So little that it's a rounding error. The issue of minor league uncertainty is a good one, I will grant that as a good point But Rodon's minor league time was effectively zero, and in fact may well have contributed to his issues (no time to develop a 3rd pitch in game situations). Sale and Rodon both were called up "as soon as humanly possible" - Rodon's schedule was just determined by his agent being Boras and the extra year of control.

Dude, literally 8 starts, 34 total innings. And a couple of those outings were "rookie ball, waking arm back up after 2 months off post-college-season".
-
No, but it makes it awful tough. At some point, turning him into a starter will involve sacrifice. Potentially losing games to stretch his arm out, to work on his secondary stuff. Definitely losing some games because we won't have a potentially strong reliever available. When are we going to make that sacrifice? I assert that the answer is "not in the next several years", and that makes sense to me. Some other team will happily do that right now, put him in the minors for 2 years to work on thoose things and they would give up a premium player who could help the White Sox right now...more than a single reliever could.

"Mr. President, you literally tried to have me executed this week."
-
Are we allowed to count guys who start the year in the minor leagues?
-
I think quite clearly the plan is to try to win this year at the expense of anything else, and hope for the best otherwise. Which is why trading him...is a reasonable idea. Because it could help win this year more than a single inexperienced reliever.

Chris Sale was in the same boat and threw 58. If he goes multiple innings sometime, they're going to want to rest him for longer afterwards, and if he's moved into a high leverage role of some sort, he won't be going multiple innings very often because you'll want him out there more to win games.
-
And what's going to happen in 2022 if he stays healthy? "We can't get him up to 150 innings since he only threw 55 last year so we need to use him in the bullpen, and LaRussa wants him as his closer, we can't afford to stretch him out we need him in the pen". I will guarantee you that conversation happens next year if he doesn't blow out his elbow.
-
Seriously, as of right now, no it isn't. The window was wider in 2020 than in 2016, and that was wider than in 2000. It will take something major changing, such as a major flip in Texas, before that statement is untrue...and look how much they had to overcome in Georgia.
-
Because he's likely to never leave the MLB pen.

Just to note - the Sale plan almost followed the Papelbon plan to the letter as well. The Red Sox announced Papelbon would be a starter, that didn't last through Spring Training. The White Sox announced Sale would be a starter in 2012, then his elbow acted up in April and they publicly said "Chris is back to the bullpen permanently". I believe this is the one where Sale turned over a table while fighting with Williams about staying in the rotation, and it took that to make them say ok. (In hindsight, maybe teaching Sale that the best way to deal with disagreements with this team was destroying property wasn't the best idea. Plus, having your pitcher have to insist he's a starter in order to literally save the franchise...also a pretty risky setup).

Wrong thread, although this thread is a different threat to Pence.

The last 2 Republican presidents have lost the popular vote their first time out. I believe the GOP has learned this lesson rather well - white, rural voters count way more than city folk. If Biden had only won the popular vote by 5 million votes, he may have lost the election. Clinton narrowly lost with a 3 million vote margin. That number is getting larger every cycle, so the GOP could maybe lose by 7 million votes and still win the Presidency in 2024, 9 million in 2028.

I'll give you Jr as my first guess still. Cruz is making a name for himself right now. TedCruzkilledacop was trending #1 nationwide when I woke up this morning. Maybe he's learned a thing from Trump about how to be an appropriate leader for a fascistic group.

If another riot just happens to somehow occur, and the Capitol police just happen to point the rioters to the location where Biden is, Trump isn't in the way.

When does the season start? -
I think the adjournment is just an acknowledgment of the mess and need to regroup. Whatever legislative plans they might have had were broken on Tuesday, we aren’t passing the DREAM act right now. They can be called back in if something is ready to happen.

That was the obvious prediction in September. -

Well I can add that as of now, the white Sox are already the betting favorite in the AL. They are behind the Dodgers and Padres, even with the moves you list they likely remain behind those teams in odds, and it’s hard to believe the Astros and Yankees won’t do something to take advantage of good teams and all those free agents. So given that the payroll in 2022 is already committed to go up, how much aid anyone willing to push right now? -
Is Fields going number 2 (my god that’s an awful way to phrase it) to the Jets?

There were an awful lot of people who were tired of having to couch their hatred for minorities, libs, women in code words and wanted to express it openly.

I wonder if they’re thinking about taking advantage of the depressed market and jumping in late as the savior of some of these guys, with 1 year or discounted deals that help them too. -

As of the moment that was done, yes, pending anyone’s response. And of course, the favorite doesn’t always win.
