  1. QUOTE (SoxWS05 @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 02:26 PM) Quentin should be in the #2 spot in the lineup tomorrow. OC hit's #9 OC should get a day off.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 02:26 PM) OC's bat speed looks brutal. It has been that way since day 1 of ST. He definitely looks his age now. Players don't fall off a cliff this rapidly at age 33.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 02:22 PM) OC fails to put a hit-and-run into play again:) He's such a bust, it's not even funny! Get him out of the 2 spot. How can a guy go from being such a solid hitter in the 2 hole to such a bad one in 1 offseason? Maybe, um, it's time for a rest for him. (See below).
  4. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 02:21 PM) SWISH, thanks for not swinging at that garbage. Not saying he has been, but he's definitely been taking way too many good pitches to hit today, good job nick. OC needs to do something here other than a GIDP. ARGH.
  5. Finally Swisher just puts the bat on his shoulder.
  6. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) There was a time not that long ago when Alexi Ramirez was starting over Carlos Quintin......... 24 games ago.
  7. QUOTE (Cowch @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 01:10 PM) Why did Crede and BA have to reach without getting a hit? Because the best way to face Cabrera has, since he came up, been to get on base without getting a hit as much as possible. Unfortunately, it seems BA might be the only one in our order who knows that.
  8. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 02:06 PM) Orlando Cabrera's plate discipline is nothing comparable to what was sold at the time of the trade. The dude had, 2 seasons ago, an on-base string where he got on base at least once every game for 2 months. That's just not the guy we've gotten so far at all
  9. Who in the world told all of our hitters to be this aggressive against Cabrera?
  10. QUOTE (SoxWS05 @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) Isn't he a free agent next season? Quick inning Swish, OC, Thome 1-2-3 on maybe 8 pitches No, JD is under contract for 2008 and 2009 with an option year in 2010.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) quick inning for Cabrera there The bottom of our order worked him for a 26 pitch inning. The top followed up with a 6 pitch inning.
  12. QUOTE (SoxWS05 @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 12:50 PM) JD is just not the player he once was and we should trade him while he's still somewhat healthy. Maybe beef up the farm system. He still has a NTC this season.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 12:44 PM) At what point do we decide his near .350 OPS isn't ready for the majors? What a joke! He's clearly not, but based on those stats for his first 31 at bats, I bet we could find potential HOF guys who started off this season "not ready for the majors" based on that metric.
  14. 26 pitch inning there for Cabrera, keyed by the bottom 1/2 of our order.
  15. Probably because of the double header on Saturday...either we needed an extra pitcher or one of Danks/Buehrle was going to have to go on 3 days rest. Throwing Masset in as a starter for a game seems like a better option than pushing one of those 2 this earlhy.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 27, 2008 -> 10:55 PM) I don't think discussing red flags is so negative a thing. I do agree with him that the Sox performance at home is a potential problem and worthy of red flag status even this early. I agree there's reason for great optimism and I think we're better this year, but I am a bit concerned about the Sox play at home. An interesting thing of note...in 2005, the Sox were also a better team on the road than at home. 52-29 on the road, 47-34 at home.
  17. Also, if you look at the map in motion, right now the rain is just sort of circling around a central point right in the city. It's not moving rapidly in or away, it's just hanging there. This will be a night game if we're lucky.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 10:56 AM) I'm guessing it won't be for a while. I can see the stadium from my office and no lights are on. This game won't be happening for several hours.
  19. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 07:29 AM) voted fraud is a big issue. In all honesty...no it's not. It would be if people were actually committing it. Virtually all of the evidence out there, including the peer-reviewed and published stuff, tends to find that it barely ever happens. People simply don't show up with intent to defraud the system. Over the 3 year period from 2002-2005, there were a grand total of 38 cases of voter fraud even pushed by the government, despite a big emphasis on it coming from the DOJ. And 1/3 of those failed to result in a conviction. While these laws may be constitutional, and I think they are, they do vastly more to disenfranchise people than they do to stop voter fraud.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Apr 27, 2008 -> 10:46 PM) anyone else think Pie was on someone's s*** list over there? Well, perhaps the better question is when we should add Pie's name to the list of "People the Cubs really should have traded before they hit the big leagues". AKA the P list...Prior...Patterson...Pie...
  21. Hardy fits the Bills needs exactly. Bears fans want a piece of Sweed?
  22. Bills have to take either Sweed or Kelly or Hardy here.
  23. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 03:46 PM) f*** this draft, we have Driver, Jones and Jennings, are future is set, don't need a wide receiver. Stupid pick, shouldve took Sweed if anyone. Just bugs me that WR isnt a weakness and we take one. Didn't make sense to me either.
  24. QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 03:43 PM) Brohm is really dropping. I'm not sure I see a team before Chicago/Detroit that might take him. Atlanta and Baltimore already drafted them, maybe S.F. depending on how they feel about Smith, NOLA has Brees, The Bills have Edwards, the Broncos have Cutler, Philly drafted 1 in the 2nd last year.
  25. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 03:41 PM) WHAT?!? Not that I care, didn't want Flowers, please no QB GB. I wouldn't be surprised if GB grabbed one, but I think they'll bet on finding quality in late round 2 or round 3 if they do so.
