  1. QUOTE (DBAH0 @ May 30, 2008 -> 07:14 AM) Seeing him in person tonight against the Mets at Shea. Really looking forward to seeing that filthy curveball of his, mixed in with his fastball / change combo. Is he the best young pitcher to come into the majors over the past season and a bit, or would you rather have a Max Scherzer for example? In terms of where they were the day they were called up for the first time, I think the last guy who I'd say was at the level where I think Kershaw can be right now is Verlander. Just amazing stuff to start off. Maybe King Felix or Liriano would go in that boat, but each of them has a different set of pitches. But with young pitchers...there's so many variables it's just impossible to say whether you'd rather have one guy or the other. You give me 2 dominating young pitchers, I'll place a bet that 1 of them will suffer a major injury within a few years that sets them back (who would you have picked in 06, Liriano or Weaver/Verlander?). Or one will have his mechanics go screwy after a bad game and his pitch counts will go nuts (Floyd, Billingsley). Or one will have something else crazy happen.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 30, 2008 -> 08:34 AM) Thursday's win was so big, cause the next two days we face some tough, tough pitchers, and the guy Sunday may not be that good, but still shut us out with no problem last month. But now...the Rays have to deal with Contreras, Vazquez, and Buehrle.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2008 -> 06:26 PM) Crede was on everything yesterday, so that's encouraging to see. He could be a 30/30 player this season! home runs and errors?
  4. QUOTE (G&T @ May 29, 2008 -> 05:45 PM) AJ K's swinging. 2 out. AJ's down under .200 his last 7 days. 0/5 today with 3 k's.
  5. Anderson in as a defensive replacement!
  6. Konerko and Thome both have 2 hits, 1 for extra bases, and an RBI tonight. JT also with a walk.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 29, 2008 -> 05:23 PM) Beautiful. 6 more. 7 more if Joe has anything to say about it.
  8. The only 2 players in baseball with more errors than Joe are Julio Lugo and Bill Hall.
  9. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 29, 2008 -> 05:06 PM) great piece of hitting from longoria These young D-Rays are pretty darn good. Thankfully, they don't yet match our young pitching.
  10. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ May 29, 2008 -> 04:58 PM) Swish looks more comfortable at the plate. Nick got good wood in his previous at-bat, but flew out to Crawford... I bet in a week or two that ball leaves the park. I couldn't care less about ball leaving the park, I just want hits from him. Just stop being an out machine.
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox15 @ May 29, 2008 -> 04:55 PM) Danks at 91 pitches through 5. If he has a quick 1-2-3 in the 6th, think they'll bring him out for the 7th? Not unless he does it on 5 pitches. John's still the youngest member of our staff. He's never thrown more than 140 innings in a season. It behooves the team to still baby him this year.
  12. Good work by Danks getting through those 2...I wouldn't give upton anything close to the plate here.
  13. Iwamura and Crawford are 3/4 between them tonight. Have to be careful here. Damn it would have been nice to have scored a run, any of those times...
  14. FWIW, Edwin Jackson has a WHIP tonight of 1.8.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox15 @ May 29, 2008 -> 04:36 PM) What's Danks' high for Ks in a game? 8, 2 times, 1 last year 1 this year.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox15 @ May 29, 2008 -> 04:29 PM) Whats the word on the Rays' pen? How good are they? 12th best bullpen ERA in baseball, but they're missing their closer and his 2.95 ERA tonight.
  17. QUOTE (Mplssoxfan @ May 29, 2008 -> 04:26 PM) Well, in any other year, they wouldn't have gotten any say. It's just an anomaly of this year's race. Even still, they have more delegates than quite a few of the states, even the late ones.
  18. Does it seem to anyone else like our opponents are piling up the errors lately?
  19. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 29, 2008 -> 05:12 PM) i hate when our young pitchers are afraid of the f***ing bat, throw goddamn strikes Honestly, walking Upton there wasn't the worst idea in world history.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2008 -> 04:53 PM) Wouldn't that been when he was coming up with the A's (end of Tejada era and into Chavez's era)? CQ....you're my favorite player in baseball! Tejada's last season in Oakland was 2003. Swisher made his debut (60 ab's) in 2004, and got regular playing time in 05.
