May a curse be on your house, oh tribe of Cleveland!

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 06:52 PM) Personally, I don't believe they're going anywhere this season. They could have won both games with a combined score of 100-0 or lost 100-0 and it wouldn't have changed anything. I doubt the opinions of many others have changed. However, you have to admit -- if you're an optimistic type of person -- that back to back starts such as we've seen with Buehrle and Vazquez cannot happen EVER if we're going to compete. We need consistency out of those two considering the starters who fall behind them. One can fall, but both falling -- and in a limited amount of innings -- is unacceptable. Unfortunately, we're now in a position where we need our 3-4-5 starters to step up and win us a game or two. They certainly have the ability to do it... but I don't think any of us "Trust" them to do so yet. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) Would like to see Quentin or BA pinch hit for Uribe but that ain't gonna happen. I will just keep hoping the leash for a couple of these guys is as short as it should be (Crede, Uribe, Ramirez, McDougal) -

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) Isn't this a guy that some people on here wanted the Sox to go after? Yes, there were a few people interested in the guy. -
QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 06:40 PM) Because he bills himself as 'different' than the average politician? Guess the candidate!

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 06:19 PM) Mac has 2 more outings to prove himself, otherwise he should be down in AAA with Wasserman back up. Has 1 player really decreased in stock as much as MacDougal has since the end of 2006? Jermaine Dye. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 06:05 PM) He had a good year last year, but it didn't dispell the theory that he's not a clutch pitcher. Relying on him to be the core of our rotation is no sure thing. Oh come on, seriously, how many people this offseason were sure that Javy was one of the guys we could count on, that he'd finally figured things out, and the rookies were the ones to worry about. -

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 05:55 PM) If we lose today or if we go back home at 2-4, please, please, please, no one say IT'S EARLY. Games the first week in April count the same as those in September. We are not good enough to be below .500 to end April. While I agree with you on the games counting just as much in April...what do you think the Tigers are saying right now? -
QUOTE(mr_genius @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 05:48 PM) nice to know that harmless drawing of a cross has been added to a list Is it really "harmless"? For all we know, the student could be indicating his support for the KKK or for the olympic park bomber, etc. That's half in jest. But the reality is, most public schools have gone so security crazy in the last 10 years that if you draw anything but a Hello Kitty you're likely to get in trouble. If they wanted to ban all religious imagery, or ban specific things that they've had a problem with, or ban specific things that other schools have had a problem with...that's where we've allowed the rules to go.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 04:27 PM) since when can a public school force you sign over your constitutional rights in order to take a class? that is kind of hilarious. Public schools force students to surrender their rights all the freaking time. Just to enter the building. The unreasonable search one goes right out the window, they can search your lockers, backpacks, or even person without cause. There are clear speech limitations. There are certainly assembly restrictions. Hell, schools can enforce dress codes for crying out loud!

Chris Matthews wonders whether or not Obama can woo regular people. By his definition, African Americans and people with advanced degrees are excluded from the phrase "Regular people".

So, let me just see if I understand this. We're carrying 2 backup OF's right now in Anderson and Quentin. And yet...we keep putting a guy who's probably behind both of them with the bat and who should legit be an infielder on this team for the future in the OF, because? We don't like having backup IF's? Maybe we'll get the Sunday lineup tomorrow and see Quentin and Anderson. -
I'll post this little bit from Rob (Citi) Reich.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 12:43 PM) Quick thoughts: Who will McCain pick for VP? Link.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 11:06 AM) Cause Matt Wise is an awful pitcher. That ball was hit so hard last night. I think Matt Wise tried to get some revenge by breaking into Robert Andino's house. Or at least someone did, I'm just guessing it was Wise.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 11:41 AM) Obama would consider Gore for cabinet position Call me cynical, but it was the LAST question before he left and she read it. hmmmm.... Seriously, how would we expect a candidate to answer that question? "No, Al Gore will not be in my cabinet, I can't stand the man and I think anthropogenic climate change is a myth"?

QUOTE(bmags @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 09:08 AM) Clinton is not down 1%, she's down 3%. If you count the popular vote, I wouldn't be surprised if she was right. Obama has a very narrow lead amongst delegates pledged from primary states, and that's going to dominate the popular vote totals since Caucuses have much lower turnout numbers than primaries. But that's a bit of a joke of an argument to my eyes, because it does underestimate the gap that opened up in late Feb by minimizing the contributions of caucuses.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 07:15 AM) I think you guys have to seperate the executives who run the firms and the firms themselves as entities. The firms employ thousands not to mention provide liquidity and stability to the markets - they need to have a safety net. The executives who leapt off the buildings, on the other hand, need to be held accountable. Steven nails it. Your house is going in to foreclosure and the government won't bail you out? Go buy a house worth about $10 billion, so that if your house goes under, the fed will have to bail you out because its so big that it provides a major impact on the economy.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 07:46 AM) For what it's worth: Obama overtakes Clinton in PA Polls!!! Um...yeah, a 30 or so point swing, from the outlier on one side to the outlier on the other side. Somehow, I feel the urge to go re-read Survey USA's data.

QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:36 AM) My question for IU fans though is why the rush? I mean, I guess recruiting is the name of the game and if you don't have a coach you can't recruit, but it's not like he's going to make huge strides in his first season. He's waaaayyyy behind the game now and he's recruiting into a different level. Even if you want to argue that Marquette and IU have been equal the last decade, IU still has the tradition that wins kids over. There's another bit of pressure in this that you have to remember...folks like me, who are watching the NCAA tournament with other teams succeeding while grumbling in the back of our heads about how IU and the athletic director screwed up badly with that last hire. The sooner they do something to placate people like me, the better off they are. Especially when Gordon announces on Monday he's leaving, we want a bit of good news.
