QUOTE(mr_genius @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 02:42 PM) I would think an Obama supporter is behind those calls. Kind of like the "Iron my shirt!" guy at the Clinton rally was probably a Clinton supporter. The Iron my shirt people were a stunt by a local radio station DJ.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 02:02 PM) Man do the Brewers have a busload of talented young players. If their pitching can stay healthy and Capuano does anything they will walk away with that division. Capuano is probably going to have a 2nd Tommy John surgery. -

They stopped doing PBP but somehow it just became 6-5. No idea if it was on Floyd, on defense, whatever. -
QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 01:47 PM) Wow, that makess Garland their #1. Jared Weaver might have something to say about that pretty soon.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 01:42 PM) Where is the ridicule on Sheets for giving up a grand slam to Omar Infante. Sorry I think Floyd will be average this year with his ups and downs. Spring Stats only matter for our guys. No one cares that Ben Sheets has an 8.31 ERA this spring, all that matters is Floyd sucks. -

Floyd has gotten ahead of every hitter this inning, either 0-2 or 1-2. And another groundout ends the inning, 123. -

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 01:39 PM) The fact that Ramireez is getting a ton of time all of a sudden in CF scares the crap out of me. I am thinking there is a platoon of Owens and Ramirezin CF in the works and the thought of Ramirez leading off makes sense as it would be stupid. Even as one of Anderson's backers, I wouldn't mind at all seeing Alexei take some games in CF while Owens is out just to get him some AB's. I just hope Ozzie does make an effort to spread these games around and doesn't just pencil in Uribe, Crede, Cabrera, Dye, Konerko, and Thome in the same spot 19/20 games. -

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 01:14 PM) Interesting. He strikes out the first two guys, then gives up a hit and a homer. You'd think those guys Fielder and Braun were good hitters or something. -

Very quick top of the 1st for the Sox. 1 2 3. See, this is why I don't like Ozuna as a leadoff man, he popped out on the first pitch. You can't do that against Sheets. -

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 12:51 PM) I would consider your 2nd statement an unbiased version of the truth. The problem is...there's a lot of people who would agree...and there's a lot of people who would disagree. Which is why this movie just doesn't work right now. It's flat out too soon. We still don't know half of the stuff this administration did. We still don't know how things like the Iraq debacle will end. Bush is still a young man and could still have plenty left that he could do with his life. There's no way to do this movie that will avoid making 30% of the population really happy and 70% really angry. Either you take the unabashed pro-Bush side and make his 25% approving people happy, you take the anti-Bush side and make my side happy, or you basically tell the happy story of his marriage with Laura and leave out everything that would be remotely interesting, and thereby make no one except David Broder happy.

No way it's going to be nearly as interesting or well done as the PBS episode of Frontline we just saw.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 12:07 PM) Reading that about Paul just reinforces the belief that I have that American is ready for a third party consistant with small government and limited social policy. So many of those people exist, and NO ONE speaks for them. If that was true, then where are Paul's voters? I could probably package just about any collection of ideas in this country, put a candidate in a race with that set of ideas, and he'd probably pull a couple percent in most primaries. That doesn't mean there's nearly enough people who believe in that set of goals to push a 3rd party. Paul happened to have a set of ideas that crossed with a particular strain of people who were willing and able to give him a lot of money, and despite having as much or more money to spend as McCain, he was in Giuliani territory in almost every state.

QUOTE(mreye @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 09:44 AM) Don't get me wrong, NS. I don't think you intended any malice. Just making a point. It may be an old house without insulation and old, brittle drywall / plaster. I'd like to know what else he was trying to use that he was so unsuccessful to try a gun as a last resort??? Personally, I think you're overestimating the intelligence of the kind of person who would think of using a gun for this purpose at all if you're thinking it was a last resort.

I found this WSJ piece on what appears to be a lack of an equity premium over the last 10 years to be quite fascinating.

If I'm reading these correctly...even counting Dick Cheney giving 75% of his earnings to charities...Dick Cheney took home $1.95 million before taxes in 2005. The Obama family took home 60% of that total value in the 5 year period from 2000-2004. If this isn't a great argument for progressive taxation, I don't know what is.
