How can you not pinch run for the catcher at 2nd base in the 10th inning with expanded rosters?
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 06:22 PM) Why the hell does Owens get to stay in the game? Because Brian Anderson accidentally ran over Ozzie's dog. And by accidentally, I mean repeatedly. And in place of dog, I meant son.
-
Fields takes 3rd, Owens stays in LF.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 06:20 PM) Still Jenks ? Unless Linebrink was at 100%, against this part of their order you don't have a choice.
-
And then you get something like that...

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 06:07 PM) Why? It isn't like there will ever be a save situation. Well, the big thing I noticed is that we brought him in for the bottom 1/3 of their order, not the part of the order that you're scared of. If he faces Tex he's doing so with 2 men on this inning or in his 2nd inning of work, neither of which is ideal.
-
I understand the idea, but with us playing at home, I don't like using Jenks here.
-
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 04:22 PM) He needs to get it going this month, otherwise we could be in trouble. Hitting .417, 1.500 OPS for Juan so far this month.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 04:15 PM) Hit-and-run time? I don't know why you trade for Cabrera if you don't do a H&R with him in the 5th inning of a tie game against another team's ace with no one out.
-
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 04:14 PM) lol normally Uribe and get us going don't go together. He's got it going on though, 2 soft hits. I keep pointing this out...the numbers for his career say that in September, Juan usually does actually get it going.
-
Say what you want about Gavin's run support, but once again, he's stood up for 5 innings so far against an offense that is now one of the most loaded ones in the league and gone pitch for pitch with John Lackey. There's a reason why he's piling up those wins.

It looks almost certain to give a beating to the Keys first...but the next one up in line, Ike, seems destined to make a run at the Gulf of Mexico and possibly NOLA as well.

Media Bias: Perceived or Real? To what extent, and where?

So, you complain about how they don't mention the party affiliation, and then say that oh wait, they mentioned it, just not soon enough for your taste. -
58 pitches through 4 for Gavy. Not a bad number there so far.
-
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 03:27 PM) Isn't he an OF? If that's the case, I think that's just way too many. He does play some OF but also is a full utility man, usually playing 2b and 3b as well.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 06:18 PM) Anyone think Juan could be our starting third baseman in 09' ? Frankly I really hope not. Anywho...getting hot in September is a Juan Uribe specialty. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 06:07 PM) Too soon for Anderson to come in? Replace Anderson with Owens and your answer is no., -
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 04:49 PM) Ya, and congress being taken over by the dems in 06 has really done a lot to help. I didnt realize how much BETTER things have gotten since the switch. Apparently congress has nothing to do with the economy. Because there's nothing a minority can do to...you know, hold things up using various techniques...especially in a closely divided senate and with a white house that has a veto.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 04:49 PM) I'll admit it...I'm shocked more people watched McCain's speech than Obama's. I still wonder how they counted internet numbers.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 05:51 PM) Soscia is dopey sometimes. They have a 17 game lead and he's going to burn his bullpen in a game he's clearly going to have a hard time to win. Although...it's after September 1. So really, burning one's bullpen really doesn't mean the same thing after 1 Sept. as it does beforehand. -
So it seems to not have been posted here, but a few days ago we heard that a Russian team made a serious offer on Gordon. Now it turns out...Ben Gordon's agent was using the Russian media to plant a story about him receiving that offer as a negotiating tactic with the Bulls.

Dean calls the Republican party the 'White Party"

QUOTE (WCSox @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 03:49 PM) You saw only about 8 people who weren't white at the RNC because the crowd consists of almost all delegates. BTW, Michael Steele (the head of GOPAC) spoke early on Wednesday. However, it turns out you did see some faces of African Americans who support McCain broadcast on their screen. Faces bought, of course, from istockphoto.com. -
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 12:36 PM) Worst thing Ozzie can do is force Owens into the lineup using the "speed" excuse. While Owens has speed, he can't get on base I guarantee you this means more playing time for Owens.

QUOTE (Soxy @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 11:04 AM) Okay, give me one republican community organizer that deserves a high ranking public office. Ron Paul? On a slightly serious note...community organizer itself clearly isn't the sole qualification you'd need for a public office. Usually you can feed from those sorts of positions though in to other positions at the local or state level that get you going. Governor Palin got her start in politics, IIRC some article I read a week ago, thanks to a politically active workout club in Wasalia.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 09:31 AM) Did you really think that writeup of Obama's speech was that bad? Yeah, he didn't like Obama's balls, but he didn't say anything bad about it. It wasn't anything special in the way of speeches, especially considering all the ones he had done previously. He said nothing new, and the article points out that it helped his base, but would piss off Republicans. McCain's, on the other hand, DID say something new, which is why it seemed to get more positive coverage right afterwards. Just out of curiosity, what new stuff did Senator McCain say?
