Mumbling something angry about a guy named Jeff.

Got it. Anderson definitely was specifically pushing someone right near the ump who came in from (I think) 3rd, so I think I get it now that I see him.
-
I can't even find Anderson in the crowd of early people coming out.

The Delta Variant was first identified in India in December of 2020. It is incredibly impressive that the vaccines were able to trigger the formation of a new variant before virtually any of them were deployed, and certainly not in India.

I mean, for a football stadium - being able to walk around before and after the game has some consequences. There's a limitation to the number of people you can bring into an area, you need parking for them, you need road capacity, and it only happens rarely. If you have a well situated baseball stadium in an urban area, it can work (Pittsburgh, San Francisco), but it can also be troublesome if you don't have transit options. These NFL stadiums are colosseums. I don't want to be stuck in traffic for 3 hours to get out of the way of one.

Is ReyLo back in consideration for the starting rotation next season?

Yes. Because LaRussa is going to insist that Kopech is one of his high leverage relievers again. -
Oh I agree I hate public funds for stadiums. A mostly privately financed palace in the suburbs and a redeveloped lakefront with some legit use would have been my favorite concept 20 years ago before the spaceship landed and destroyed the historic designation. But the Bears moving to the suburbs and that land being stranded as rarely used parking lots seems like the worst possible scenario, worse than the city building a modern stadium there, so that’s my guess as to what will happen.

What do the Bears want in this context?

While the setting would be cool, the experience of trying to get 23,000 people to that spot 81 times a year would just be brutal. On weeknights? And the weather there seems iffy.

One mind blowing stat I learned this year…out of all the people in this country who get cancer and then die within a couple years, the flu kills 1.5% of them. It’s basically unavoidable, cancer treatments often knock out the immune system so even vaccination can only do so much. Imagine what that number will be like if we leave a virus out there that is 20x deadlier. But then, getting cancer is a question of personal responsibility right? You can just decide not to? Obviously we have one poster here who has declared himself immune from cancer and that’s just awesome. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33107375/

In average the risk of hospitalization is reduced by over 90% by vaccination. Half of those who are hospitalized after vaccination are also immune compromised, so on average it’s effectively better than a factor of 20 amongst folks with working immune systems. It is also less effective among the elderly, but third shots were just approved for them. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/08/24/cdc-study-shows-unvaccinated-people-are-29-times-more-likely-to-be-hospitalized-with-covid.html

Is that litigation ever expected to end? A decaying soldier field with a spaceship in it hosting an occasional concert does seem like a nice monument to some politicians.
-
I know it’s definitely not built for this right now, but how much would it be worth to the city if they were able to sell and develop the land that the soldier field spaceship and the parking lots sit on? Isn’t that worth billions?

I do think Vlad and Salvy have more than 26 home runs. -
Padres and Mets were eliminated on the same pitch.

You can calculate a midterm grade well before the final exam occurs. Its a C. The only reason it isn’t a D is Tepera.

The legacy of a team getting called the Indians because they had a Native American player and the league tainted them because of it? Whose family and Tribe didn’t want the name kept? Hell, keeping that name under that circumstance throws away their legacy. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/sports/some-native-americans-applaud-cleveland-indians-name-change-say-it-n1251183 -
But that’s also why they kept pushing him to come back before he was really healthy.
-
I will be convinced that LaRussa won’t start Goodwin when I see the roster without him.
-
He’s never been repeatedly hurt like this though. This one seems like it could have been a “playoffs are here, might as well give it a shot” gamble by the training staff.
-
They have been one of the most banged up teams all year. Right now Snell is done for the season, but almost everyone other than Machado has had a stretch on the IL. Tatis was there several times with that shoulder, he would probably have 50+ home runs now if healthy. But perhaps more important, a lot of their big acquisitions underperformed. Snell and Darvish both have ERAs over 4 and Snell has fewer innings than Rodon. Hudson, Pomeranz have either struggled or been hurt. They also have better run differentials than St Louis or Cinci, so they are underperforming overall.

Man I seriously thought Boston was beat when they fell out of the Wild Card 5th spot a couple weeks ago. Did they add someone in August? (Checks notes) let’s see, lefty starter, 5-0, 2.57 ERA, man this guy looks like something else.
