  1. QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 08:34 PM) how long does paulie have to continue to suck until he no longer gets the "PAULIE, PAULIE" chant? After 2005...years.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 08:08 PM) Pull baseball that inning. Hopefully we see Logan instead of Loaiza. Yup. You have to put in the lefty for Teahen
  3. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 08:06 PM) At some point soon, they will put on the dramatic shift on kong. I'd pay real money to see a team put on a no 1st baseman shift for a righty.
  4. Well, much better that inning Bobby. I think with Teahan and Gathright on tap for the 11th, if Q doesn't end this here then you have to go to Logan for an inning next.
  5. QUOTE (shawnhillegas @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 07:49 PM) In all fairness, that was a pretty weak blown save Yeah, games like this happen even to the best of them.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 07:43 PM) Crap, infield single brings the tying run to plate. Besides the Orioles, the Royals might have as much success against Jenks as anyone. From what I can tell that just doesn't appear to be true. 0-1 record against them, 15 saves, 3.04 ERA.
  7. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 06:35 PM) AJ's favorite pitcher in. Wonder if he has the $100 offer up again.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 06:30 PM) Come on Scotty....I wish we had Logan up to face Teahen. Ozzie just doesn't seem to trust Boone even as a Loogy yet.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 07:14 PM) Obama runs a campaign that brags he doesn't take money from lobbyists. Instead he has them pick his VP. So, I just checked, as far as Opensecrets.org is telling me, there is no James A. Johnson who is currently a registered lobbyist in this country. Again, can you provide a citation for this claim?
  10. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 06:16 PM) So I just checked the line, apparently Danks was just 1 out short of a QS... I guess I'll take it. Coulda done without the whole loading the bases deal though. The starting pitching has bailed out this team so often already that they deserve to get bailed out a few dozen times.
  11. On the Obama/Clinton VP slot, as some have thought, Bill Clinton might be the dealbreaker, because the Clintons would be required by the Obama campaign to open up and disclose everything. Where all their income came from, their full tax returns, the full donor roster of all Clinton's charity work and the Clinton Library, etc.
  12. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 06:09 PM) How the hell is that ruled a base hit and not a fielders choice?!? Cabrera carries a cell phone.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 06:30 PM) I might not know much...but I know you can't trade draft picks like in the NBA or NFL. I know, it just seemed like an odd reaction to the Sox taking the lead.
  14. Has an official distance been given yet? I couldn't see online exactly where it landed, does it have a shot at Borchard's?
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 05:26 PM) Do you think we can make a trade prior to the draft tomorrow to get some offense in return for our 8th pick? So this is how you respond to us taking the lead?
  16. Did they ever give a distance on Thome's homer?
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 06:11 PM) I command you to homer Thome. Seriously, even for a slumping Thome, it's time for one.
  18. Of course it has its roots in the late 90's. But look at the very inflation adjusted graph you posted...it is essentially horizontal from 1991 to 1998. 1998 was when we saw the first and almost negligible tick upwards of housing prices relative to inflation. You're trying to pin that entire bump on the guy who was in charge during the flat spot just by saying "Oh the conditions were there", but without acknowledging the fact that he could do nothing to stop any of the problems because he was no longer working there!
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 04:47 PM) Meaning? Meaning...first, those guys are faster than say, Konerko, who's in front of him now. Second, compared to early in the season where he was hitting behind Cabrera and Swisher, and even when he was dropped a bit behind Q and JD, He's probably seeing more people on base now than in previous years.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 05:44 PM) It probably won't impact voters at all, which is unfortunate. Its just another hint that dispite all of the propaganda otherwise, the exact same types of people are going to be running an Obama White House as a McCain White House or a Clinton White House. Its ironic that Obama has the gall to say he doesn't take money from special interest groups, yet hires a person responsible for the mortgage meltdown to help pick his VP. Yeah, I am sure there won't be any conflict there... Sort of like no one had a problem with Bush and Cheney picking energy executives to write energy policy, right? According to the blurb posted a page ago, he was at Fannie Mae from 91 to 98? Is that incorrect, or do you have information about the work he's done with Perseus LLC (whatever the hell that is) which is listed according to Wikipedia as his current employer? Considering that the mortgage market craziness basically started after his time ended there, I'm hoping you'll elaborate as to his connection.
