  1. What happens if the CBA hardens the cap level and 3 months after you pick up his option he becomes unmovable until the trade deadline? It may not be likely, but it’s a nonzero risk.
  2. Lopez is arb eligible, and he can certainly get another shot after his work this year.
  3. They have a big pair of $15-20 million decisions with Kimbrel’s option and Rodon and the qualifying offer.
  4. If you’re expecting the White Sox to have superior strategy in this postseason, you’re not going to be too thrilled.
  5. No, it hasn’t worked IN Houston. He has been solid against them when pitching at home. 2-1 with an ERA in the low 3s against them at home, now 3-7 with an ERA approaching 6 in Houston.
  6. You can’t ask a guy to be something he isn’t all of a sudden in the playoffs. A few more breaking balls wasn’t going to change this performance.
  7. Great, so now if he has to pitch again in this series he doubts his normal game plan. Good work!
  8. I think Lynn is fine. This was a carbon copy of his outing in Houston in June, we had him being beaten badly in Houston if they got home field advantage pegged months ago as the likely result, well before his IL stint.
  9. Yes. The Astros fans had to wake up to make it stop being that.
  10. On the bright side, I burned off well over 800 calories during this game. Probably closer to 900.
  11. At the very least they've got to find a way to make him work. Both games this year he threw 94 pitches, one of them he lasted 6, one of them he lasted 7.
  12. I dunno, I feel like more important for the White Sox is what Lynn can bring to the table. I don't think this team is going to be shut down completely, I think the Sox will do some damage, but I genuinely don't know what Lynn will be able to do against the Stros today.
  13. I wonder if Abreu affected the choice of player also. If Vaughn/Sheets have to play 1b, that takes them out of an OF/DH spot and leaves them with a depleted bench for a day or two.
  14. Yes. Because "It would have been nice to win 2 more games" is such an unreasonable request that it is tantamount to demanding perfect games every day.
  15. Well yeah but if you also gave me that the Twins and Clevelanders were going to collapse then my guess at the start of the year would have been substantially higher than the 87 I went with.
  16. For a team that was "all about the playoffs in the grand scheme of things", a number 3 seed (and effectively just needing 2 more wins) is still frustrating as all hell.
