ALDS Game 2 - Chicago @ Houston - 1:07pm CDT
Amazing what happens when a guy takes a couple steps in the right direction before a play. It’s almost as if it’s a strategy rather than luck.

Clearing a spot for Franco was not a mistake.

Then use Hamilton and keep your defense strong, or use Sheets to try to score more.

Lol he even told his own staff to shut up this year when they were trying to tell him in Cincinnati about the rule he didn’t know. They are employed because they don’t question him.

All right, so who are you trading Robert for?

Yeah I thought about that but Craig Kimbrel, one of the best relievers of the last decade who we paid a huge price for to be a strong reliever, does not get that excuse. Someone gets on - great, Kimbrel is supposed to get the next guy.

I’m just going to hate every trade Rick Hahn makes this offseason. I should have known better with this one.

Jesus Christ I literally wrote the inning.

Nope. They’re a better defense, better coached and better positioned. No difference in luck to my eyes, they made their own luck.

The “seeing eye hits” are all on one side because the manager believes shifting guys into the way of those hits is a bad thing.

It’s one of like 7 LaRussa decisions all of which have been terrible, that one was just obvious in July. We knew in May he would make an infuriating bullpen decision in the playoffs that was key in a loss, we just didn’t know what it would be. We knew in July this would backfire.

The manager needed to prove his moves would work, just like the whole season.

I mean, yeah it does, pretty much the whole roster has been better at home bullpen included, but more so yesterday with Lynn.

Sox Acquire Kimbrel; Madrigal, Heuer to Cubs
This is what I get for liking a trade by Hahn. I should have known better.

They did a decent job of taking the first few pitches, but when they swung they weren’t swinging at things they could hit. Out of the first 7 outs, 5 were recorded on offspeed pitches - the only guy who put a fastball in play was Abreu. Everyone else made contact on pitches that have .150 batting averages against them.

You have an odd definition of a decade.

Lucas Giolito Against the Astros (Since 2019)
You don’t take him out if he’s cruising, but going into the game you ask him to give you his 5 best innings and empty the tank if he needs to. If he gets in trouble in the 4th or later, you don’t let him lose.

Dropping this here also - Kopech, Tepera, Bummer, Kimbrel, and Hendriks should all be available today. They will of course give up a run in the 8th inning, but Giolito should not be allowed to lose this game any time after the 3rd inning or so. You get 4 or 5 from him, start shuffling in arms.

I know they will give up a run or two in the 8th inning, but this bullpen is over rested. Tepera, Bummer, Kimbrel, Hendriks, and Kopech should all probably pitch today. There’s no reason why G needs to go 7, and frankly if he gives you what, 4 solid innings, it’s on the manager if he gives up the lead after that point.

The White Sox faced him twice this year. He went 7 innings, gave up 3 R (2 earned) in Houston for a win, and he went 6.1 innings and gave up 4 ER for a loss in Chicago.
