ozzie Guillen gave him the nickname "The Cuban Tank", a reference to Alexei Ramirez's nickname "The Cuban Missile". The now 19 year old checks in at 5'11", 240. Viciedo's batting is still a work in progress though, he only hit .231 in his first training camp. He struggled to start off the year after being sent to Birmingham, AA ball. He is currently hitting .214 with an OPS of .557, and has committed 7 errors at 3rd base. He has 30 k's and 2 BB's. Worth noting; the White Sox only have Viciedo for 4 years, no matter what, so he will be up soon regardless. Dayan @ Baseball Reference Dayan @ Minorleaguebaseball.com
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 12, 2009 -> 04:57 PM) If anything, his hot streak could finally rid us of having to watch Brent Lillibridge when BA is ready to return. At this point, it's difficult to imagine how Lillibridge won't go down this weekend.
  14. HR and a walk for Thome. He's seeing the ball well today...hopefully that's going to become a trend.
  15. NO ONE HAS VICIEDO? DIBS ON THE 2 CUBANS. HIM AND CONTRERAS.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2009 -> 04:45 PM) Something I noticed about him is he's really slow at getting out of the box. For as fast as he is on the bases, he's nowhere near the speed of Getz when getting down the line. Things like that...things like a longer swing for a speed guy than he should have...those are things he should be learning...and when you hit like .200 in AAA after 2 years beforehand being a quality prospect, that should be a signal to you that you have things to learn and you better learn them quick.
  17. QUOTE (sircaffey @ May 12, 2009 -> 04:38 PM) .289/.313/.408 vs RHP (.307/.369/.429 in '08)...Sweeney would have made a solid compliment with Brian Anderson. Instead we had to suffer through the Wise era and now the Podsednik era. It's pathetic. Wise put up a higher OPS than Sweeney last year. And if Sweeney was on the Sox right now, he'd be hurt.
  18. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 12, 2009 -> 04:40 PM) i don't really get why this is... how is any of this his fault per se? You'd kind of hope a guy like him would learn a few things about how to use his speed...being more of a slap hitter, rather than popping the ball up all the time.
