  1. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) New Coaches Vikings - Brad Childress Packers - Mike McCarthy Lions - TBD (Marinelli, Haslett, or Grimm) So...do we have some reason to think that any of those guys are the next hall-of-fame coach? I haven't yet. Could be good, but could also wind up quite bad.
  2. QUOTE(soxhawks @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 03:47 PM) no, because the league wants patriots/ colts I would agree that would hypothetically be the goal...but then why would that call have been allowed to stand? It led directly to 7 points for Denver and indirectly to 3 more.
  3. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) He also started the year really bad (0-2, 13 IP, 23 hits, 17 ER, 2 HR, 4 BB, 17 K) in his first 3 games. So hopefully he can start out strong this year. Yankee Hangover?
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) Throw in the President of Iran and Flava Flave and we have a reality show for VH1 Which one of them would Flava wind up dating?
  5. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) I thought so too. Did you feel that same thing when the Patriots were called for a phantom pass interference in the end zone @ the end of the 1st half on Saturday?
  6. Officially done with buying textbooks = flush with cash.
  7. It was either Pearl Jam's Vs., Soundgarden's "Superunknown", or Stone Temple Pilot's "Purple". I honestly don't remember which was first.
  8. Woo-hoo! Now I just need to arrange for my life's story to be made into a book, featured on Dateline, and used at the DNC to try to rebuild gun-control as an issue, thus immensely infuriating Nuke!
  9. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) yeah but the packers almost beat the bears twice this year with a offense with arena league players and Minnesota will actually have a real coach next year, same with detriot. teams change so much year to year its hard to tell for sure. Can you give me some reason to think that those 3 teams will hire good coaches and not bad ones? (i.e. Dick Jauron?)
  10. What would you guys pay to see what happens if we put this guy, Jesus, and Pat Robertson in a room together?
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) IMO, Borchard should be ready to wipe his own butt before being given a shot at the CF job.. He better be hitting .350 with 15 home runs in 200 at bats off of the bench before he gets a shot @ starting in CF.
  12. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) Buffalo burgers are great. I love them and yes buffalo meet is better for you than beef or mostly any other meat. One of the bars in Bloomington served those...had one every time I was in there it seemed. Damn good stuff.
  13. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) Maybe it wont go bankrupt but Im sure you agree that bennies will be sharply curtailed by the time most of us are ready to retire. Even if the Social Security trust fund were to run out of funds in 2043 or so as predicted...Social Security would still be able to pay out a higher rate of benefits in today's dollars to those receiving it than currently is paid out today, due to the effects of population growth and productivity growth.
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 11:04 AM) Maybe we dont feature the tight end because it is not in the scheme. Some offenses like the west coast feature a TE as a major player, some dont. Turner hasnt shown a propensity to use it at the pro or college level. Is it possible he hasn't used it because he hasn't had the personnel?
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 10:40 AM) ^^^ I'll confess I haven't seen the Seahawks enough this year to judge their secondary's performance, but if he's as good as you 2 suggest...he's the key to winning that ballgame.
  16. So, naturally, with the Jack Abramoff mess going on, it makes some logical sense for the Democrats to try to make a major campaign issue of Congressional corruption. After all, the Dems have been fully out of power for 3+ years, and it's damn hard to be corrupt when you don't have a shred of power, so this should be an obviously easy issue for the Dems right? Throw in the billions of reconstruction dollars missing from Iraq, the fact that their majority leader is going down in a blaze of glory...and it's almost being handed to the Dems, right? They couldn't possibly find a way to screw this one up, right? It's just too easy. :banghead :banghead :banghead Guess who the Dems are using to clean up the House?
  17. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 10:14 AM) 55% to 41% in that district is HUGE #'s for what it's worth. Huge in what direction? I was under the impression it was hugely anti-Delay compared to all of the previous years. It's still a ton of votes that need to swing to remove him, but that's still a very large step. In 2002 it was something in the 60's to something in the 30's.
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 09:43 AM) In India, cows are sacred. In the USA we eat ground beef. They must think we are a disgusting society. Muslims won't touch pork. We eat it tons of it every day. Long ago they hatched a plan to take their revenge out on our arteries...
  19. I'll take bets on how long it will be until PETA sends out an anti-clinton press release.
  20. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 08:26 AM) Notice another Texas Republican turned independent to avoid running in the primary against a machine candidate. The GOP is not going to lose this district. The GOP candidate will win, and that candidate will be Tom DeLay. President is a stretch, but he will be back in congress. Is it worth pointing out that the Dems at least made this almost a credible race in 04 when most of the stuff about Delay hadn't broken yet? I believe that Delay's 55-41 win in 04 was actually his closest since he entered Congress.
  21. Man, after reading the article in the first post I was all set to point out how the CIA was already linked to 1 attempt at a coup against Chavez...then I scrolled down.
  22. For the first time in decades, Peta finds an issue around which can garner them the support of the entire sane population of the U.S.
  23. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 09:21 AM) Seahawks win this one. Who do the Seahawks have that can cover Smith?
  24. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 07:08 AM) They were overrated since they were 1-3? Or when they were giving up the least points in the NFL?? I guess the "ratings" really had something to do with that performance huh? Go back to your hole. Personally, I don't think the Bears were all that overrated, I think the Bears today were outcoached and outplayed. Their defense came out looking rusty, like they hadn't played togehter in a few weeks, and they weren't attacking like they were late in that winning streak. And furthermore, the Panthers devised half a dozen little ways to get around the Bears defense, like loads of WR Screens to smith & so forth. But the thing that really hurt the bears was the coaching. Presumably a few people here have noticed how Smith was able to find seams in the zone or run over CB's who were trying to single cover him, so I won't dwell on that.
