QUOTE (Capn12 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 06:05 PM) How bad are our 'super sluggers' right now?? At least Thome's salary will come off the books after this season He'd have to actually sit a few games to keep that option from vesting.

And Konerko passes Swisher to take the lead!
-
Konerko's going for the Batting average award here...

QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 05:55 PM) Wow...way to come back Floyd....reminds me of the Cleveland game...Floyd is rolling then he gives up a couple rockets, then settles down. Does he have a problem with concentration? Seems like he lets up a bit here and there. Still a good night for Gav. When has Gavin had the opportunity to learn how to pitch with a decent lead?

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 06:33 PM) The speech was fine. But thanks for your input Obamatron3000. I'm reading that there were actually people on Fox News discussing reasons for why his speech was so bad tonight. -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 06:47 PM) She keeps plugging her website. Pathetic. If you were in her shoes, would you want to pay off that debt?

Konerko is still hitting .0001 above Swisher.

LOL

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 06:27 PM) Suck Patrol at it again tonight. I'd really love to see 2 of these 3 on the bench every night for the next week.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 06:25 PM) Gotta move the runners. Horrible at bat there. Konerko down to .203. Incensed he is that Swisher beat him to .200.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 05:17 PM) http://thinkprogress.org/2008/05/28/mccain...e-time-in-2008/ And that was only the times he was ACTUALLY there to vote. He's missed more votes in the last two years than any person in the senate. Let's just add, CQ= Congressional Quarterly, which sits behind a subscription wall. Here's the data table on McCain's votes for and against Bush for the last 8 years, also...since as I keep saying, it's just folly to plot up the votes of people who are off campaigning for a higher position, because they only show up for the strongly contested ones. Rumor: Hillary Clinton to Concede Dem Nomination

I'd just like to add...on this historic night. Damn. That took freaking forever. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 05:13 PM) If Sox can't win with 6 runs...then we just aren't good. Like it or not...the way we've been struggling with the bats, it'd make us all feel a lot better if they kept getting hits.
-
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 05:08 PM) Here is a question. If Quentin could play an adequate CF, who would AZ rather have right now, Young or Quentin? Hell, I think they'd rather go sign Kenny Lofton and have him in CF while putting Q back in LF.
-
QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 04:57 PM) Bad defense leads to two runs there. I feel like I'm hearing this more any time this season than I did any of the past few years with the noteable exception of games Mack was in CF.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 04:51 PM) Gavin should just worry about the hitter. It's been so long since he's has a chance to pitch with a decent lead that he's forgotten how.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 04:48 PM) I've called them out for 2 full years now! Someone who matters...

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 05:39 PM) McCain officially begins the general election with a banner that says "A Leader We Can Believe In" hmmmm.... Is that REALLY the best he can come up with?? Well, at least it's not lifted from an anti-depressant. -
QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 04:42 PM) was that considered a hit? At least for now, unless someone places a phone call I guess.
-
QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 04:42 PM) just think, this is about the level of team the cubs have played like the entire month I think the Royals would have a shot at challenging for a division in the NL.
-
Alexei is 4 for his last 5.
-
Joba Chamberlain lasted 2.1 innings (62 pitches) in his first start.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 05:06 PM) So what is to stop OPEC from dropping supply to keep prices high? (see how that works? ) In that case, the U.S. makes a fortune because we start selling oil that we bought at lower prices for $130, and we use that money to fund a legit alternative energy research program.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 05:07 PM) I honestly feel that Hilldog would have been a surer bet for a democrat in office. However, I would have had a REALLY tough time voting for her. And you know what? I feel the exact opposite. I feel like the Republicans would just drag out all the old garbage that never went anywhere, Whitewater, Paula Jones, Vince Foster, and so on...and whether or not there is any merit to them, between the media going off on it, and the fact that I think an awful lot of people are just sick of hearing about this stuff, it would really hurt her in the fall. But thankfully, we'll never have to know, and the last time the Dems voted based on some arbitrary measure of electability, it didn't work that well anyway. -
Can we just assume for VP Pick that the VP pick is at some level a sane choice? Because that's open ended enough that I could say "Well, what if Senator Obama chooses to run with George W. Bush"? You might respond "well that's against the law" and I'd say yes, but it's not ruled out by the poll question.
