I am uncomfortable with the notion of the Bulls running actual strategery.

One of them challenged a former NFL Linebacker to a fight on the House floor.

I don't know whether the part about that being Pence's detail is accurate, but because the person shot wasn't a fleeing black man I think there's some reason to expect that it will be investigated whether or not that shooting was justified. They may have panicked, they may have pulled the trigger accidentally, I will make no guesses about that. I still cannot get over the 5 guys in Riot Gear just standing there and allowing it. They're in full riot gear, they couldn't block that door for a few minutes to give whoever was on the other side a chance to move out? Whether that was Pence's staff or security of someone in Congress, they had only a handgun, no riot gear, as defense, and the 5 Capitol policemen did nothing to assist that person. They could block that door for a few minutes until whoever was on the other side had moved to safety, and even just open the door right afterwards. They didn't have to hold that line the whole afternoon. That's literally a security person on the other side, they're supposed to be on the same side!! The mob brought zip ties with them, if that was the VP or some Congressperson's staff on the other side, were they ok with hostages being taken?!

The 25th Amendment is a clear legal process. If it was followed, then even if Donald Trump gave an order, following it as though he was still the president would be illegal. If someone in the Cabinet or the Defense Department is willing to break the law to support Trump, why would it matter if it was 25th amendment or impeachment? Either way, theyr'e breaking the law and trying to overthrow the government to follow Trump.

I posted that link yesterday (non-humble-brag) and also out of that same poll, more than 1/2 of the self-identified Republicans in the poll said that anything that happened there was Joe Biden's fault, when given the option between Biden, Congressional Republicans, Trump, and Congressional Democrats.
-
To be fair, I didn't hear one peep about the record death toll yesterday. It was one line in my morning news update email.
-
That doesn’t mean anything will change, and we will get to wait to see where the next one happens. Gotta get those voters out in 2022.

Apparently these two had to be separated. This may not have been a fair fight.

I am not embedding this video because someone dies in it, but here is the link. https://twitter.com/partisangirl/status/1347090927811104768?s=21 While the woman is shot yesterday, she is banging on a window. There are 5 officers in riot gear behind her who weren’t stopping the crowd at all from trying to breach the door they were at. They immediately began rendering aid. Their colleague inside was disturbed enough about the situation to pull his gun and open fire (I won’t even judge if that shot was deliberately taken), and there are 5 fully geared officers there not helping control the crowd at all.

”all of this was ok up until yesterday right? No hard feelings can I go back on Meet The Press now?”

What's ironic about the way we've described the police riots over the summer is that the bad ones have often been described as "a few bad apples", when the etymology of that phrase is "a few bad apples spoil the bunch - if a couple of them are bad, then that's a problem for all of them. There are a number of other videos. Police calmly walking the insurrectionists out of the Capitol building. One of them on video helping a woman down the stairs of the Capitol. While that guy was taking selfies, another of his colleagues, who appears to have a different skin color in the video clip, was being chased up a different stairwell nearby by the mob. Take selfies or render assistance to your colleagues? If a few officers opened gates, and a few others didn't do their jobs inside even when they were on video, this is a problem for everyone, including the ones who were being overwhelmed. I don't know what it will look like because of Pandemic, but in 13 days this same facility will host a presidential inauguration with many of the same officers. An after action report for that event saying "we had 1000 officers on site and 99.8% of them did not let in bomb-wielding Presidential assassins" would represent a spoiled bunch, and that means somehow more action needs to be taken to weed out the bad apples, rapidly. This may well go for other branches of security. It even mostly slipped by me because it was on a holiday, but the leadership of the Secret Service is apparently reassigning some people away from Biden, and someone tried to nudge nudge wink wink the Washington Post that they seemed to have unusual levels of worry about that group. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/secret-service-to-make-changes-to-presidential-detail-to-bring-on-agents-who-worked-with-biden/2020/12/30/d6fb8fe8-49ce-11eb-a9d9-1e3ec4a928b9_story.html

Over 3900 deaths were reported yesterday, some holiday catch-up but a new record one day high.

Snap Yougov poll. 45% of Self Identified Republicans support the actions of the mob in the Capitol today when asked if they support or oppose it. 43% oppose. 52% of self-identified Republicans believe Joe BIden is largely to blame for the events at the Capitol today, 28% said the same about Donald Trump. https://today.yougov.com/topics/politics/articles-reports/2021/01/06/US-capitol-trump-poll
-
And of course, the problem is me posting the video they shared online...not the police officer taking a photo in the middle of the Capitol with a member of the mob and doing so on video.
-
Unless it was deliberate. Does not have to be all of them. Just had to be the people giving orders.
-
I think there were plenty of the cops who were put in actual danger, but I also think that they opened the gates for them and helped walk them out without arresting anyone. They were overwhelmed in places because Trump had blocked any use of the national guard, but enough of them wanted to help the mob that they got out of the way until their colleagues were in jeopardy.

Confederate flags flew in the US Capitol building today.

If that’s the case there’s a legal process that needs followed outlined by amendment 25! You don’t restore the rule of law by giving illegal orders and hoping to run out the clock. If the Cabinet won’t join in, you go appeal to Congress or the public.
-
1. How exactly does the VP have that authority? 2. That also sorta tells you why the national guard wasn’t there in the first place, and probably hints at why the police got out of the way.
